It's a speaker in an injection molded plastic box. How hard can it be? Yes, it's a minor step up from the stock speaker, which all to often appears to be an afterthought in the design of the radio, but what we really need is a vibration and resonant-free enclosure. Maybe something powered (amplified) with a communications-specific parametric eq. Oh, and can't cost more than the radio. I use a 6x9 speaker in a cheap particle board box from a car stereo store, put some stuffing inside from my wife's sewing supplies and it sounds fantastic. Cost me about $25.
I agree We had some in the Radio Shop that sounded Great, but I purchased one that looked just like this that sounded bad no low tones, Really Cheap Speaker not up to the Motorola Quality Sound of my 2 I have on my EMCOMM equipment.
Power poles are great connectors for all applications, they come in different colors and can be stacked in different ways to prevent accidental connections.
Great channel and I enjoy every episode. Just one thing I wish you and many other Hams would change is slow down when saying your callsign. You know it very well, but others, especially over the air do not and have trouble understanding. Keep up the good work.
I bought that exact speaker for $11 on line like 5 years ago. You can't get them for that anymore. The work great. I used it today for Pota. Kenwood uses the same one and puts their logo on it
That is typical for most manufactors. Go to your local home supply center,, and look at the selection of refridgerators. 2 or 3 will be identical, with different name brands on them!
I may need to pick a few of those up once my radio budget recovers from the DX Commander sale! Nice looking speaker that I can see being added to my Lido mount for the truck and possibly one for the home QTH. Thanks for showing this, Mike!
just ordered the speaker, I tried to get the expedition Thursday the 6th when I got home from work, there wasn't any to be found from the other three sources. I did get the nelson EFHW a good while back and I was not disappointed even had a contract with brazil on 17 meters
I have a 2M / 440 mobipe radio as a base station at home, and have been using a small external speaker attached, for years. I would rather use and wear out the external speaker, than the radio's small internal speaker.
Why on earth would you use power poles on a speaker? It would be far to easy to mix them up in a tight area and end up plugging the speaker into a power supply.
I can get the same speaker from a truck stop a little cheaper . That is a generic speaker that you can buy and put what ever name you want on them and/or the package . It is a good speaker however
Got a speaker like that years ago with a molex plug on it. A few minutes with a soldering iron and I put a 1/8 phono plug in place of the moles. The speaker works well. Have one in my car and one on a radio in my shack.
The problem with Lido is that the owner is terrible and if you have a problem, well he will answer you in a rather inappropriate way and you are sure to stay with your problem. He only wants to sell, without any follow-up and respect for the guarantee or the human being. He sells expensively the same equipment available elsewhere by affixing his name to it. To avoid! There are other options by the way!

Looks like my Motorola speaker. Grabbed my in the scrapyard, probably from the 90s mobilephones in car. Have mine for my vhf-station 👌🏼
I have one from my old car phone. Great little speaker.

I would never put powerpoles on audio cables... to easy to get mixed up with DC power. Poof! But to each his own! Great speaker.

Looks like I'm gonna have to get some for my emcomm group

Great spkr. Just started making my own speaker and incorporating it into my DIY Power Bank. Cheers from old George in the UK

Nice!! I miss HF mobile! That’s a great setup! Thank you for the video and 73 de WW4FL

Hey Mike. How's the audio quality compared to the MFJ-281 (the little square speaker)? (You have to have an MFJ-281 to compare to, right?) 73!
I would certainly hope they sound better than the 281, lol.
I bought the same unbranded speaker off Amazon for $16. No grommet where cable exits enclosure. Kinda sucks

Looks like a lot of generic speakers on eBay and Amazon.
It's the same speaker....lots of companies re-brand it.
I got the same looking speaker from HRO for $14.95 to use with my FTM-400 in my car.

Nifty speaker Mike! Thanks for sharing it. 73
Got my attention
Seems like a double female connector would be better and easier than power poles.
What if we order one and it sounds like the crapy one I got from Amazon looked good but sounded terrible.
I don't believe the mono plug will work on a Xiegu G-90, will it Mike ? or does the mono end have to be changed out?
Bad practise to use red and black power poles for a speaker. One day your gonna run 12vdc through something you shouldn't!
And APP's do come in more colors than red and black!
Is there a different speaker element inside this compared to the other speakers of this exact casing I bought on Amazon a couple years ago?
Yea, I got one from Amazon that sounded Terrible, a really Cheap Speaker in them. No Base at all just all High squeaky voices.
I have something like that and they are so much better than the stock speaker.
Looks like an opek speaker 🤔 73 Ce4ugi
I can pick up an old Moto speaker for less than that!
I can smell that old Moto speaker from here lol!
Why don't u just plug it in to the mobile
This exact speaker is $10 on aliexpress
