    Hi as a “bread head” I found this very interesting. I have done something similar on natural venues using either slop or dry mixes with a lot of success. One myth about bread is that people believe it is filling and a winter bait but I don’t subscribe to that idea! It has less food content than pellets but we sometimes we use a lot of loose fed pellets, over a session, and, I think a pint of pellets has a lot more feed content than the same amount of bread! So if the fish eat less in the cold why do match anglers, on some venues, feed a large ball, food for thought and thinking keeps you on top of your game, and that applies to pleasure and match fishing. Brains beats money every time!! Regards Bill

    A few years back I was blanking and getting despondent. So a m8 took me out to Reefham fishery ( this fishery). I caught and caught and caught, etc, etc it took just over an hour before I had enough. The part of the day was the burger van.

    Not my cup of tea, place is basically a man made oversized fish tank. Prefer to fish more natural venues and rivers where water craft and experience come into play more than guaranteeing a net full of stocked fish.

    • @FromTheWatersEdgeTV
      @FromTheWatersEdgeTV  5 лет назад +4

      Fair play Matt, commercial fisheries aren't everyone's cup of tea. We also like fishing natural venues, gravels pits and rivers etc As you'll see from our channel, variety is the spice of life! :-) Even with this sort of fishing though, water craft and experience do come into it still, you're never guaranteed a net of fish.

      A lot ban floating bread and surface baits, but everyone's rules differ I guess.

    Love your vids but dont like pole fishing ,i like to cast a float out traditionally with a rod n line :}

    • @CB-xr1eg
      @CB-xr1eg 5 лет назад

      Nothing wrong with traditional fishing, I do it myself but I also use a pole from time to time. The benefit of using the pole is accuracy, you can place your bait exactly where you want it, also feeding is very accurate. Using bread like Steve is doing, if you cast it out with a rod and reel you would probably lose it off the hook.

    • @FromTheWatersEdgeTV
      @FromTheWatersEdgeTV  5 лет назад +1

      Thats fair play Ivor, each and everyone to there own! It's definitely nice to fish with a float and rod and line, it's also nice to fish with a feeder and watch a quiver tip, we like it all! :-)

      @@CB-xr1eg I was always a "traditional" rod and reel man till I thought I would try a pole. I have been amazed how much fun it can be using a pole. On a windy day, to be able to put bait in the same place time after time is really useful. If you get the chance to give it a try, go for it!

    • @CB-xr1eg
      @CB-xr1eg 5 лет назад

      @@markvenn230 I do use a pole as |I said above. There is nothing wrong with trying different methods of fishing.
      Lot of people decry the pole for some reason but I enjoy using a margin pole ( 8.5 mtrs ) and in fact I'll be using it tomorrow as it looks like no rain is forecast in my area. Good luck to you whatever style of fishing you do. It's catching that counts when all is said is done!

    Change your bread for hook baits to Warburtons toasty the tesco stuff is crap

    • @colhughes3892
      @colhughes3892 5 лет назад

      Lol tight as a ducks bum lol but really use warburtons toasty it has a doughier consistency than any other bread and it's a lot more durable and will stay on for longer and don't use it straight from the packet put it in the microwave for fifteen seconds then roll it with a rolling pin and put it in a resealable sandwich bag it makes it so much better and there's no need to squeeze every bait it's a case of just punching it out and putting on the hook which saves a lot of time in a match its made a huge difference to my winter catches

    • @colhughes3892
      @colhughes3892 5 лет назад

      I forgot to add that doing his will give you a lot more time in the water because you can miss multiple bites without having to ship back your pole to re bait and you can lift and drop without it coming off ;)
