  • The 2020 Yamaha TMAX as tested by BikeReview.com.au, features a larger capacity 562cc engine with revised cylinder-head, conrods, crankshaft, gear ratios and fuelling. It meets Euro-5 and has more power and more torque than the previous model TMAX 530. The TMAX 560 is also restyled and features optimised suspension and electronics, along with a TFT dashboard. Costing $16,599 AUD Ride Away, the LAMS (Learner Rider) approved Maxi Scooter demands a premium price tag. So how does is stack up?

I dislike when people say scooters aren't "real bikes" or that they're "nearly" a "real bike". A bike is a bike, regardless if its manual or not.

0:42, you're lucky there wasn't a bus coming the other way. I'd love to get one of these! I currently ride a PCX150, perfect for inner-city riding and at 2.25l/100km also cheap to run. Twist-and-go is much better than grinding gears on a big road bike, especially in the city.

You have to allow at least a month-6 weeks for all the belts filters and as I unfortunately found out paper gaskets for the 40k valve check to show up from Japan. The 20k service is around $1500 add a set of pirelli rosso tyres and your over $2k for that one. The 40k service with valve check is over $2K add $600 for the rossos it goes on and on. Rant over thanks Jeff.

Have the Xmax 300 and get 390km per 10 litres (11Litre tank +2 reserve) easily get 450km if your game. Great bike don't know why they are not more popular. My only gripe is the lack of heated grips Yamaha Shop want $282 and $23 for the wiring harness + fitting. Would be great if the bike comes standard with heated grips. The under seat storage on Xmax300 is bigger and will fit 2 full size helmets + a small bag or 1 helmet and jacket + rain gear. Love it love it love it.

So that works out to be 37-39km per litre avg. Hwy would be higher consumption due to higher revs, sitting at about 5,500-6,000 rpm at 100kmph(60mph). The 300 is working hard at speed due to the small capacity and my heavy weight(100kg) 😁 I use mine just for commuting as hwy is always congested, its great at lane filtering.

I enjoyed your review! "SUBSCRIBED" I purchased a 2019 X-Max 300 after seeing all what that machine was made of for simple fun (Except for the rotary key that runs it) :( I have enjoyed the scooter and take it in the toy-hauler when on some camping trips. It has plenty of power for taking my wife & I for rides over the mountain passes with ease! I also purchased the 2020 V-Max as I have always wanted one of those machines (Love-it too) I have owned many scooters & motorcycles in my life and have always enjoyed the fun-factor of a scooter! Thanks again :)

May cas you'ze are all rioting, COVID-19 decimated economies, and the sales being low won't support the viable ongoing backup? Can't sell things 2nd hand anymore. Nobody is splashing cash. The worst is yet to come (the economic aftermath). Just what China engineered the virus for! Prove it! Look at Sony... not revealing it's new gaming console whilst 2020 plays out. Seriously, in a bad economy, a high maintenance chunk of plastic is not what people want to throw cash down on. Sales will have slowed.
