🙌 Thank you man!
Such a sick groove... You explain these so well man. Thanks
Edit: Those Video stats are mental.... Love your work ethic man...
Aw thanks so much Sam. Haha I thought it'd be useful to list those stats at the end, and I wonder how many people actually see that haha. So thanks for telling me about it, now I know 1 guy saw it :D
@@ArtOfDrummingHQ Your Welcome man... you deserve my full view.
that vest is so iconic xD also great lesson, you have insane limb independence
HEHE Yeah it kinda stuck isn't it. The vest gives me powers when I'm filming hahaha. Thanks again Viraaj, I know your independence is going to be killer too!
Are you using rim shots during the powerful down beats on the snare?
Yes All of the backbeats
Hi, please can you explain how the first part of the song Periphery - Ragnarok is played. I struggle with that rhythm and I can't understand how it was played (especially bass drum and hi-hat..of course in relation to the snare)...ehh..help please!
Oh there's a polyrhythm with the kick drum going every 3rd 16th, the snare fills in also on a repeated pattern. Easier to explain in a video, will do that next week :)
@@ArtOfDrummingHQ You are the best!!! That would be of GREAT help to me, and I believe to many others, thank you very much! It would be great If you can explain how it would be best to learn that rhythm, I mean maybe practice two legs first, or first right foot and right hand?! ...
Okay I'll try to include as much help for practicing that. Will take longer longer to do but I think it will be worthwhile :)
@@ArtOfDrummingHQ Thank you very much in advance for your effort, I am really looking forward to it, because I am very interested in learning that rhythm.THANKS!!!
Excellent lesson! I like that groove.
PD: What e-drum set do you have?
Roland TD30K and thanks for your compliment!
How are you playing that double kick? Is that a combination of swivel and slide?
Also I am using the same demon drive pedal with stock beaters, so does does it feel to add more weight ?
Ah, yes its sorta slide with some swivel. It's how Dave Dicenso does it. But I started with slide and then the swivel got naturally added in the more I play
Oh I only use the ahead switch kick beaters because they were a gift and I think they look cool. I suspect the extra weight helps with the swing momentum though. But I play at my work place, dw5000 with stock beaters too and they're fine too. Honestly they don't make enough of a difference to make you faster or slower. Chris Turner is a fine fine example of this hahaha :)
@@ArtOfDrummingHQ Haha you are correct, watching him demystify a lots about pedals and weights. Also on top of it Senri Kawaguchi breaks all the myths if there exit any haha :D
Hi could you give a list of your hardware and equipment? Awesome video as always (:
Are you talking about my drumming gear or all my youtube gear? Thanks buddy, and also for staying a subscriber for many years :D
@@ArtOfDrummingHQ drumming gear! I specifically wanted to know what pedals you’re using 😂
Ohhh I use the Pearl demon drives with Ahead switch kick pedals! What other equipment would you Like to know?
@@ArtOfDrummingHQ Just the pedals haha how's the direct drive compared to chain drive?
It's definitely different from the chain drive, once you get it going, the direct drives are better at maintaining the momentum. But I play on a dw5000 in a studio I teach at on acoustic drums. So I don't really feel the difference as much because I'm used to playing both types of pedals. I suspect it's what you want to get used to and dedicate to if you want to play really fast :D
If someone ever thinks they’re a good drummer just tell them to watch Matt Halpern play drums
Haha chances are they'll still think they're a good drummer if they don't understand what really makes Matt Halpern good. Worth a try though!
Annnd no punchy or finesse ...still appreciate the helpern respect
