Some of them are going to museums and some to private owners and Conservative historical foundations. Very few have been destroyed...

Not only have we "course corrected" we have WAY WAY over corrected. We don't need to be removing any statues. Erasing our history is a very bad idea.

They've been duped into believing that our history is fake history. I'm not sure how to overcome that but it can't be easy. It's very easy to fool people very hard to convince them they've been fooled.

Carolla actually mentioned it a couple weeks ago too, it seems like it's a running gag.
I only found out the reason for those internment camps more than a decade after I first learned about them. For some reason, no one is interested in talking about the why, behind the what.
The why is that a Japanese pilot was shot down over one of the Hawaiian Islands. He was running and hiding on the island, and a Japanese American family living on the island gave him shelter. Instead of turning him in, they gave him weapons and took up arms themselves with him, against the other inhabitants of the island and against the ruling authorities of the island.
Given what was seen as the incredibly dishonorable nature of Pearl Harbor, attacking without issuing a formal declaration of war, combined with this incident, the American authorities determined that if push came to shove, Japanese Americans would identify more strongly with Japan than they would with America, and that would make them a security threat.
At the time, they were not well integrated at all. Most of them only spoke Japanese, only interacted with other Japanese, lived separate from the rest of society, maintained Japanese customs, etc. So it's not hard to see why the authorities viewed them as a security threat.
It might be hard for an American to understand this because there is no "American race", but when you keep in mind that "Japanese" as an ethnicity, and "Japanese" the nationality, have almost 100% overlap, that can help explain it.
And of course, the internment was ordered by FDR, a Democrat, but I would bet months of paychecks that Takei only votes Democrat.

Actually that's not true. Most people didn't own slaves, they were extremely expensive. And most people in the south were rural poor who were subsistence farmers.

From the native Americans or Vikings taking children and woman from villages they just sacked, to the Egyptians making Jews build everything, to Europeans and Romans selling everyone they could.... Broaden your perspective, freedom is a relatively new concept and it can be lost easily and quickly.

I learned about slavery, interment camps and the struggles of indigenous cultures in like 4th to 9th grade history&geography classes in Canada in the 90s/early 2000s.
Our text books were published in the 80s and we had internet access. The part that bothered me was the demonization. There was never a “well we were at war with Japan and they were utilizing highly nationalistic sacrifices by individuals in part due to their own racial supremecy, so the internment camps were a quick and dirty solution to a real threat”. It would be a terrible policy in current day like say after 9/11, but pre technologies we use every day now (cameras, digital footprints like sophisticated phong logs, etc, like are leveraged via the patriot act) you have little other options if you are actually interested in preventing an attack by a nationalistic Japanese combatant. Even through the ‘doom washed’ version of history I received, I still could not logically believe it was simply some anti Japanese position.
While I’ve always been in favour of ‘multiculturalism’ and generally peace and recognizing we’re all simply human, ignoring the logistics and reasoning behind these decisions and actions in the past isn’t progressive. It’s naive and ignorant. This ignorance leads to conclusions such as all black and white people need to leave North America, or prior to British colonialism, slavery didn’t exist. It’s all bullshit. We’re all human, and for most of time, most humans were assholes.
Holy crow, you nailed it man. Beautifully said. I hate when people audit history from a modern viewpoint, without context. My grade 11 & 12 Social Studies teacher couldn’t stop talking about the Japanese Canadian internment camps. He even told us about how, when he was younger, he dated a Japanese girl (bragging) and her parents acted very coldly to him, and he said he totally understood why because of the existence of the camps. So modern day prejudices based on skin colour were okay in his mind, but prejudices during wartime were unforgivable.

Well, Laundrie's parents brought the cops to the park before but most of it was under water. They parents went with cops this week and the body found eas badly decomposed...as if he died before the area flooded. Parents found a dry bag, authorities found the body.
I'm glad I got the man show on dvd because beavers along with many other skits would be canceled today.

Had a girlfriend 1968 whose parents and Grandparents were Japanese internment camps. She showed me the books for Grandmother had, like high school annuals, showing camp buildings people going about their daily lives.

I love how the show is finally on RUclips because for some reason I like seeing them while they're talking. But I have one gripe. Why are these videos getting posted as different things? To me, it would make more sense to just upload the whole episode. I'm confused as to what episodes is what at this point. But I understand that I might be a niche part of the audience that only wants to listen to the Carolla Show through RUclips. It's just interesting to see the way that these videos are posted

Only been to Hooters twice and the majority of the women working there must have been about 19 to 20 many had no chest and a lot had braces on so I've never really seen hot Hooter waitresses. Some waitresses were cute but none of high-level thousand dollars night escort types working at these low-end Hooters I guess
