Well, nowadays you can't say the same... and lowering keys it's a smart choice when you can't hit the high notes, straining it's not good for vocals, and time proves it because he can barely sing at the current time
Difference is in 2003 he was overall still solid and not actively working on getting it back. By 2010 even 2007 he was really working hard at it. In 2003 he said he couldn't sing Always anymore. Still tried it the first show about five years ago.
I don't care what anyone says, his voice always was and still truly is amazing. This is incredible. One of my favourite songs, was there the night before, just missed this one:(

@rivariad Not many 49 year old men could sing Dry County, Living In Sin or Always like he can. They don't tour like that anymore, you know they take breaks now. But they carry on because they love their fans. The Circle tour is nearly over now, unfortunately for me but that's a chance for Jon to improve his worn out voice from this time over, and he stopped smoking a few years ago so he's sounding much better!

@rivariad He didnt lose his voice..sure he doesnt have as much power ad he once did, but his pitching is still amazing and he's almost 50, he's toured for years on his voice, what can you expect? I'm not denying anything, he's a great singer. It's not an easy song to sing, either.

This ISN'T the best performance... check the version made in Sydney on december 2010, that version is better than this one and the version in Scotland in june 2011 is also better.
Tico mistake,he lost the timing completely and Jon had to fix it.Actually Tico is a good drummer but I don't know why he used to make a lot of mistakes playing Live..

El sólo de Richie no fue nada similar a la canción original, suelen improvisar en ciertas partes de esta canción y creo que eso fue lo que hicieron acá. Por eso Jon se da vuelta, mira a Tico y como que asiente como diciendo "esta bien, no pasa nada" jaaja o algo así! Fue una pequeña desprolijidad pero la verdad es que es un temazo y en los últimos años le han hecho justicia las pocas veces que lo tocaron!
Fue error de Tico, por que estaba tocando diferente esa parte, y pues seguramente quedó desconcertado al final que es cuando venía el fill. Simplemente no estaba poniendo la caja en el tiempo adecuado y no pudo adecuarse a cuando entraba Jon a cantar

Sad watching the band I grew up listening to turn in to this. Quit while you're ahead. He's visibly struggling with those notes (already tuned down for live) and it's difficult to watch. Sambora not even trying here.
for 2010 this was AMAZING. probably the best performance after the One Wild Night Tour.

I recommend the Yokohama 1996 version. Jon was great, and Sambora's Les Paul sounded awesome.

He still sounded good in 2010. Since then his voice declined drastically, although there has been a very slight improvement over the course of 2017.
I hope that he improves at the point of singing like in 2010 again... but i doubt it, he is not sounding good at all
