Nice old machine. I personally run a Bucyrus Erie 28-L but have ran an 83 Speedstar and a 282 Speedstar here in W. PA. I'd like to put some videos up in the future.

Do you use the engine’s governor while you’re drilling?

Hello...I appreciate this video...Is there any information you can provide me about this cable tool rig??...I just found out my grandfather used a version of this drill rig in Arizona to drill several wells...Any information would be appreciated...

Its a 1938 wichita S10 model depth rating about 1100 feet it was made by the Clark machine company in wichita falls Texas originally it was all wood my father replaced all the wood except the band wheel which drives the beams it was ordered with a Fort worth header and not a wichita header fort worth rigs have the two springs on the beams like ours a wichita has one spring and a firing pin about middle ways down the beams. If you would like anymore information on it feel feel to ask.

@@sharalynn4399 That sure is a nice old spudder . With the band wheel drive on the beam they are so nice and quiet. The old Walker Neer’s had the same type spudding beam drive.

@@sharalynn4399 wow I would love to see that baby drill! I miss my grandfather’s #2 National Machine. When you had hold of the temper screw swinging a 45’41/4-4 1/2 “ stem with 200’ of cracker on top of the tools when the motion was right it would hit twice every stroke! It was so quiet because the engine was 35-40’ away.
How deep do you guys drill out there? You have Star machines too don’t you? They are a nice running rig too!

@752brickie when we used to drill oil wells we'd drill 2700 ft in about 20 days running 2 12 hour tours 2 8inch bits per tour but now since insurance reasons with blowout preventors we just drill water wells some anywhere from 500 ft to 1600 ft I sure miss oilwell drilling though
