Today boxers are being coached by a fitness PTs but in the past boxers were coached by boxing legends

It’s true at part. All job roles are more accessible today than they once were. So we get a lot of low quality.
How do you become a legendary coach ? Got to start somewhere.

That thumbnail is GOATED... Great video as well... The Skill and Ring IQ are so important in such a chess-like sport.

I think he learnt about how inept he is against Usyk. I think part of that breakdown in the ring was he had given everything he has but Usyk still could out box him

Exactly! Aj had great success NOT because he can box great but because he’s more physical than opponents. Sbd he has only just come to realise this

Do you feel like boxers like AJ started boxing too late to become a true pound for pound? As someone that also started boxing late, but I have played football all my life I always have the thought in the back of my mind that I will never be a better boxer than I am football player simply due to time and experience. There are things I do on a football pitch that are second nature, don’t even have to think about it and skills that I have mastered since I was a child and have had years to refine them. And I couldn’t imagine someone that starts playing football at 18 no matter how hard they train to make up for the amount of skill development and overall iq that players that have played all their lives have. I can only imagine it is a similar thing in boxing. Has there ever been a pound for pound fighter that has actually started the sport late? If so, I would imagine it could only be a heavyweight as they require the least skill out of all the weight classes. But there always seems to be a gap in skill and iq between fighters that have competed from young (canelo, Crawford, tank, Bivol, beterbiev etc) compared to others that picked up the sport in their later teens

Yes this is very true to an extent.
Bernard Hopkins started later than aj and has all time great skills so it can be done.
The difference is aj is hugely physical in comparison to his opponents. He relied on the advantage to win all fights; naturally. But by doing so he’s skill didn’t develop.
At a lower level he boxers may of been better but were over whelmed. Dubois is as big and strong as aj but a better boxer.
Age makes a massive difference. Starting young makes it much easier to autonomously learn a skill but it still can be done at later ages.

@@regalrobertboxing never knew Bernard Hopkins started late that’s pretty amazing. Especially because of how long he fought for and his style heavily relied on his iq. That’s a great example, thanks

@@jdotman09 what you’re saying usually is 100% spot on but where aj has so much time on his hands to learn he should be doing better than this.
When you see boxers who trained from young they do have a slight advantage you never really see them in . Wrong positions even for a moment. How Whyte was ko by povetkin or aj by Dubois doesn’t usually seem to happen.
Yes he was incarnated which is where he learned to box, he became prison champion. Likely being in prison gave him unlimited time to truly learn the art.

My thing is, Why is a professional boxer like Joshua not seeing flimstudy of the greatest heavy weight s, Ali Louis Dempsey Johnson, etc. It's really basic. To me, Joshua was literally on the level of any street thug out there, From Tha Bronx to Brickston , Knock Out Mode. No back foot traps, Feints , authoritative Jabs, Lead Rights, ect. Plus, not for nothing. Training fitness when it's not sports specific is actually quite detrimental. Joshua looked a lil too muscle bound. Stiff movements, hence why he ended up stiff on the floor. Wel, you are across the pond where the sun is pretty much coming up, So Top Of Tha Morning 🌄 TO Ya
