I’ve been a Joe Walsh fan since I was a little kid. Being originally from Northern Ohio, it would have been hard not to like the James Gang. This is the best live version of this song, I’ve ever heard, and I’ve heard a lot. Both Joes are on fire in this clip. Joe Walsh is the reason I play guitar. 🤘🤘
Joe is rocking a Hagström Swede tuned to open E for the slide parts at the beginning and the end with a standard tuned Gibson Les Paul for the talk box part in the middle. Just in case anyone was wondering.
And compare this take to the mid seventies appearance on the Midnight Special where he plays a Les Paul Custom, also all mahogany like this Hagstrom Swede. . . And hear how much better this take sounds. Hagstrom rocks.
Also saw this version back in 73 or 74 (on norwegian tv). I especially noticed the bassists way of wiggle, which i thought looked cool, and remember it very well because of that
This, along with Turn To Stone from the same gig, was broadcast on Whistle Test in the early 70's in the UK, made me an instant fan. Is the rest of the gig available ??

The Hagstrom Swede Joe is playing for the majority of this take sounds like tumbling bricks, it's wicked. My favorite take.
Saw him in 1974 in DC with Marshall Tucker Band. He changed the lyrics to "Nixon's at bat..."
Awesome! ☮
Wow we all wanted to be with you

Co-written by Joe Vitale on drums..... remember each of them as teens in Ohio
We didn’t ever check to see who wrote it. Joe was a great drummer
