You are not alone.. or maybe it's just the 2 of us
so the 4 square i know of is a game where you hit a dodge ball (old school rubber and air one) back and forth between the ppl in each square, and if you miss or step out of the square you were out, and anyone in a lower numbered square moves up. usually they would be numbered and the one at 4 was the king of 4 square that that recess.
I never heard it called it 4 square, but I heard it called hand-ball and/or European Hand-ball but not 4 square
I live in canada, and literally everyone’s favourite game in grade 8 was 4 square.

I've played it a bit before but never made any videos on it. Its interesting but takes a long time to tune an engine perfectly I noticed.
@@kANGaming Yes, its definitly tricky to get the hang of and the videos can be quite extensive. A lot of people who play it stream it in twitch.
kAN Gaming once you figure out timing/compression and cam profile you can design an engine in about 5 mins. Now you can spend hours fine tuning but 90% of the engine build is timing/compression/cam profile.

I’m in the United States and here four square and king and queen are two different games four square is in four squares and king and queen is a ring of people with someone in the middle

We played foursquare at my elementary school.
The squares were painted in neon orange.
I like how in the final moments before their things exploded we just saw ‘L’ on the underside of Kan’s vehicle

OK so 4 square is basically a set of squares similar to how they are sectioned in the arena, and each person has a square. The rules may vary greatly between what the person in square 4 sets them to, but ultimately the goal is to not have the ball bounce in your square and then bounce again without you having touched it. In classic four square, this would mean hitting it into another person's square. If you hit it and it hits your square, you're out. If you hit it outside of the squares, you're out. This was a game that took up most of my recesses in elementary and middle school and I was not half bad at it.

We called 4 square Kings Court. This game involves four or more players, one for each court(corner). Extra player wait in the challenge line. The purpose of this game is to displace a player from another court. The player in the “King” court serves the ball into any one of the other 3 courts by bouncing it on the center square. Players in each court must hit the ball back into another player’s court by bouncing it on the center square. If a player misses the ball or does not hit the center square when hitting it to another court, this is a “miss”. If you miss you go to the back of the queue of challengers, and a new player starts at position 4. Everyone else moves up a place. Match starts again with the ball in the 'Kings' hand.

The objective of four square is to eliminate other players to achieve the highest rank on the court, and this is done by bouncing the ball back and forth between quadrants. 4 square is like tennis or table tennis, you try to bounce the ball into their square and out so they don't catch it. If they catch it, play continues, if they miss catching, they're out. If you leave you square or fail your serve (miss someone's square or serve to an empty one) you're out. In elementary school, when the person was out, another came in. Usually it's the last one in the game, wins.
I've never heard of or played four square on like the playgrounds/recess and stuff when I was younger. I only remember tag, lots of Beyblades, and a zombie game we all played with the monkey bar dome things. Anyone remember playing that as a kid? Aside from Beyblades, that zombie game was the most popular thing every kid tried to play, had like 10-15 kids playing on average.
It went like this, one kid was on the outside as a zombie and had to reach through the bars, and whoever he/she touched becomes infected and leaves the dome, then tries to tag the others. It was more or less a last man standing thing, and LET ME TELL YOU, being one of the few last survivors is horrifying as a kid because all I can see is a mass of bodies around the entire dome, sides and top, trying to reach us. It was the most fun I ever had as a kid aside from Beyblades on crooked and offset picnic tables XD

New Zealander here, 4 square is a very popular game in school and the schools specifically draw lines for 4 square
The only difference being is its called handball and can also be played with 2 players, but the rules are the exactly like scrappy described them

let me explain four square, the rules that my elementary school had (which is where i learnt to play, a long time ago) were that there would be 4 players each in their own square all numbered 1-4 and the person on the first square which is the best square to be on, bounces a ball on to someone elses square and that happens until a ball bounces on someones square and it lands on the ground out of bounds getting the person out.. this is in canada btw

4 square. Played it back in elementary and I'm 29 lol. Essentially 4 squares. 1 person in each square. 1 large rubber ball. You have to bounce it into another person's square. If it bounces twice in one square or bounces in the square and bounces outside, that person in that square is out.
This continues until there is only one person left.
I believe that's the rules kan. But I may be missing a few lol

We always used foam dodgeballs, way easier to grip and throw with one hand. For four square we used a rubber kickball.

4 Square is known in new Zealand, but usually we call it 2 Square or hand ball
