I had a chance to throw this ball at a Storm demo over the weekend, and I had the same response. I didn't have much luck with it going up the track, but as soon as I started moving left with it, I immediately turned around at one of the reps and yelled at 'em, "You're sure this is urethane?!" They just smiled at me and shrugged haha.
I don't have a pure urethane ball yet. I'm rocking my UC3 and loving it! Curious how this one compares to that...if they're different enough, I wouldn't mind a more "hooky" pure urethane. Great review and the ball looks fantastic!
That reaction to your last shot is exactly how I feel about the original Trend. I do love urethane though so looking forward to seeing more comparisons to UC3, PB, and PH.
Always great video's as always!!! Short story, my pro shop operator searched me out just to tell me about the zen u. As i predominantly use urathane!!! ( pitch black)
Wow…talk about mind blowing 🤯 Sometime soon, you should drop a Purple Hammer/Zen U comparison vid. That’s one of the best ball motions I’ve seen in quite a long time
it would be a good idea if you JR. would show what your drill lay out looks like on your test ball. most people don t know what the numbers even mean, thanks , john
Just purchased and tested it myself today. Lawd have mercy. Another urethane? Love the UC3 but this ball like the UC3 makes you wonder. I Used it after league(senior) and the lanes didn’t break down that much. No one else was playing my line using the Phaze 2 and the Zen U did just as well. Get one please.
I'd love to see this compared to the Blue and new Carbide Tanks. I feel like this is stronger than the Blue but will be weaker in oil handling ability than the Carbide.
We're going to start seeing tighter USBC restrictions on oil take-up, adhesion and static friction in response to new urethane technologies. They're simply too versatile, and take oil pattern out of consideration
Great video's! I was able to get a pre release zen u. Bowled a 4 man, 5 game tournament, 5 different pairs yesterday!!! All i can say is WOW! 1113 194,201,265,226,227
JR just threw 7/8 strikes from 8 different spots on the lane…Ridiculous…The way he rolled this ball gave even balls like the Zen, the Gem, and the Axiom, for example, runs for their money…Crazy to think he did this with a urethane…That’s why I believe JR Raymond is one of the most talented bowlers…Wish he could just be more consistent in his tournaments and bring home some titles!
Seems like it's urethane with solid reactive, rather than pearlized like the purple and uc3. It's not bouncing off of friction as much. It's just digging and driving hard.
Saw my pso’s son throw that ball yesterday and it is phenomenal. Of course will take a few games to break it in cause at first that ball is going to continuously go brooklyn and hook it’s but off lol. Awesome ball overall 🤙🏾
Wow! Just wow...ok getting one...or...maybe I need to see your Purple Hammer comparison first... The background music is still hokey and distracting though.
I am more of a speed dominant (17-18mph) player with about 430rpm. My game is more down and in. Needless to say Urethane NEVER matches my game. That being said I've got 2 Zens and. Zen Master in the bag. Wonder if this Zen U could get off the spot hard enough for my game?
Looking at some of the other reviews, it seems like there are two types of ZenU out there. Brad and Kyle's and Beef and Barnzy's looked like a small step up from a pitch black where as this and Darren Tang's just look insane. Obviously layouts and patterns will play a big part but I really don't know what to make of it at the moment
This makes sense to me because I’ve heard complaints that it was not different enough from the Pitch Black, whereas this review makes the ZU look like a urethane/reactive hybrid. More QC issues with Storm? 🤔
Probably you could have talked about speed control here becuase since it's a urethane I am sure you would have adjusted the speed to give it a big hook as seen in the video. Thanks for throwing out these reviews man really appreciate it
I throwed 12lb version of the Zen U with the Centripetal weight block, and it's really insane how it hooks, use a 500 grit, and immediately snaps on the dry.
Would love to see this with the new Motiv Carbide Tank if you can get your hands on one. From what I've seen, it's capable of similar amounts of stupid.
Following our conversation from your other vid, JR, concerning the USBC's report showing urethane balls getting softer, it will be interesting to observe whether PBA bowlers' complaints/concerns about the Purple Hammers that are still legal, will suddenly be silenced now that Storm/Roto/900 staffers can throw the Zen U, which as you said in this vid, appears comparable to the Purple Hammer.
JR, you had me at, "This is stupid. That ball is dumb." lmao

I was going to ask the same question. Hopefully he answers

Can you do a Motiv Carbide Tank
Always great video's as always!!! Short story, my pro shop operator searched me out just to tell me about the zen u. As i predominantly use urathane!!! ( pitch black)
I don’t have a urethane ball in my arsenal yet, however this just may be my first.
Dont do it. Pitch Black is just a better urethane. Zen u is too strong, especially on house shots.
Wow…talk about mind blowing 🤯 Sometime soon, you should drop a Purple Hammer/Zen U comparison vid. That’s one of the best ball motions I’ve seen in quite a long time
Wow.. I have a pink widow and purple, which are a great 1-2 for me, but that zen U looks crazy. Can't wait for the purple / zen u comparison
it would be a good idea if you JR. would show what your drill lay out looks like on your test ball.

I got to try the Zen U a few days ago, its fantastic
Just purchased and tested it myself today.

That looks... Amazing.
If I have a UC3, should I get this ball? I was looking at this or the F8te

wow... pretty amazing! I am sure that layout helps the continuation....
I a lot have that purple and gold honey badger from 900 and i love that ball

Yes yes and yes this will be n my bag I’ve been waiting for 900 to drop a urethane ball
Also looks somewhat similar to my Purple Tank if it had a strong layout.

Close to the pitch purple?
what's the weight of the ball you're using ????
Great video, need to see the comparison between purple hammer and zen u
I will be getting mine when they come into the Pro Shop
How about a purple hammer, uc3, zen u comparison.
What was ur layout? It was 🔥🔥🔥
Is it comparable to the UC3?
What is your lay out
🤣😂🤣he said this is stupid💀💀💀
yes do a comparison with the purple hammer!
Did you use the shammy
Darren Tang was getting similar ball reaction to yours.
Saw my pso’s son throw that ball yesterday and it is phenomenal. Of course will take a few games to break it in cause at first that ball is going to continuously go brooklyn and hook it’s but off lol. Awesome ball overall 🤙🏾
Lol JR should have kept trying to leave a 10 pin to see how long it would be til he leaves one regarding the fact that this ball is 🔥
I am debating on this and the Pitch Black
Wow! Just wow...ok getting one...or...maybe I need to see your Purple Hammer comparison first...
The background music is still hokey and distracting though.
Is it a pure urethane cover? Or is there some kind of additive?
They call it a "urethane+" cover so probably some reactive component.

Are you still throwing this ?
Nice review. Really nice look
Looks alot like my old Brunswick riot zone. Might have to pick one of these up.
We need ZEN U 900 Global vs Storm Rubicon UC3 comparison!

Seems like storm finally has a answer to the purple hammer

That's a sick ball!!!
Pleeeeease compare this to the purple hammer
First 3 games with Zen U I left 18 ten pins uggghhhh
doesnt even look like urethane
Because JR can release the ball almost better than anyone on the planet…
@@Lord_Pender ......
@@Frostecy I mean that’s fair.
Awesome ball!

Love your reactions lol oh my goodness it did, this things sick no urethane should do this lol
Cool video talk tech bowling Jr Raymond
Copy paste jeez
@@thomasmccarrick4169 yeah
Wow, it looked like reactive off the back of the pattern
Yeah that's not urethane but I'll still get one 😂
This ball looks stupid good I won't one.
Nice vidéo. Like your review!!! +1 sub :)
Tourathane 2.0
Is urethane a good choice for women?
Reacts like a darn reactive some lol even though it’s urethane
Urethane balls are too strong at the center I’m at, too much friction and not enough oil. Modified beaten path.
Insanity. Easily the next piece I purchase.
It’s not urethane
Definitely looks like reactathane, and not true urethane.
I don’t understand the hype on this ball. The UC3 does this and more imo.
LOL This is as much urethane as the bleeders were just plastic.
