symba 80?? No 100 it was the best match of his carrer he said it himself and he won against him at the FO but you seem to forget that Novak destroyed him at the ao dubail Indian Wells before that and beat him at the uso after.
For me the highest level anybody ever played throughout a season. To beat nadal 6 times in a row, in finals, including 2 clay and 2 gs finals, is something unreal. His backhand in the madrid final was arguably the best backhand performance ever. He's a true idol, and an icon of the sport
Plus Nadal was coming from one of his best seasons , 2010.
That year was prime nadal vs peak novak. What a year of tennis
Gunbnelch Maui It means nothing tbh, Nadal won 3 out of the 4 matches the following year against Nole.
Federer 2006 is the best
What Novak did with his bh in 2011 is the best bh ever. No competition. Not even Wawrinka.
Very painful year as a Nadal fan, but Novak was the better player, that’s it.
Good on you to be able to acknowledge this Stueww. We need more fans like you
@Shawn Nadal was 100% in 2011. It's just that he wasn't ready to face that monster peak Novak. He needed to change his game and he did that in 2012.
@Shawn As a Nadal fan, I would have to say Djokovic was just way better than him in 2011. There is no denying that, injuries or not. But this is why I became a fan of Nadal. He may lose but he works hard enough to improve his game. And he did so in upcoming 2-3 years and did that once again in recent years. This is just an example of how the big 3 have pushed each other hard enough that they have to improve even as they reach the end of their careers.
When prime Nadal vs peak Novak was going on in this decade, it didn't seem like either one will lose a point based on their defence and movement. That is just how high of a level these 2 were fighting at.
Prateek Ranjan well said

Yes, but one step down
@Shawn He wasn't mate Djokovic was his problem that year. Nadal had spent too much juice on Federer, he couldn’t do the same thing on Novak.
Stueww Nadal had tactical problems in 2011 . His serve wasn’t good enough and got punished by Djokovic and his agression from the baseline wasn’t up to the task . Nadals backhand imo was lacking penetration consistently that year and his forehand up the line combined with his court position wasn’t threatening enough for Djokovic. All those things he adjusted in 12-13 and guess what he started to beat Djokovic 6 out of 7 matches .
@@ertugrulkorpinar51 Exactly, his returns too weak is exactly what comes to my mind. Return short against Novak and you’re done and that’s what he fixed in 2012 and as you say, Nadal has started to dominate him again. I also think that his rivalry with Federer was so demanding, that mentally he was overwhelmed against Novak. Your analysis is always right, why don’t you come back to the Whatsapp group? Prudhvi just invited me.
@@ertugrulkorpinar51 we all know Djokovic's level had dipped marginally from 2012 till 2015 and Nadals had increased in 2013. Also those "adjustments" that Nadal made consisted mainly of him being able to step into the court and utilize his forehand with less effort than in 2011 due to Djokovic's reduced groundstroke depth. Don't tell me it's because Nadal stopped him from doing so because I've seen with my own eyes that the difference was infact Djokovic's inability to put pressure on Nadal with his groundstrokes off of the same patterns of play.
''I was winning against everybody and losing against Djokovic in finals''Rafa Nadal 0-6 this is where djokovic era started

to say that djokovic dominated nadal in 2011 is an understatement. he absolutely demolished him. he beat him in 6 back to back finals, which included Wimbledon and the US open. the other 4 titles are major tournaments in the form of masters 1000s. even more insane, he was so fucking OP this season he beat the god of clay in back to back clay court masters 1000s titles in rome and Madrid which was the most insane thing ever and unheard of. its never happened for a reason before and again, because only 2011 djokovic reached a level capable of beating nadal in back to back clay court tournament finals. even tho 2015 djokovic statistically done better overall, I think there's a strong argument to say that 2011 djokovic was his peak considering his wins and his absolute dominance of nadal. Even nadal himself described djokovic's performances as "probably he highest level of tennis that I ever saw."

Those matches on Indian Wells and Miami were very important. Djokovic started to believe he could beat him at big finals and then he was even able to dominate the clay season (even if he failed at Roland Garros). It was a moment when it changed the dominance between the two.
I think it's the biggest rivaldry ever
You can clearly see in the Rome final that nadal was moonballing quite often because he cannot find any other tactic to break djokovic down. Djokovic was getting frustrated by the moonballing to the point where he roars everytime he blast a winner out of nadal's high balls.

I've always thought of 2011 as Djokovic's best season, not 2015. The reason why is that tennis goes beyond the numbers (in this case titles and wins). In 2015, he faced a fairly weak tour and almost completely dominated. In 2011 though, he could do this to a very strong Nadal on clay. To me that speaks volumes. Also, Federer played better tennis, in my opinion, and so provided more competition when they did face each other.
Just because Rafa was not the best in 2015 doesn't mean the tour was weak. Roger in my opinion was one of his best versions in 2015 reaching 2 major finals, 3 masters finals and the atp finals finals.
@Shawn Reached the finals to please the fans?
@@sergiosarmiento4371 he truly got injured in the second half of 2011, I don't know somehow he was able to win the Us Open

Wawrinka won one major and reached 2 major semis.
Not their best years but by non big 3 standards that's actually pretty good, how could you say the tour was weaker than usual?
Even Rafa was not as bad as people suggest, the fact that he lost 6-7 times to Novak (the best player of the year) meant that he still could play well enough to reach him but not enough to beat him.
Sergio Sarmiento just because players make it to major finals doesn’t necessarily mean it still wasnt a weak year. Everyone was out of form and the non big 3 players were inconsistent out of slams. 2011 was against prime nadal and a decent fed

Best year in tennis history. Not only because of the numbers (70-6 and 43 wins in a row) but also because of the way he did it. Defeating 6 straight times Nadal, even on his surface, is just the most unbelievable achievement in tennis. And I enjoyed Federer at his best in 2006, he was unique, but this level of tennis is too much. You won't see those rallies ever again. And in this video, they missed US Open 2011, which was the climax of tennis.

Djokovic 2011-the highest level of tennis ever played
Tennis TV really being straightforward😂
A curious thought about their head to head in 2011 is that in Indian Wells and Miami, both hard courts, Djokovic won by 2 sets to 1 and on clay, where Rafa was supposed to have more chances of winning, the Serb went 2 sets to against Nadal. That season broke Rafa's heart on the Grand Slams. That 2012 Australian Open loss must had been difficult for him to absorb, losing three GS finals in a row to the same opponent. Hats off to Djokovic!
@Shawn Nadal lost the final match to Djokovic in 4 Masters 1000, at Wimbledon and US Open. What kind of knee problem gives you no trouble beating players like Federer, Murray, Berdych, Tsonga (all inside the top 10 in that season) but makes it difficult against Djokovic?! This has nothing to do with injury. Rafa had to win from 5 to 6 matches in every one of those tournaments he fell in the final round to Djokovic. The Serb was simply too good for everyone in 2011. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Nadal fan, but blaming on an injury to justify being schooled by Novak when he was at a higher level, that's just lack of humbleness.
@Shawn I'm pretty sure he didn't skip Wimbledon because he had 2000pts to defend, a world number 1 ranking at stake and obviously, as the best player of the world, the obligation of playing the tournament as he is a sponsored professional player. They might say in press conferences they play for the fans, but Nike, Richard Mille, Kia, Babolat and others disagree.
Even enough the 2015-16 Djokovic had better results, this year he performed in a way that we'll not see for decades in tennis.
What amazes me is how can a guy so drastically like this and dominate in a span of hardly 4 months. In 2010 US Open he was just outclassed by Nadal and just after 4 months he completely dominated everyone and won even on clay
2011 was clearly the best year of Nadal’s career. He won just about every match he was supposed to win. 2011 was also one of Federer’s strongest years post-2010.
However, Novak was just a step above and made it his year. 🐐

Don't comment like this to get likes, ok
There is no objective GOAT imo
I love Novak's shirt and shorts design in Madrid, the brown/orange
Two things I love about this video:
1. Nadal's points. People can see how well Nadal was playing and it still wasn't enough to beat this Novak.
2. Novak's backhand. He doesn't have that backhand anymore. I think it was gone after 2015 or maybe after 2016. He was just hugging the baseline and smashing ball early. Incredible angles and incredible power.
he started getting back now though, not similar to his 2011 but definitely more efficient now
His backhand is still good but he mostly just hits deep with it now. It’s not as offensive as here but still good

The way he dominates baselines rallies, defends and barely makes an unforced error made me think this guy is going to win a lot of titles and going through the years boy he did. 2011 was a season that made me realise Djokovic can be the best ever player despite being far behind in big titles. It was foreshadowing of what was to come. He's a machine and mentally unmatched.
In terms of toe to toe moments and quality thier Miami encounter is the greatest Miami match of all time. And so is thier roma and Madrid games. Unbelievable
Fed Kyrgios 2017?
@@anonymousLeroy nah, it was good, but this one was better.
WHAT A FIGHTER...MR DJOCO..
10 years later he would have most masters in history (37) and also won all of them at least twice !!!!the real GOAT......
Is incredible that playing in clay like this, Roger Federer beat him in RG semifinal
Djokovic was leading 7 :0 against Nadal until Monte Carlo 2012, scary
'11 Nole vas out of this world. David vs goliat. It was like watching Kasparov in a chess game, every move was perfect
Since 2011 he has dominated Nadal most of the matches they had played. And he still does it.
Nadal leads 9-6 at GS matches, the most important item for Nadal's fanboys
@@leoxardisimo as a results of the previous matches they played before 2011.
Well, in 2012 and 13 Nadal won most of the matches. Then they faced each other a lot of times during 2015-16 in Rafa's absolute worst period so that explains why Novak won most of the matches since.
@@carlosmateos6567 Why are you discounting anything before 2011?
@@NLLeFa nop, just in 2012 he won 3-1 but since then again the domination of Djokovic is really clear
I still remember this year, it was AMAZING. After that, Wimbledon/Us Open/AO happened...
Fedal dominates in the tour?
Djokovic: hold my beer
I believe it is the best season in the history of tennis. Pete Sampras has called it the best season in the history of sports (in general).
The GOAT coming of age!
Djokovic dominated Nadal three years: in 2011(6 wins), in 2015 (4 wins),
and in 2016 (3 wins).
Nadal thanked all the Gods in RG 2011 when Federer won the semis against Djokovic.
1st time I watched tennis on television was the 2011 novak, and i was like OMG is this guy even human, and ive been a fan eversince
The win on the Australian open was great but when he proved he was there to stay and dominate the circuit was in the IW and Miami. He had tough matches and was able to prevail against a player dominated their head to head before that.
And then he was able to defeat him on clay like nobody else did it before or after (in fact only Thiem is consistent in defeating Nadal on clay at least on one match every season). It's a pity he failed big time on RG semis because i think that was destined to be the most challenging final to Rafa (to be honest Federer had it's chances in that final and played probably his best on clay, but he missed too many opportunities)

2011 and 2015 versions of Djoker: god of tennis, especially at Doha in 2016 (Nadal was destroyed). Alien with perfect mind and form. 2019-2023: Djoker's 2nd phase prime (and gold medal in 2024). G.O.A.T.!
He was literally lights out in 2011
@Shawn keep writing this idiotic comment over and over again, after all you have to convince yourselve and other pathetic haters like you to believe into this bullshit and justife Rafa and other players Nole dominated fair and square.. grow up kid and give credit where credit is due👊🏻👊🏻
@Shawn lol 2011 nadal was at his peak what the hell are you talking about. He was world number 1.
@@aranyaism Calm down dude and don't let this troll nobody "shawn" guy to trigger you. He is a famous troll who also trashtalks on Nadal and Federer all the time, this kid has no life and all he can do is trying to trigger everybody in the comment section.
Greatest season (one of the three), including 2015 and 2023
I never seen this level in tennis
2011 - the year where ppl started hating him too because of his success
The year 2011of djokovic described Andre Agassi as " the season never seen before in tennis history." He was utterly right. Quality and level of both players was insane. Out of six final he beated 3 times king rafa on clay. That's not happening to see everytime. During 2011 to 2021(july) novak won 19 slams rafa won 9 fedrer won 5 slams. Fedrer should thank novak for protecting his 20gs record till year 2020. Else rafa would have 25 slams now.
twice on clay, 3 on hardcourts, and 1 on grass ( Madrid and Rome on clay, IW, Miami, USO on HC, and Wimb on grass ).
Novak Djokovic was not initially perfect, unlike Nadal and Federer. However, what makes Djokovic great is his ability to find shortcomings even in opponents who appear flawless. In 2011, facing two of greatest tennis players, he demonstrated there are opportunities to win if one relentlessly exploits their weaknesses.
17:50 omg this shot, out of nowhere ! Nole the best
