- It took less than five minutes to get our first shark of the day and before we knew if we had a triple hookup. It's just Tony (Rickys in Las Vegas) surf fishing sharks in this episode of The Salty Twins. Tony meets up with Jeremy, who is guide for beach fishing South Carolina, to specifically target these fall sharks. I lived in Charleston in the late 80s and Shark fished every week, the Isle of Palm Peir was my Favorite at High Tide until 89 when Hurricane Hugo removed it. But Charleston is a fishing dream.

What pound braid are you using?
I believe the braid we were using was 60lb test line
Where can I shark fish legally in south carolina. Don't specifically want your spots just know it's been banned most places am moving there nxt March where I live in texas we can shark fish almost anywhere. I unknowingly shark fished tybee island last summer 22 not realizing I was breaking the law wasn't caught but want to be legal

Promote building artificial fish habitats (reefs) directly under coastal public fishing piers. It's the missing element.

We have not so far. We may do one in the future if we have enough people to feed. It’s quite a bit of meat
What are you using as bait?
Great question. We use fresh cut mullet. Another great bait is stingray

Great question. We use Penn SpinFisher and Penn Battles

I’ve gone to Folly Beach the past two days, this looks like Folly, super awesome beach.
It's not Folly. If you really knew the area you would easily know where this is. So many clues / landmarks in the video.

Easily identifiable as Sullivan's. Look at the Morris Island Lighthouse far out. Also, you get a glimpse of the Ravenel Bridge in a part of the video.

Can someone please explain to me how this is helpful for conservation? To catch and release shark? Or is this purely for sport?
Sport- not necessarily beneficial but also not really detrimental because the sharks live (and get a little meal)

Fresh mullet is going to be your best bait

Great question. Some places yes others places no. You would have to check the regulations in your area
What bait is recommended for surf fishing?
Great question. It would depend on a handful of factors; location, type of fish, etc. In South Carolina you can’t go wrong with cut mullet. Hope this helps 👍🏼
