Soler - Fandango in D minor [Alberto Chines, piano] - HD

  • The Fandango in D minor, R. 146 by Padre Antonio Soler (1729 - 1783) is one of the most spectacular, hypnotic and virtuosic keyboard pieces of the late baroque era. A short introduction is followed by over ten minutes of wild musical figurations on a typical, repetitive fandango bass line. Vertiginous jumps, repetitions and walls of arpeggios makes the Fandango a really demanding (and fun!) piece both on harpsichord and piano. Hope you enjoy it, and don't forget to Subscribe for updates on the next videos!

bravissimo oltre che per la resa puramente pianistica anche per aver saputo catturare il canto, la dolce malinconia, qule pizzico di esotismo, che sono pur nascosti tra le note di un brano che non è solo un parossisitico crescendo. Bravo

This is breathtaking. You’ve managed to capture the sharpness of a harpsichord sound on the piano, how do you even do that?! You play with such passion and conciseness. I am in awe please do not stop posting your performances!

I would like to congratulate this excellent young artist. This is such a beautiful and historically iconic piece of music, we all have our prior "favorite" recordings, whether harpsichord or piano, but this is just a joy to listen to. It is so nice to see a young generation of so much talent. I wish him ongoing success - for him of course, and also for our listening pleasure!

This is such a brilliant interpretation of the Soler Fandango that I cannot stop listening to it. I have now listened to many different interpretations, both on harpsichord and on piano, and this is the best. I just wish that it were available for purchase on CD or DVD.

This is a marvelous interpretation, …exquisite. A crisp, light touch. I can not judge which I like better, Chines' version or that of David Cabassi, whose
interpretation is voluminous, heavy on the pedal. Both are Fantastic. I too would love to find it on CD

This is a sensational interpretation of this piece, my favorite of all the piano renditions of The Fandango that I have heard. The whimsical nature of Soler's composition shines through in this performance. The virtuoso technique and sensitive musicianship, combined with the excellent filming of the people behind the cameras, make this a video that has brought me much pleasure time and time again. Bravo.

This was one of the first performances of this piece I listened to, and at the time I didn't think too much of it. Now revisiting it after hearing many other performances and familiarity with the score, I am very impressed. I love all the personal touches Mr. Chines adds and the technique in the trills and other ornaments is breathtaking. Thank you so much for sharing this with us and keep up the spectacular work!

🇮🇹Siccome la tastiera del clavicembalo ha i tasti neri e bianchi invertiti rispetto al pianoforte, ha dovuto invertire i colori sullo spartito 😁
🇬🇧 Since the colours of keys is the opposite in the piano respect to the harpsicord, he had to invert the colours on the score papers 🙃
🗺Ĉar koloroj de klavoj de la klavicembalo estas inversaj kompare kun piano, do li devis inversigi kolorojn de partituro 😜
