I'd never heard of them. Until I caught them live on the secondary stage at Monsters of Rock 1994. Never looked back. My eyes opened. What a band! Shame the members are so fractious.
They were probably fractious because they never achieved the recognition they deserved. It eventually breeds resent. They were much better than many who gained greater levels of fame. Wildhearts never really spoke to the masses. In a way, they were a little 'High-Brow'. Not enough songs about sex and girls to be massive.
First seen these open for Love/Hate at Newcastle's now defunct Mayfair Ballroom back in 1993. I went and bought their 'Mondo Akimbo A Go Go' EP the next day, on limited edition white vinyl. Seen them a couple of times after that, but their opening slot back in 1993 was my fave.
@gezrobs1 LoL, absolutley. I kind of like the fact that theres a dark corner of real music that can only be appreciate those that know it. Goes back to a bit of taoist quoting that applies here: that which has value wouldnt be valuable, if those that dont understand value, value it.
@infinitesimotel That which is most popular must by definition have the lowest common denomonator ergo anything that is popular is inherently worthless
Have not heard this for over twenty years. Just made a old man very happy..

The Wildhearts came out with some epic tunes, rich and varied in riffage. Fantastic song craft and wordsmith.
This was the first song I ever remember hearing in my life. Greetings from possibly the youngest Wildhearts fan!
