The old Spotted Dog Stadium next to the pub was built in 1878 is the oldest stadium in London and is still there now owned by Clapton Community Football Club fans. Would be great if you do a video about it

Hi Paolo. Now I didn't know that!! Or that it was still up & running "Thanks for this info mate" 👍 I'll add it to my list = & get in touch! That'd make a great permission visit!! Thanks again 😊✌️

I'm a CCFC member. We bought the freehold from Heineken so I assume it was part of the land that belonged to the pub at some time and were the sporting grounds mentioned in the video. Would be great to have a functioning pub near the ground as it's a bit of a pub desert around there now.

At 6:25, the building you referred to as the "big building that was derelict for some time" was the Doctor's surgery of My Doctor, Dr Tompkins, in the 1970's. My Nan lived in the house immediately to its right (number 15 Terrace road)

Hi Ian. Cheers for the information mate "as it all helps me, to build a mental image of how the area was pre 80s." Some great old memories of late 80s & 90s London 😊👍✌️

    So many memories Luke!
I went to Park Primary, halfway down Ham Park Road and the journey from the Black Lion to the Dog was well travelled by me in the mid/late’70’s. My first serious boyfriend lived in Queens Road West and we first met at the Dog. We loved to sit outside the ‘old bar’, on the left of the building and obviously the oldest part. It had a large flagstone floor, white plaster walls and two high backed settles, with an old fashioned bar on the back wall. Shallow steps took you up to the rest of the pub and the carvery where I first had prawn cocktail! You would have loved it.
To see what it’s been reduced to breaks my heart. Given that it’s listed, it’s a scandal that nothing has been done to preserve it.
I haven’t been home since 2016 and the video you did of All Saints, West Ham and this one has been as good as a visit, albeit a wistful one to see so many changes. The Hammers bus top parade nearly did for me! Both have been shared with my brother in Australia and he feels the same.
A request. If you ever find yourself in Prince Regent’s Lane, a quick look at my old school Plaistow Grammar would really be appreciated. The last time I saw it, it had been turned into a tertiary college but hadn’t changed too much and I forget what it was called.
Thanks so much for your hard work with all the videos you do, especially given recent events. I hope Linda is much better and you’re taking care of yourself.😊

Hi Sharon. Hope you're well? I'm really sorry for the late reply = had a lot going on recently "my dad ended up in hospital = then next-door neighbour had a house fire." I managed to put it out = but breathed in a load of crap & ended up with a chest infection. Feeling much better now though! Didn't want you to think, I was being rude & not answering your comment!! Bless you & thanks for the lovely comment + sharing your great memories 😊 = The Dog was such a beautiful old pub "I only went, 2 or 3 times with my Granddad" = But, absolutely loved the place!! I vaguely remembered the small old bar & "your comment has really brought back & evoked the memory" 😊 A place "where you could feel the history, seeping out of the walls." Glad you enjoyed the wanders down memory lane = Yeah, they do make you feel "a bit wistful/nostalgic = when you think back to how things were, when we were younger." Sad & surprising, how much the area has changed = & "its not all that long ago, we're speaking about" is it 🤔 = I'm no fan of change tbh!! No problem at all, Sharon = I'm always happy to do request filmings "as it let's me know, what the viewers are interested in + always nice to have a wander down memory lane, ay." Its called New Vic College now "was tarted up & extended, a few years ago." I'll get that covered for you soon! Take care & best wishes, Sharon 😊✌️

Great old pubs, both are/weren't they "love the black lion." Such a shame about the spotted dog = A lovely old building like that "with such an interesting history" deserves better. Plaistow, has changed major, over the last 10 years "some parts are now unrecognisable." Glad the video, evoked some fond memories, Stephen 👍✌️

You missed out the Given Wilson building site on the left just after the hill. Now gone, I used to go to scouts there. Your walk from the Abbey Arms to the Black Lion then this to the Spotted Dog I used to do that a lot in the 1960s walking from SWHT school to Salisbury Rd - or a bus 278.
The plant nursery in West Ham park was for growing plants for the City of London who run the park, not the local council. Big shame about the Spotted Dog, it’s a disgrace the local council have let it happen. I had my 21st birthday party in there 1971.

Hi Phil. Hope you're well. I'd forgotten about the Wilson building tbh "Vaguely remember it, from my boyhood." Ah, rite, you'll remember the old area well then. Thanks for that info "I thought that, they only supplied the local borough." Yes it bloody is, such a lovely & historic building "deserves much better." 👍✌️
