I have gotten away from the TV, the bars, sports, etc., but to truly get away from it, one has to go to the hills or in the woods. Every time i see the rasta lifestyle, it makes me so sad. They're living an amazing lifestyle, while the lot of us are stuck staring at a screen in a cubicle 40 hours a week. They just all seem so mentally, physically, and spiritually fit.

This lifestyle is one that I have been moving closer and closer towards. I lived in the city for quite a long time, and moved back to live in a smaller city, and it still is not a happy place. I was so inspired by this documentary. I grew my locks to live my life as a Rastafarian, but living in NY has made it almost impossible, I want to move to the mountains, but I have a hard time letting go of the spoils of city life...running water.

I really enjoyed watching this documentary because it is so beautiful, peaceful, powerful and full of love and It sends a message to humanity. This family is the primary example of what real life is all about which is love, unity, respect, peace, etc, towards one another and this is how the most high Almighty God, creator of all things, the heavens and the earth, seen and unseen, wants it to be.
It is always interesting to hear and see documentaries about Rastafari; only to note that they are always told by people who are non-Rasta. Majority of the documentaries on Rastafari brethrens and sistrens are from the white European perspective. And, I notice that they always include common footage from regurgitated sources.

I showed this in my Anthropology class last night, oh man the professors reaction was dis-heartening. By using words such as extreme, and questioning the fathers intentions trying to infer the parents were living their lifestyle to benefit themselves and not the children. But I like to advise this beautiful family to keep living the paradise they have created and locating right now. Intermarry among your Rasta neighbors and married the children off and multiply. They need to drop the idea of going to Africa or Ethiopia to that matter. The culture they are fostering right now is perfect where they at. Africa would just break their heart. Try to get education in way of world business, medicine, law, military, engineering and some methods of agriculture that is suitable for their location; they could mix that up with their own culture. So what if he is still living with his parents as a grown man! I am a grown woman and stayed with my mother as an adult because houses do not just fall out the sky and land in your lap once you hit 18 years old! And people don't just land a job making so much money a year when they hit 18 years old, unless you had a will passed down to you. Furthermore, there is no rush for him to get married especially considering how corrupt and tainted people have become due to being socialized by society / media. He is lucky to have a beautiful strong family so spiritually centered. Also, I would rather stay with my mother than deal with some roommate. I have my own place now but only after years of studying in college.

In the mid 1990's I distinctly recall a brethren on radio pleading to his fellow brethrens, to stop perpetuating wrong information about "what is now called Jamaica culture." He explained that before, we did not know any better but as knowledge increase it was time to change. That appeal still stands. Knowledge has increased triplefold since 1996. Please do take time to study. Do not perpetuate the same misinformation to another generation. Same for many pastors. Rasta "is" a "conciousness in progress" that has morphed and become "stuck in various modes" of "different entities interpretations"...it has become everything to many, except becoming what it is. Because I was there and conscious enough in the 60's, 70's, 80's. I know, "rasta was ment to be a spiritually liberating process for aboriginals who had been wronged." Our "true" liberation was then ment to help other peoples...and the planet. From it's inception, there were those who saw "our (original aboriginal) liberation" coming and set out to infiltrate and orchastrate what "rasta" is and is not, to this day. Many of us are off our own path. What was ment to be the "truth" (rasta) of an "aboriginal people" has become an "orchastrated offshoot brand" of another (or other) "brand (s)." All aboriginals were not bought over on slave ships to the Americas. Many of us were already here with what is termed, woolly hair and negroid features. Haile Sellassie (or any other persons god) is not the god of aboriginals. Ones god, goddess self is the reflection in the mirror (that some have been taught to hate) awaiting "true" illumination of the whole and real self. Enough is enough. Stop leading another generation astray with "man made interpreted belief systems of rasta" and teach them to seek truth within themselves through discipline, humility and study, of all scriptures, aka, all written words...not just the bible.

Every time i see the rasta lifestyle, it makes me so sad. They're living an amazing lifestyle, while the lot of us are stuck staring at a screen in a cubicle 40 hours a week. They just all seem so mentally, physically, and spiritually fit.

I showed this in my Anthropology class last night, oh man the professors reaction was dis-heartening. I carefully watched the whole video. I don't want to get into the religion of Ras Teferi this and that. But I like to advise this beautiful family to keep living the paradise they have created and locating right now. Intermarry among your Rasta neighbors and married the children off and multiply. They need to drop the idea of going to Africa or Ethiopia to that matter. The culture they are fostering right now is perfect where they at. Africa would just break their heart. Try to get education in way of world business, medicine, law, military, engineering and some methods of agriculture that is suitable for their location; they could mix that up with their own culture. As long as they have their feet are firm on the foundation of their culture, none of the 'babylon' influence can pester the belief or culture they hold dearly. So what if he is still living with his parents as a grown man! I am a grown woman and stayed with my mother as an adult because houses do not just fall out the sky and land in your lap once you hit 18 years old! And people don't just land a job making so much money a year when they hit 18 years old, unless you had a will passed down to you. Furthermore, there is no rush for him to get married especially considering how corrupt and tainted people have become due to being socialized by society / media. He is lucky to have a beautiful strong family so spiritually centered. Also, I would rather stay with my mother than deal with some roommate. I have my own place now but only after years of studying in college.

ever since i was a kid till now i was very interessted in the rastafarai culture . i was raised catholic but never had a real feeling with it . ever since i was researching on rastafarai there where suddenly things that made a whole lot of sense . i'm starting to really really like the rastafarai culture :)
They admire the life they see in television,but that's the life we live. Mother nature is the most beautiful thing that Jah let us have. I love this life
In the mid 1990's I distinctly recall a brethren on radio pleading to his fellow brethrens, to stop perpetuating wrong information about "what is now called Jamaica culture." He explained that before, we did not know any better but as knowledge increase it was time to change.
That appeal still stands. Knowledge has increased triplefold since 1996. Please do take time to study. Do not perpetuate the same misinformation to another generation. Same for many pastors.
Rasta "is" a "conciousness in progress" that has morphed and become "stuck in various modes" of "different entities interpretations"...it has become everything to many, except becoming what it is.
Because I was there and conscious enough in the 60's, 70's, 80's. I know, "rasta was ment to be a spiritually liberating process for aboriginals who had been wronged."
Our "true" liberation was then ment to help other peoples...and the planet.
From it's inception, there were those who saw "our (original aboriginal) liberation" coming and set out to infiltrate and orchastrate what "rasta" is and is not, to this day.
Many of us are off our own path.
What was ment to be the "truth" (rasta) of an "aboriginal people" has become an "orchastrated offshoot brand"
of another (or other) "brand (s)."
All aboriginals were not bought over on slave ships to the Americas. Many of us were already here with what is termed, woolly hair and negroid features.
Haile Sellassie (or any other persons god) is not the god of aboriginals.
Ones god, goddess self is the reflection in the mirror (that some have been taught to hate) awaiting "true" illumination of the whole and real self.
Enough is enough. Stop leading another generation astray with "man made interpreted belief systems of rasta" and teach them to seek truth within themselves through discipline, humility and study, of all scriptures, aka, all written words...not just the bible.
