A long time ago when I was newer at war thunder my friend said "hey you should get the BMD it's a really good vehicle and it's cheap" and I got it for 24$ so seeing it now getting buffed and the price go way up I'm glad I got it definitely worth what I spent
Same, I bought it a while ago for about $28. I enjoy it more than the 2M and ended up getting a talisman for it. They're up to about $80 dollars now. Kind of wish I would've picked up the Moderna as well when it was cheap.
Still waiting for the BMD-2 to be introduced in this game. That little runt of an IFV is smaller than the BMD-4 and its firepower is equivalent to BMP-2 (Same gun and same missile), albeit smaller crew size (literally only having Commander that also act as gunner and a driver for crew)
Tell me about it all of them should be moved back down to 9.7 again or if Gaijin wants to make me happy 9.3. 40mm APFSDS damage sucks and the damn rack replenish delay drives me nuts (not how it works IRL btw). They were sooo much fun before volumetric now its good luck actually killing a MBT from the front before you run outta ready rack.
Just keep in mind that nothing will ever get the best out of it if it isn't Russian. Through all these years, if a nation gets something good, they either nerf it a week later and/or introduce a Russian counterpart that is better in every way. I mean, they don't even hide their blatant bias anymore..
Aaaahh remember when this thing had a stock non tandem misile and it was bugged so you were able to equip 4 tandem and 30 normal missiles. I think it was also 8.3
I have never seen a tank turret launch like the M60A1(AOS) turret did at 19:11. That had to have landed at least 200 ft, if not 300 away from the initial blast

It's not IR-Track but optical track since it doesn't get interrupted trough countermeasures like IRST and Radar and I'm still mad the CV9040s didn't recieve it..... They were designed with that feature.
I never understand why so many people use vehicles with the pneumatic suspension system yet never utilise it, especially for the russian vehicles that get it with their poor gun depression. I bound the suspension keys to Alt+W,A,S,D, and R and F (raise / flatten). Binding it to those keys means I can use the suspension system on the fly. Its efficient enough that i can adjust the suspension in a couple seconds and still be ready to peek a ridgeline immediately afterwards. Better still is using the suspension to give myself depression over the rear if enemies below me come up from behind.
This is 9.7 and the oslot is 9.3, and this can kill tanks and light vehicles, and air targets at about the same range but have the option of missiles or guns, and oslot's stingers doesn't like to track drones, 0.3 br difference is "balanced". 2s38 does everything HSTVL does but with anti air added on top at a way lower BR, not to mention that Russian BMP/BMD chassis can sometimes bounce top tier apfads because volumetric and some kunts will say that Russian bias is not a thing. I have all nations at top tier but Russian and China and I have to say Russian is the most unfair to go up against at 5.7 and up.
It bothers me that everyone is calling it IRST when for these vehicles it is Optical Tracking. I know that from a gameplay pov they are near identical, it just irks me
there's no point in having this when you can get the BMP-2M for free it also has the same feature but with a rocket that have proxy and a range of a 10KM 😂😂
Solid vehicle, IRST is definitely improve AA capabilities of this vehicle. Minus point is its a really weak vehicle which dont have armor to defend even against 12.7mm but have armor to basicly spall every single APFSDS around. So there is no armor best armor on this vehicle

I think it is really stupid that the swedish Strf's don't get tracking, because they do have it in real life but gaijin just says that it is more like a mbt fire control system that can track air targets and hence it dosen't get it, even tho the Lvkv has the same system modeled which they only didn't remove because of balance.
To me I find the tracking fine and balanced it just give these vehicles more use it's really nice for the bmp 2m plus using it's burst missiles that have I think a 10 km range that people forget against choppers where there AA guns can't really do much about them it's very nice to have .
before they change it to secondary fire it was fine, the laser range finder worked when you try firing He with the autocanon, the bmp-3 also had that but since they change it, now is really wonky to use HE with the autocanon in the BMP-3 and BMD 12:37 for example

you could see it this way: they implemented a new feature, and the premium sales will pay the devlopers for the work. i am sure, the vehicles will get uptiered, when statistics that we never get to see tell the devs so, and when they see fit. ofc they will always understier some vehicles because of psychological reasons, to keep people engaged, and keep them buying.
BMD4 belongs at 8.7 hell I could even see it being 8.3 again. RUclipsrs put nonsense in the title for clickbait I've around 350 games in it at its current BR and it performs worse than similar IFVs with the only real difference being limited ammo in exchange for excellent mobility. The tracking rarely matters due to poor muzzle velocity on the HE belt and poor damage on the APDS making is extremely difficult to actually kill jets with it. I actually keep the BMP2 in my lineup to supplement my shilka (I've good aim I don't really need the tracking withing 1.6klm) as I don't value the tracking enough to use it on anything besides helis. Fun tank but it definitely belongs at 8.7 and not any higher.
Can you take out the AH-1F (the 9.7br) and show how to use it effectively? I’m just getting wrecked every time and it’s usually before I even find a target despite approaching the battle from treetop level and using any cover I can along the way. The thermals and proximity rounds are just absolutely brutal at 9.7. It feels really overtiered. I don’t take the atgm’s so I can use it first spawn and because their range is so shit that being close enough to use them means the enemy knows I’m there and hovering while guiding them in makes me too vulnerable.
Just first spawn it and fly besides the map onto their helicopter pad and just hover over it. Gajin made the AA do zero damage you can just spawn kill other helicopters spawning in.
In theory this vehicle is an airborn light tank which can carry 5 occupants beside the 3 men crew. My only question is: Where? And where are they dismounting?
There is a small hatch over the engine (soldat.pro/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/ec574b9f31e488d7e073f0c08bc489ce.jpg), and the infantry sit 2 on each side behind the turret basket and 1 more below the hatch itself. Apparently, just like the BMD-3, if the vehicle has to be airdropped there is a maximum of only 4 passengers.
I'm still holding onto the coupon for this thing... More feature it gets the more I just wanna activate it and play it, but I just hope at one point it's price goes up high enough that I'll be able to buy at least 2 premium vehicles from selling it.
I activated both the SDKFZ234/4 and IS7 coupons back in 2018. Regret that decision now that they both go for $1000+. Hold on to your coupon, it will only go up.

I wonder how does it work? You can measure speed, distance etc. of the air target you're shooting but somehow it calculates where you should shoot interesting
2s38 has two thermals so it can measure the distance and angle and calculate lead continiously. But the others don't have double thermals so they can't really, it's a mistake by gaijin.
Distance is measured by laser rangefinder and the milli second of deviation is used for the momentum or speed. Paired with the position in the FoV you get an movement that you then can highlight and track. You don't need 2 separate sights for this if you use rangefinder. And even with two different sights you would never had a really accurate distance. Problem is, this form of IRST should trigger LWS - which it currently doesn't. IRST on proper SAMs doesn't show range and so it is correct they don't trigger LWS. Just try to use 2S6 guns with an IRST lock - it didn't give a gun lead. Just autocorrects the SAM lead. Something that is wrong but it isn't the baddest thing ever.

At least on a bradley and bmd it can track targets for missiles and also measure lead for slow moving land targets like tank because you can lase it and then pull lead and it won't be that wrong. Against an air target you need to measure distance continuously, that's why the 2s38 has double thermals for triangulation

Most IFVs could be uptiered by 1.0 BR and still be useful and fun, and the BMPs are no exception

Was always 8.7 but having 30 missiles was so fun
Pneumatic suspension is really useful on hills and if you tap it once or twice to lower the back of it and that'll let you shoot behind yourself

2S38 is such a joke, especially that it's an SPAA implemented as a light tank so it can benefit from full APFSDS loadouts unlike SPAA like the OTO.

You can watch the enemy heli pad from here but it's kind of scummy... Cause 5 km ATGM helis camping their heli pad isn't scummy at 8.3

the BMD is like 65-70GJN right now which sold gets you around 59-61gjn. When gajin does a 50% sale thats 2 premium packs or 3x 180 prem days.

I recommend Germany. USA and Sweden are good too, yet Germany has an advantage in most areas. It also depends on what you like.
If you like air RB choose the USA or Russia
Sweden is a lot of fun since it got Finnish subtree so expect more German vehicles and also some Russian tanks so it's overall pretty strong tree
