    Idk, my time in the army I’ve tried plenty of times for special ops type stuff. They definitely don’t look for the most fit guy. They look for the right guy. The “perfect” score person sure is chosen, but that’s not always the case.

      @@devinmansanarez3260 I actually went in as an officer so I already had my degree when I commissioned. But I hope the video doesn’t discourage anyone from going for HRT. You neither need to be a prior special operations nor prior regular military to try out for the HRT. But if you don’t go the TRP route you need at least 3 years of experience as a regular agent instead of 2 before you may attend selection.

      1) don't put yourself down dude. I have struggled with the same contrary to friends etc. encouraging me otherwise. Don't put yourself down. At the same time don't feel shame if you don't. An agent career is still so commendable. My brother just died at a real young age as an ER guy and saved many lives, was about to enter med school. He did this all only a few years after being a party animal with a drinking issue. It was at a point as young HS student I'd have to stay up until the early morning to be on standby because...well he'd freak out intoxicated, I had/have training in combative things and my parents...well never knew if they'd need Mt help to subdue him. And he turned his life around and at his funeral a month ago we've had an outpouring of support from literally everyone at his hospital at how damn professional and good he was. I don't know if that helps, I'm just mentioning it to show you can do it no matter what your past looks like. I'd like to be HRT, it's unlikely but...He proved to me no matter where you're at...you can at least try. So don't be scared to give it a shot. If you fail, you're more of a man than 99% who are too scared to even attempt though. So don't abandon the dream if it is what you want. You may be rejected several times and told no, but I truly believe where there's a will there's a way. I've told myself the same thing for too long regarding my goals and recently as aforementioned I've realized...it's not what my idol would want me to think. Good luck brother. Whatever you do, you got this. Believe in yourself and keep your head up.

    Helicopter is a separate unit entirely. Most are prior military, but you do not need to be in HRT to be a helicopter pilot for them.

    • @JJ-ki6sv
      @JJ-ki6sv 3 месяца назад

      Also, the pathway of joining the military to get to HRT is completely unecessary. Many are former military. Many are former civilian law enforcement (usually SWAT). Some are just other agents who tried out. You have to be excellent, but you don't have to do all this distraction nonsense. Same is true for other agencies.

      no better way to cause emotional, physical stress, and mental stress. the other reason they do it because they need to know that if you're in the field for days fighting or at a standoff, you'll be just fine. train how you fight type of thing.

    Know video is a bit old but great coverage concerning the unit and open source type stuff. Especially concerning the fact not all members were prior sof, some would say it's all prior sof/sf which isn't the case, since people who may pursue that goal realize they don't need to join a high speed military unit but will be more competitive to get into HRT as a result. Which is where law enforcement experience & a very good degree choice comes into play for those who don't go the high speed mili route.

      The FBI HRT and the various law enforcement teams are different in that military teams are not supposed to be used in the US. They operate under different ROE entirely. I can see HRT, but we have too many swat/specialized teams in law enforcement generally.

    I was planning on going to school just to join the FBI in hopes of joining HRT, but with the FBI being overly political the last 4 years plus their botched involvement with Waco and Ruby Ridge, I decided to look elsewhere.
    FBI has a lot of revamping to do. Sadly it won't happen in this administration.

      Political or not, it doesn’t matter what your political stance is if you want to go into the HRT. All that matters if your willing to get the innocent out of dangerous situations and take down the bad guys.

    • @Anonymous-wk1jt
      @Anonymous-wk1jt 2 года назад +1

      You shouldn’t decide not to join the HRT because of political reasons. The HRT doesn’t act based on the politics of those in charge, their job is to get your ass to safety, period. If politics were your reason to decline a position in a unit which is involved in 0% of the politics back at the office, you may be better suited elsewhere.
      And I find it mildly (alarmingly) disappointing that you take Waco and Ruby (yes, I know it was terrible, I know the story) to say that the entirety of this specific unit was not worth it for you.
      The ones at Waco and Ruby were different people, different agents, and do not represent the HRT or even the FBI. People love to bring these two up, but _never_ bother to consider every successful operation, and the operations they don’t hear about conducted by professionals who work hard to improve themselves and get the job done. This is a team that trains with Tier 1 SOF units, and their success surpasses their failures.
