Will Helterbrand yeah, I couldn't get it right in my previous car, it was either my legs were in good position but I couldn't reach the steering wheel or I could reach the steering wheel but the pedals were closer than I would like them to be. As you might imagine I felt like sitting on a wooden chair rather than in a car seat and it killed the feel of the car.
Spartan Descendant mk6 Golf GTI. I'm 185cm/6'1 longer legs shorter torso kinda guy, bad seating position literally made me so upset that I sold the car and I don't miss it.
@@arekb5951 I always wanted a golf. I ended up purchasing the VW CC. Kind of had some buyer's remorse. You just made me feel a little better. They seats are crazy good in the CC. Cheers bro.
Love ya chris, dont listen to hate, as some one whos modified cars for fun i understand what this channel is and love watching you fail, learn and succeed. Im sure many would agree.
I love the content, I just wish that the sponsors that he chose would be more related to his content. I know he is sponsored by konig, but I think that he should stop advertising mobile games and speakers.
Great job. Looking forward to the rest! Just a note though - try to keep the dog out of the bay when you’re welding. They will stare right at the arc without even a safety-squint.
Great progress and it’s great you didn’t have to much pride to go back and do something again, best build on RUclips!! Keep up up the awesome work. You and eric are in the progress of making an iconic car for your Chanel
Brian Ferreira I love this build and I’m really excited for it because it combines two of my favorite cars, but you should check out the Street Bandito 240. I think these two cars are probably the coolest builds happening on RUclips right now (B Is For Build and Street Banditos), but their car is almost finished and it might be the coolest project I’ve ever seen, especially if you’re into body stuff. Not knocking this project in any way. It’s Chris’ most ambitious to date and I love watching the process. Just pointing out another really cool 240.
Keep up the bad ass work man! Looks great! And your bandsaw isn't broke. Most likely you bent the blade. Happens alot on mine. Only 15$ for a new one. Also adjust the wheels.
You 110% just set yourself up for success! I know it was probably a pain to go back and redo it but EVERYTHING is going to be easier now! No more worrying about every single inch. Keep up the good work Chris!!
I don't know why but watching Eric welding scratches a particular itch in my brain... he an artists this guy... it's like super methodical, I understand why you brought him on! great addition to your team. keep up the good work, can't wait to see this completed!
That was a perfect example of what I like most about your channel. Just watching things get built and thinking to myself "Hey self...with some practice you can do that too!".
I just wanna take a moment and say Chris your awesome and always a special treat to see you and your work, but Eric? You my friend are the true MVP of this project. Working a 9-5 and then doing this for a buddy? Great job laying dimes and doing it awesomely keep up the work, and we all love ya for it! Give Eric some love ya'all!! And give some love for Chris as well of course.
Nice to see someone that takes the negativity of the comment section as motivation (I wasn't expecting an episode today)! Eric must be a hell of a friend!
I had that same band saw for years. Getting it to cut straight is an art, but you start by adjusting the two pinch rollers on each arm to 1 thou larger than the blade thickness, then use a small engineer's square on the vice bead to get the blade vertical.
So glad you are working through all the little isdues of sticking a HUGE engine in a small car. So exited to see how this one turns out. You need to get yourself and thus car to a track day.
Your fab skills have come so far from your early builds. I showed up when you started the Lotus, but have enjoyed watching since. Excited to see this one come alive. Cheers.
I like the way you edited this video. Lots of just flat out getting stuff done and when there are breaks you don't spend too much time trying to justify what you're doing and getting straight to the point. Last video you said that the comment section had a lot of toxicity in it but this video made me feel like when you first started, you have an idea of what you're doing and if you don't you'll figure it out, just know there are those of us who enjoy just watching you do work instead of trying to tell you what you're doing wrong (which isn't neccessarily a bad thing but there has been too much of it recently). Keep up the awesome videos, I can't wait for this car to get done.
I enjoyed the change of format. Wouldn't want that for every episode but it was nice to know that you are willing to change it up a bit to get back on schedule.
Those new frame rails look so beefy! So glad you got this fixed and have plenty of leg room! I can't wait to see this thing rip! Keep up the hard work!
Dude great job. I have to say I’ve watched from the beginning and it’s always good to see you work through the hurdles and come up with a solution. No one is perfect, we have an idea and go for it and sometimes we have to learn along the way, there’s no shame in that, been there. Keep on, keeping on
Congrats!!!! I understand why you wouldn't want to narrate this episode; however, the work you and Eric did is incredible! Silly TV shows would describe a task like this as the most professional and difficult task in the world. But, seriously, you solved a difficult problem in a very elegant and professional way. Eric deserves more than a few cases of beer. And a few cases of beer for you for thinking up this solution. You almost make it look like you know what you are doing. :)
Only critique I would add is at the top and bottom 45 degree angles you have matching angles on the two frame pieces. I would add gussets or plates that bridge the welds. The welds are your most likely failure point. Great job solving the problem and good progress.
Great job Chris......i start on all my metal work in a month or so on my Datsun build. Way to keep positive (hard to do sometimes), glad the solution worked out!!!
I'm glad you were able to fix that problem. It will make it way more comfortable to drive. On an unrelated note, I'm also really glad the usual intro isn't on the video. It's not bad, it's just too long and doesn't add anything to the content. I think it flows better without and I hope you keep it without the intro or with a much more condensed one.
I am so fucking hyped for this build, I was worried you wouldn't want to cut the framerail in order to add more leg room, but you fucking did it my dude.
Btw Chris I was thinking about what you said in the last video, that you want less talking and more timelapse/actual work footage. But I think you underestimate that your explanations and the goals you set yourself is why we are lovin your videos so much. Anybody can do timelapse but to explain shit that you yourself just learned that is entertainment Thumps up from Germany
Chris look at the video at the 9:00 mark you can see the rear shock tower moving. Even With the temporary support. I don't think it would have that much of an effect since you have adjustment for alignment. I just was pointing it out!
I gotta say I've been B-is-for-biting-my-toug watching this build go together. It just seemed like a lot of B-is-bad-luck and B-is-for-blunders along the way. But I didn't complain or add to the peanut gallery. The frame is is looking real strong and neat and tidy now. What an improvement! B-is-for-BELIEVE in Chris. Glad to see this thing coming together. Don't listen to the trolls. Your are the B-is-for-BOSS!
There just might be a chance you can pull this off! Keep it up. I'm glad you have some help from Eric. He's got some great skills. I bet he's dying for a sturdy Fab table though!
Missed your enthusiasm a little today, but seeing the amount progress you make when you just focus on the work is pretty impressive and pretty refreshing actually. Maybe you should consider/test the idea of narating your videos! Keep up the amazing work, hope I can view the car in person some day and maybe buy you a beer.
One thing we used to do on kickups ike that was use a slightly wider piece of steel and cut it so the ends fit OVER the existing rail. This game us double thickness on the vertical walls. A holesaw cutout on the new piece let us weld inside the circle and it was incredibly strong and very stiff. Only the vertical walls really transfer weight and/or force anyways. Still looks really good though.
Great content as usual Chris! Lovely friend you have, so big shout out to Eric as well. Im stoked over this build. I love your sprit, so... Keep it going!!!
Getting the roll cage connected fore/aft of that set of hard 90s in the frame rail will help with the fact that it's a hard 90 (stress riser). The double up was probably overkill, but not a bad plan for adding strength. Still need more for torsion though; something low in the frame (however you can get it around the transmission/driveshaft) would do a lot for that; the cage can only do so much when you consider the length between the frame and horizontal points on the cage.
Yeeeeees! That looks so much better! I don't comment often but gotta give ya props! Especially in light of the last video... people can be so mean. But its encouraging to see you guys keep on going and doing amazing! Keep up the great work buddy!
Straight working and less chatting on this episode. Love the revision my dude! I know this thing is going to ride a lot better with the amount of leg room you have now.
I know it’s cheesy but this build reminds me of this poem by Edgar Albert Guest. Keep up the good work Chris, you’re doing it. I spent most of the night after the last video trying to figure out how you were going to get more leg room. Glad you figured it out. #bisforbrainstorming
Good thing you got this figured out, bad seat position can mess up the whole experience, even if the car is top notch 👍
this is a FACT! I have to get my seat position just exactly right or else it will drive me NUTS!
Will Helterbrand yeah, I couldn't get it right in my previous car, it was either my legs were in good position but I couldn't reach the steering wheel or I could reach the steering wheel but the pedals were closer than I would like them to be. Yep. Fail, learn and succeed 'cos if it was easy anybody could do it.
Best content format. Tone of work done in a short video.
Great job. Looking forward to the rest!

That was a perfect example of what I like most about your channel. Just watching things get built and thinking to myself "Hey self...with some practice you can do that too!".
Thanks for taking the time to fix this, just goes to show people that stuff pops up, and you have to work around it. Much love from Houston

Always better the second time around. Good job, Chris and Eric. Now, to get started on the firewall and floor panels.
Just wanted to say Chris: Your choice of music with these videos makes me happy.
After seeing 240Z in real life how small it is. Im even more shocked, anxious about this build. Good luck finishing it. Mad respect

I like seeing the 240z on the frame... feels like you are getting so much closer to the finish like that!
Awesome work, Eric's welds are outstanding! Best of all, you worked out you had a problem and you fixed it, just like that. Well done.
Awesome job, just getting to see the progress you’ve made along with all the obstacles you’ve overcome is tremendous. Keep up the great work
This is, by far, my favourite channel right now.
Love the creativity work and the insane solutions you come up with.

I know it’s cheesy but this build reminds me of this poem by Edgar Albert Guest. Keep up the good work Chris, you’re doing it.
Somebody said that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!
Somebody scoffed: “Oh, you’ll never do that;
At least no one ever has done it;”
But he took off his coat and he took off his hat
And the first thing we knew he’d begun it.
With a lift of his chin and a bit of a grin,
Without any doubting or quiddit,
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it.
There are thousands to tell you it cannot be done,
There are thousands to prophesy failure,
There are thousands to point out to you one by one,
The dangers that wait to assail you.
But just buckle in with a bit of a grin,
Just take off your coat and go to it;
Just start in to sing as you tackle the thing
That “cannot be done,” and you’ll do it.
I'm glad you took my advice. Should work fine...
Love the pupper just hanging out watching the metal fab
