    Your last tip to remember to be thankful & forgiving is more beautiful than the rocks you paint.
    Thank you for making and sharing the video.

    Hi Dave - how and what product do I use to stain my faux stamped concrete rocks in my pool. Half the rock is under water and the original stain is completely gone. It's now dark gray, probably because it's wet.

    • @DaveHendersonFakeRockVideos
      @DaveHendersonFakeRockVideos  2 года назад +1

      Hi Lloyd, I use exterior high quality latex house paint. Not stains usually. You'll need to drain the pool water down of course. Then tape off areas that don't need new paint. You can also rinse off overspray carefully as well. The paint below water gets bleached out by pool chlorine over time... Lower the chlorine better for your skin and body and the faux rocks. I don't mind a little algae here and there... More on how we do this stuff, including free downloads and more at davehenderson.podia.com if ya like. Anyway, best of luck to you. Cheers, Mr. Dave :)

    Hey Dave! Do you ever use concrete stain instead of paint? My pool rocks and grotto were originally done with stain and i'm looking at options to redo it.

      A bit of a late response but ya i use concrete stains rarely. Mostly on pond bottoms. Otherwise just exterior latex house paint... davehenderson.podia.com for more fake rock how-tos including free downloads and more if ya like.. Have a great day! Cheers, Mr. Dave. :)

    Good stuff. It’s a bit hard to find just what I wanted in this area to “edjumicate” myself on painting my stone fasade I’m putting on the front of my house. Actually bought some really nice rubber molds to make about 50 different patterns of stone including corners and window sills. Adhering with thin set on durarock underpayment. Dave you look like my next RUclips stone painter mentor/guru. Thanks

      Very cool Ken! And thank you for the kind comments. :) I had a customer send me some new information that you should find interesting. Potassium silicate paints: www.limeworks.us/product/ecologic-potassium-silicate-paint/ Looks like it might be better than my exterior latex paints for cementitious materials! Also have other content which I think I already mentioned, including free stuff at davehenderson.podia.com if ya like. Anyway, best of luck to you, and God bless. :)

    Hi, I have a question,why you don't paint waterbase sealer before paint color?

    • @DaveHendersonFakeRockVideos
      @DaveHendersonFakeRockVideos  3 года назад

      Thanks for the question. As i understand things the high quality exterior latex paint I use adhears best to the finished mortar/concrete that we build our fock features with. Sealing after is an option I know some rock guys do. Anyway, if you're interested i have more fake rock how-tos, including free pdf downloads and more at davehenderson.podia.com. Then have blogs and links to other platforms at www.daverhenderson.com. Thanks again and God bless, Mr. Dave. :)

    Kind of strange, but I plan on doing’s something like this on my duck hunting boat. I have a boat built by “The Duck Boat Company”. With all the north eastern costal hunting I do the rock colors should blend great. These videos help out alot and are oddly relaxing!

      The "oops" paint is high quality exterior latex paint so it's the good stuff. It just got mixed for someone who didn't like the color... And I save a bunch on the cost! $9 instead if $35 or more! 👍😎

    I want to make a huge styrofoam Boulder for my kids to play on. The most intimidating part for me will be the paint so it looks real. I really appreciate all your videos especially these painting techniques. 👍

    • @DaveHendersonFakeRockVideos
      @DaveHendersonFakeRockVideos  3 года назад +3

      Yes, painting is a challenge. Just keep experimenting with tints and practice on some grey cement or simple small fake rocks to see how the paint takes to the material. You will notice that if the paint's too thick it won't spray well. But if it's too thin, then your not getting a long lasting amount of pigment/paint on the rocks... Also, play with the nozzle to get different spray patterns and remember you can always add more colors. I start with the lighter colors and then go to the darker ones. Good luck! :)
