I commented on Instagram, but forgot to check out the videos here! Luckily, RUclips ended up recommended me this. Such a cool concept and idea. I also love how you have everything symmetrically laid out. I've never thought to do a clip/stem launching DJ style on a modular setup. I'm also in the Boston area, hope to run into you sometime at a MOTS or modular meetup!
Hey bud! I spotted your setup in the thumbnail, it was a pleasure getting to play with you in Portland, ME MOTS! An excellent thesis statement on creating composition in the modular space. Cheers, Dr Medicine
Dude you don’t have idea how much you help me with my Nerdseq setup 4 part amazing, for DJ set up ER301 cv loops + bitbox most for drums I’m loosing a channel on my Er 301 for drum compression should get comp module from NE got few versio modules plus the BA and Manís love them, DIY the Befaco morphader for crossfade and works good can’t find the module you have on the bottom right side look like the stop prod, once again thx so much for what you showing us in your channel, make us verified our own setups, keep up the good work, the universe will bring you other things for the knowledge you put out there. 🙏
Such a cool system! A question about the audio routing :) Does it go Axys -> stereo strips -> effects, or Axys -> effects -> stereo strips, or are some of the 1U module mixers in that chain?
Hey there, its been a minute since I had this setup, but if i remember right it was Bitboxes -> Axys -> Stereo Strip - > FX -> 1u Stereo Mixer -> Librae legio for master compression -> WMD Overseer as a dj filter.
Thanks for the subscription! My original inspiration was watching Daedelus do a live performance in a small case doing something very similar (he was using the 4ms stereo sampler)
Very focused, purposeful design and build! Would it be fair to say that with the two Bitbox(es) and Pam's you've kind of created a mini-Ableton Live for standalone performance? And if so, are you curating and auditioning your samples from Live? You mentioned Bitwig, so i'm guessing not...
yep kind of, its like a little mini "Session view". not quite as robust, but very similar idea. In terms of prepping the samples, you should be able to do the same thing in ableton as I was doing in Bitwig. Basically I would build out a session in bitwig, then bounce the individual clips out as audio.
very cool idea, and well executed! How would you approach smoothly changing tempos on this sort of system? Just change Pam's clock and let the timestretching on the bitboxes do their thing? I assume this would also be equally possible with the Micro versions of the bitbox. If you were playing back longer tracks instead of 8-bar loops, I might suggest implementing a synced looper that can capture smaller chunks of the track to use while bending stuff together, as looping is a huge part of most "proper" dj sets. But very cool video, I know Daedalus did a similar kind of setup at one point as well, in his kind of eclectic style
yea the time change question would need to be explored. the bitbox has a very rudimentary time stretching, but im not sure how it would handle big time changes. would need to expermiment. Daedalus was an inspiration for this case! I saw him play live doing something very similar using the catalyst flow and the 4ms triggered stereo sampler.
Maybe 2 different clock sources sent to each bitbox, or have multiple bpms on a switch and mult that signal to both bitboxes clock if you wanted to keep the bitboxes in sync. Depends on what and how you play I guess, one may run into issues with these suggestions, I'm not sure. If i had a similar setup and performed in this manner I would be trying these ideas. Inspiring case and video!

IMHO, one of the most beautiful Eurorack systems crafted for specific DJish use I have ever seen.
I LOVE this setup. I never would’ve thought to use Eurorack for this application.

Great video, would love to see more like this
amazing.
I just learnt more in 15 minutes than I did all summer
Thank you!

Very inspiring!
Thoughtful setup. Clean and inspiring.
Thanks so much!
This is beautifull!

That is such a cool setup! So much control and flexibility! What gave you the idea for this? Was it the Bitbox samplers? (Just subscribed)

@@Buildmusic nice! Thanks for the answer!
Such a cool setup. One question, How did you move the 1u to the middle?
good setup
Thanks!

Saw in your modular grid you have a Ransom NotesMkii think youll make a video on that? Im super interested in building something similar

Hi - Do you have a Modular Grid for this?
www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/2083920
Getting another Catalyst? is that even possible? ^^
not at the moment unfortunately. Ive heard rumors that they will be coming back under a different brand, but we'll see if that pans out
Hey your in the Boston area ?
Yep!
@@Buildmusic where are these modular events in the city ?
