Hi from Germany! I own the same Watch. Bought it last year from .... Ukraine or so.... It`s awesome. This Brand was huge back in the Time. A "Poljot" was the first Watch in Space.
Hey! Yeah they are really beautiful watches. And yeah, It was really cool reading about Poljot's history! Very fascinating! Thanks for checking out my video! If there are any topics you would like to see me cover, let me know!
I own the gold cased version with black dial, gold markers and gold hands which i bought from Ukraine. I have worn it a lot, it's very slim and light and you forget it's on your wrist. Mine keeps amazing time, i regularly check it against my Casio atomic r/c digital and it doesn’t gain or lose more than a few seconds a week. Swapped the strap for a nicer padded calf leather strap. It looks very close to the 1965 Omega Seamaster Deville as worn by Jon Hamm in the final seasons of Mad Men, his was chrome cased. Overall i love the watch, it looks much more expensive than it was, cost me £95 delivered. Had quite a few complementary comments on it as well. A 1965 Omega costs about £1600 so this will do until i save up.....lol. very nice review.
Thank you! Yeah - they TOTALLY have Deville vibes - I was out of town with a friend, who actually owned a Don Draper Deville, and when I got back home and put on my Poljot it was disturbingly similar :) 🍸🍸
So hey, Norm, I don’t mean to bother you but i do have a couple of questions for you since it has been seven months since you got it. Please and thank you in advance. So have you dalyied it at all since your got it or ever wore it for a significant amount of time? And do you revisit it at all anymore, or has the charm worn off? Any major problems with it yet?
Excellent Q's! No bother at all! I should do a follow up vid. I've only kept it going for a few days - but that's the case w/ most of my watches :) I've actually been wearing most of this week! - Prob because I accidentally (I'll tell that story in a future vid) bought a couple more cheap old Russian watches. It keeps turrble time but I wind my watches 2x/day so I just tweak it when I'm doing that. Think it's at +2 mins/day. I figure if it dies I MAY service it... or I'll pull an Andy Warhol. lol
@@factorybear5264 They are amazing looking, and for the price - not too painful, if you get one w/ a ... rough .... movement. I just filmed a follow up on this watch - be out next week.
I found it on Ebay - listed as NOS. However, one viewer pointed out that it has likely been given a new dial. I STILL need to send it off for servicing. When I do I may do a follow up video on it. Thanks so much for watching!
@@TimBee100 Yeah, when I bought it I believed the listing, but it sounds like these are actually kinda franken, but they are inexpensive and really cool looking, so I personally don't mind. But yep.
@@KillingTimeWithNorman - I want to find an old watchmaker from Eastern Europe who might be able to tell me if it is authentic or not. That way I know whether or not to buy more from the same guy. Hey Norman, I purchased the same watch (I'm guessing from the same seller as you did). Question: Do you have reason to believe that this is actually an authentic vintage watch?
My understanding is they are - but probably re-dialed, given how new they look. THINK the dials are actually a diff brand, like Vostok etc, but don't recall They behave like vintage watches - actually not too dissimilar to heavy hitters like the Omega Seamaster Deville vintage pieces.
It took me a little bit but I've totally fallen in love with my two Poljots. They now get a ton of wrist time. In fact, after reading your comment I wound up the silver dial one, and am wearing it as I type. hehe
@@KillingTimeWithNorman Ha, ha! Yes, they sure look good. I have the silver one and the black one you have. We share great taste, I suppose:) That said, I question whether they are what they were advertised to be. To me the box just looks all wrong for what I generally see from the period from other brands. The indices don't seem to match the look on what appear to be authentic models sold elsewhere. Same for the printing of key details on the dial. On the whole the condition of the box and the watch don't seem to imply 30-40 year old watches. Also, an expert told me that the movement does not look correct to the model. So my non-expert surmise is that they are modern reproductions in all respects, possibly using vintage movements. If so, would anger me a bit given how they were advertised (at least to me).
