As for the temperature, I assume you are referring to the water temp, which room temp is totally fine. Each mold has a suggested thickness, and that's a good starting point; you need to do some testing to find the best thickness for your particular material; each hide will react a bit differently. From my own experience, 0.5mm thick or thin than the suggested thickness is the maximum range for workable results, but yours may vary.
