    Thanks a lot For sharing the technique with us Pratik :) before this, I was also having problem with retouching hairs. This video also makes us wonder that high-end retoucher guys spend that much of time on every project? I also want to ask you that have you thought of making your infinite panels available for students who are studying photography? because they can't afford it at the current value. If you could just make a version of the panel with limited access like adobe does for students and teachers? that would help a lot. I can ask you this because I teach at two different photography schools and students ask me the same question.

    Amazing Pratik! I have a question: why using the clone at first stage to remove flying hair instead of the healing brush tool?

    • @pratiknaikedu
      @pratiknaikedu  4 года назад +6

      That's a great question! When we use the healing brush for the same areas, the healing brush likes to produce the "average" result of each stroke. So with complex areas, it tends to create more problems later. Since the clone only copies and pastes, I coincidentally go through each area faster. It's completely opposite in comparison to skin work. The best option is to try both on the image so you can see first hand how they both react to the same area. The tools themselves have their own identity based on these responses to different textures and contrast areas.

  • @MRBAYOTR
    @MRBAYOTR 4 года назад +1

    Hello Pratik..Hope you're doing well. Loving these Tutorials. FYI at 14:12 Blend Modes of the Clone Brush does work. The reason it didn't work in your instance is that you chose Lighten instead of Darken and in lighten Brush mode you tried cloning a lighter colour hair instead of a Darker colour hair. What you're telling the brush is to Lighten a hair, but it's already light and therefore it didn't affect it.

    • @pratiknaikedu
      @pratiknaikedu  4 года назад +1

      Hey Raymond. If you open up an image and the layer itself is set to the normal blend mode, changing the blend mode on the clone brush doesn't work. I just tried it again in both scenarios. I set it to "lighten" and picked a dark color and brushed over a light color, the clone brush would still work as though it's set on normal mode. Give it a try. The layer mode overrides the clone brush blend mode. In fact, regardless of the blending mode the clone brush is in, it will still act as though it's on normal. Even if you select "pin light" or some crazy mode, you'll see it does nothing specific to that blend mode.

    • @MRBAYOTR
      @MRBAYOTR 4 года назад

      @@pratiknaikedu Okay I see where I got confused. It doesn't work on a Blank layer where there's no image or Pixels. The Clone Brush blend mode only works on a Layer that has the image or copy of the image or has pixels (that you have cloned or painted on or healed previously).. So if you have already created many cloned pixels on a new layer, and you want to go over those pixels to correct them or make them a bit more blended, the brush blend mode will work. Also if you clone on the Image or Duplicated layer it will also work.
      I have done hair and have been using the brushes blend mode without realising that it was working because I was going over already created pixels...or sometimes I was fixing the Duplicate image hair (not new blank layer) that's why I thought it should work because I have done it many times..
      I can show you a video of what I mean if I still have confused you

  • @ktphoto3051
    @ktphoto3051 Год назад

    One thing I did not quite understand, Pratik, was at 17:41 when you are using the clone wide brush, is that the same brush as the smaller clone brush you used earlier? Just wider? Or is this a custom brush that you named clone wide, with certain brush characteristics? Thank you this was a wonderful tutorial

  • @trancer03
    @trancer03 Год назад

    What brush settings are being used for the clone tool? always 0% hardness? and I see air brush style buildup is turned on. Are you using shape dynamics, transfer, buildup, ...? Like is there any pressure sensitivity going on?

    If this was for a client, and they were expecting the results of your final image. How would you price it? would you know it would take roughly 20 hours? Or would you charge a set ammount? If you said it would take about 15 hours. and then said you need another 5, how would you deal with that?
    Amazing work btw! and I'm sure big companies would pay whatever for the results you give :)

    • @pratiknaikedu
      @pratiknaikedu  3 года назад +1

      Probably around $60 an hour. Fortunately you'll rarely see this in a big budget type of client setting, the hair stylist will typically nail down the flyaways with the hair prep. I intentionally picked this image because of the excess. But usually when not doing it for education purposes, I could cut this time down in half since I can deliver 95% of the same quality in much less of a time period too.
