In all honesty, I’m not sure how well the rebranding/renaming will drum up additional subscribers/views, etc. I have zero doubt that any folks have somehow missed your channel to date.
I tried your emergency mobile mount antenna with 28 1/2 feet of wire on a pole, and it tuned up on all bands with my G-90! Worked Europe on 20 meters SSB, with 20 watts!! ;)
AWESOME! Like the new name. Your call sign was nice, but for new people it makes sense. Thanks for the power supply info. Love the experimentation with the emergency wire antenna
My first HF Radio which I still have and use because it's an unkillable tank is an old Icom 737A, when I picked it up off the old ham selling it, he randomly included an even more ancient Kenwood PS30 power supply. Literally walked out of his shack having that IKEA start the car moment! Best $300 I have spent to date.
Thank you for all the great content Mike! One of my all time favorite videos of yours was when you were going through a rough personal time, and were just hiking to your bench and talking about life. That hit me deep at the time and got me hooked on your videos. I’m still running my Radio Shack PS!! 73 man!
Cool. I have that exact same Radio Shack power supply. I use it for running a IC-706MK2G that I keep as a spare radio for experimenting. My current Power supply is a MFJ 4245MV. It runs everything at 13.8VDC all at once.
Mike, you asked what we think about the new channel name and then proceeded to say exactly what I was thinking… that it sucks. 😂 I liked the old channel name just fine and I think everyone is used to it. But I understand you put a lot of thought into it and it will probably benefit you in the long run for all the reasons you mentioned. So more power to you and good luck. Btw, would you care to share any other alternative names that you were considering??
how about "Ham Radio Shack? haha. Great video. Lots of fun and good info. I'm close to writing my test and will definitely be trying some of the options you post, so thanks for the info!
I’m case you are searching. The MFJ PSU is a rebadged Nissei NS1230D and the Yaesu supply is a rebadged Diamond GSV-3000 (except the Diamond doesn’t have a cigar ‘car type’ socket.
Speaking of Astron, I won an SRM-30M at the Berryville (VA) Hamfest in 2016. It's still my primary shack power supply. I also got the Alnico M330 MVT. Loved them both.
FWIW--Based on recommendation, my first power supply was a JetStream from R&L. It was great until it wasn't. I started seeing interference roll across the waterfall on 20m. Most of the time. Not always, but most of the time. And only on 20m. I now have an Astron. Heavy and big. No interference. (It does make a weird shutter/vibration though.)
I love your channel and all the BILLIANT content. Keep the new name simple.. "K8MRD RADIO" . You can take that to the bank. Don't align your brand to any corporate "theme". "HamTube" just seems icky

I am surprised at how much work you did for a fan dipole. Then I realized your part of Texas may not be plentiful in trees. I haven't put my ATAS-120A on my car yet, but my plan for portable POTA type stuff is to use a coax jumper from the SO-239 to an EFHW or random wire antenna. K8mrd radio stuff had more of your personality, but i agree the new name will probably better for growth for the reason you mentioned and more. You definitely should have more than 30k subs by now. Funny, that was my first power supply too. It's working now 16-24 hours a day keeping the Georgia wires X room hime node running on an ftm-300. A real mule.

I think I liked the old name better. Putting tube in the name seems kind of cheesy, unless that's what you wanted to gain. You could have done k8mrd ham radio stuff too. Having your callsign in it makes you very well known. The couple times I've heard you on the air doing pota, it was immediately recognizable who you are. Unless I watched a lot of content, I would never recognize Josh, ham radio dude, or Jason from ham radio 2.0. But I have your callsign memorized because it's in your channel name.
I don't think it sucks for a name. But what your channel is mainly and the name does not match. Tube to me would say old FT-101 radios with tube or even tvs with tube. I would suggest to keep k8mrd radio stuff or come up with a different name. That's my opinion and input. Good luck.
Ham Radio Tube sounds way too close to "Ham Radio Dude" which isn't as good as a channel as K8MRD and can lead to confusion. If you want a fancy name then look at, "Ham Radio Ops, Ham Radio Guide, Ham Radio Time, Ham Radio Info, etc. But not Ham Radio Tube.
Not a fan of the new name......just saying. Sounds too much like Ham radio "DUDE" not saying his is a bad name for a channel but IMHO it is too similar and may cause confusion for people. Oh BTW I have that power supply and absolutely love it!!!
I loved the old name. Best name of all the ham tubers.
1000% agree. "K8MRD Radio Stuff" is a fantastic brand.

K8MRD Ham Radio Stuff
We are still gonna call the channel KMurder ;) But definately love this video. Lots of Satan to enjoy. Thanks Mike.
Ham Radio with K8MRD would have sounded better in my opinion. Of course I know that my opinion doesn't carry weight
K8Commander antenna
How about "All things ham".
Nope. No good. You MUST retain your call in the title somewhere... Gerry VE7BDM
K8mrd
Ham radio
Thankfully you didn't name it HAM RADIO TUBE POINT OHHHH!! 🤣🤣🤣
🤣
Oh dang, I'll re-re-brand it now!
@@hamradiotube 😂😂😂😂
Call it Amateur Radio Crash Course 3.0

What ever you want is fine with me.

Ham Radio Stuff
Um
ham radio dude.
Ham radio tube
I don't think it sucks for a name. But what your channel is mainly and the name does not match. Tube to me would say old FT-101 radios with tube or even tvs with tube. I would suggest to keep k8mrd radio stuff or come up with a different name. That's my opinion and input. Good luck.
Bit its on RUclips...
