Edit to say, please no spoilers for anything beyond episode 8. I wanted this to be a cut content but there was basically nothing cut so it wasn’t possible. Instead I did it www.youtube.com/@overanalyzingavatar style and think it fits this show well as the Anime does make a lot of small changes. Thanks for watching, Tip me on Ko-fi to fuel the content and Subscribble. P.S. If you found something I missed, no you didn’t I just didn’t think it was worth mentioning. If I got something wrong, no I didn’t. Go reread the manga. :P
Personally while I didn’t mind the switch to her crying outside instead of in the cathedral my one real gripe with the anime is why they didn’t have that initial crying shot. That shot in the manga of her staring in shock as tears begin to roll down her face is in my opinion one of the best panels in the entire series and I hate that they didn’t show a proper version of that.
Naaaa the anime managed this very well, first you take a close up of her getting surprised at church (something she is aware of), then we move to bury scene. IDK in how many funerals you people have been, but the watershed moment is when the people is getting cover with dirt, is when people starts throwing flowers and obejcts and when the tears came down. The moment you realize, you will never see that person again (at least physically), moments ago you still got the chance to see its face, before it was cover in dirt. It was much more powerful and meaningful in the Anime.
@@damainmg I didn’t say the anime scene was bad. It was fine. My point is more that the scene in the church was such an iconic and meaningful panel that it was a shame that it just got completely cut. Though I’d also argue that her crying in the church made far more sense for the story because Frieren’s reason for crying wasn’t the same as everyone else’s. She wasn’t crying simply because Himmel was dead and she won’t see him again. Her tears were caused by the bystander’s comments causing a realization in her. Up until then she wasn’t thinking much of it, Himmel was gone but that was to be expected and she’s seen countless people come and go over her long life. That’s why up until then she was stone faced as usual without so much as a sad look. But in that moment it’s not simply sorrow. In that initial panel of her crying her face looks blank showing that she started crying before she even realized it. It wasn’t a simple look of grief but a look of shock as she realizes that it does hurt that she does wish she got to know him better. When she says they only traveled together for ten years that is her talking to herself. She is trying to rationalize that this shouldn’t affect her like this because from her perspective she barely knew him. She doesn’t understand why she is crying just that she is because Himmel somehow meant more to her than she ever realized. Her grief isn’t simply that he’s dead it’s that she is only now realizing in that moment that he truly meant something to her. All of this stemmed from those comments in the church which is why she cried there. It makes more sense as such for her to be crying in the church rather than delaying the tears for half an hour to an hour for them to finish the ceremony, carry the body out, and start burying it far removed from that moment of realization.
@@CeliriaRose My point still tands, is more powerful in the buried scene that crying in the church, crying cause a bystander said you are emotionless, is less impactful than you being aware of. If people who buried their dear ones don't cry or show any emotion in the church (after all is more protocol than anything else), can't expect less from a millenial elf. And the only difference is that in the manga, you only have a few panels to do that (the scene is so good with the tears and so), but all that happens at the the church, they got out from the church and that's all, they take separated ways, there is not buried scene. There is no grave where to cry for. Ps: Even in the anime after the buried scene, she is holding the ring Himmel bought her.
this is great, please keep it up. From your analysis you can actually tell how deep the animators and director went into each panel and try to improve or add even the smallest detail, while preserving the spirit and the overall story of the manga. Tells me that they have real deep love for the manga.
The lamp on the table.. It's because at the start of her deciphering, not much clatter. It's Genius. Kudos to the animators.

@@exitium4929 True. I did debate if it was something worth perusing. The main thing was how much ppl praise this show, and being just another video singing it's praises or not doubling down on the bit likely would have led to the video doing far worse
OFC, that polarizes ppl. Though I tend to be a fairly sarcastic guy. So I came to the conclusion that I'd just Give it praise when it deserves it, make some jokes, and point out when I actually have a serious issue.
Hopefully it was a great video for those who stayed. No matter what I can't expect everyone to like my stuff. I did experiment with my latest video and...well I can see what works and what dosen't XD.
RUclips is a wierd space like that ig.
13:50 this bit is infuriating, the axe is cleary on the more safe position in the anime, not in the source. In the source, as the center of mass is higher above the base, the axe is more unstable and willing to fall, also in that position a fall would propose an actual threat as it could hit Stark's neck, where in the anime the worse that could happen is a cut toe. Cleary you don't know anything about safe axe placement, and still you try to argue about it? How shameful.
Look, all I know is that 1. I failed physics and 2. I hate stubbing my toe
@@SlothyCeddy humph. And you still try to criticize that perfectly positioned axe. 🤷 Get better.
@@rafaelsantiagoaltoe6606 I'm amurican. I'm already better smh.
@@SlothyCeddy shit, you got me.
So, you Japanese well enough to know that the dialog is different between the anime and manga?
eeeh, I'm always learning, however the english translation from manga to anime is 100% different.
@@SlothyCeddy That's nor surprising, it happens a lot, different translators, different ways.
the original Japanese dialogue is the same. You mean that the manga was translated differently from the dialogue in the anime.
I can't read/speak Japanese, so I was commenting on the English translation yes
ducks = points 😂😂
The reason of these dislike is because you called a goose a duck
you may be onto something
Masterpieces (shows RAG), I see where this is going.

@@Greatcelestialkaligo Rent a girlfriend
@@Rastaboulotte yup i knew from that point, its a shame since this is honestly one of the more unique videos no one elses has compared the manga and because of how dense people are it got hated on a bit, and its honestly one of my favorites
@@Greatcelestialkaligo RAG is one of your favorite? Hum, to each their own brother, but as long as you're having fun, it's entertainment after all.
Well played.
Thanks for indulging my games
i am glad that is not the same . change is good .
I get what your saying. When I first say hear a song that I like even if it's a remake....that's my favorite and always will be even the original will sound like an abomination to me and I'll be disgusted if they try to Jive it up for a "younger audience" like nails on a chalkboard, so I get what you say when you see alterations to your original manga.
I mean, I watched the anime first XD. This is really just to point out what's different with some satire.
I am anime only and dubbed at that. I would have been very upset having read the novel to see some of the changes as they do change the entire tone of the scene. It would be great if we lived in a world where the the anime creators worked with the original creator and he/she could say put this in here add that there to completely flesh out the anime as it would be a 1:1 transcription of the original work with nothing changed/cut out but that would make each episode 10 times longer. Which I would be fine with but I don't think the Anime company would agree to.@Ceddy
@@longdragon7067I mean frankly, this is basically as close to a 1:1 you can get. It's nearly panel-accurate.
Well looks like I need to get a clue here! 🤣 Seriously I love this show can't find a single flaw with it....I want more!@@SlothyCeddy

If this is satire its friggen hilarius. 🤣🤣🤣 Though if its not most of these complaints are pretty petty.
This is in fact satire
@@SlothyCeddy This is definetly good work, Though sadly by the looks of the dislike to like ratio alot of people don't know that.
Ok point me to a 100% Manga to Film reproduction or any other Film for that matter. It's called Artistic Liberty, what does the sourse originator think of this?

You forgot to add points for colors, sound, audio, vocals, music, soundtracks and animation, also translation will depend on who does it and how faithful it is to the original Japanese language. (Crunchyroll is known for butchering translations).

Ok, you got me at the end… 😊
I'm colorblind so can't say much there. Also can't really compare any of those to the manga since it isn't animated lol.
