Hey, I don’t usually listen to podcasts, but especially since the Path of Exile 2 reveal trailer, I cant hold myself and am watching almost every video about it. I just paused the video at minute 35 to like it and say that every point you made matches my own feelings. The podcast feels like a great movie. I could never convince my siblings to play Path of Exile 1 because it was too complex-the build dependency, Path of Building, and the loot filter were just too much. But now, i managed to hype my brothers for POE 2. My brothers don’t want to be spoiled, but I’ll definitely recommend this podcast to them. I hope POE 2 does what Baldur's Gate 3 did but just for the ARPG genre. Thanks for the great podcast!
@@off-meta-michaelDude, you’re awesome! I’m thoroughly impressed by your takes on this podcast. You should stream your play through when poe2 releases.
You've had the beta this whole time! Truly never would have guessed - well done. Just want to say I love your approach to and understanding of what makes D2 amazing and just your attitude to gaming in general seems like it comes out of another time. I think what you're picking up in PoE2 is that D2 still takes up a massive part of the hearts of the PoE leadership teams. Despite this, I don't think they were really able to catch that D2 magic in PoE exactly as they would have liked - I think this is truly their Diablo 2 and it's going to be the D3 people have been waiting almost 25 years for.
Michael is such a nice dude. What a refreshing talk that was. Fanboying about poe2 without the poe1 comparison all the time. It came across like you guys know each other for quite a while. Very nice dynamic between you two. :)
I was one of the first alhpa testers for PoE back in the day. Loved a lot of the game's concepts but could not stomcah the graphics. Played for a couple of weeks, left a hefty amount of feedback for the devs but then I left the game behind. Was watching its evolutions throughout the years with great interest. Tried to return a couple of times but, boy oh boy, it's impossible to return to PoE once you've lost the trail... So happy to see the masterpiece PoE2 has turned into. I'm going to stick around this time.
We, D2 OG's love PoE. T: Signed. 24 years of D2 player/ Veteran! D2 Classic was released exactly on my Birthday, and I went to buy it with my dad. Turned 16 that day! Now I'm 40 years old fart and still going strong 😂 Can't wait for PoE II . The release presentation gave me instantly D2 vibes for various reasons, and I just know it. This game will be talked for a very long time!
37 years old guy with a pretty common story that started playing ARPG with old stuff even before D1, but D1 and D2 were mindblowing. What a the piece of Art in sound, ambiance, effect and story. Damn 90s what a golden age in video games (like now). Played D3 alot but wasnt too happy backthen still I played many hours on it. D4 I was so hyped and like a bad cake the taste felt mid tier with the lost of consistancy, pacing and depth. I saw the shift in the target audience already for D3 but with the online aspect it was tremendous. Poe 1 like many people became a thing many years after, like an relationship you keep on growing with, you come and go back and forth. With great times and great souvenirs but still Diablo was the master of stories ambiance and that part in any game is so important to me I felt no competition was able to live up to the feeling of once D2 was (like Dungeon Keeper or Baldur's Gate in their own genre). But men, this PoE 2 sequal as something that reminds me so much of D2 vibes. Dark, cold blood violence, this color palet, the animation that looks like fast like exactly D2 was and still with a slower pace with heavyness that look and feels just so much enjoyable. D4 was something they'v marketed as a return of the old days, but it was kind of a gimmick. Even tho this D4 still has this technical and graphical touch that shows up its AAA game, after more than a year now, I wasnt expecting PoE2 to be able to not only live up to blizzard quality standards but also to overcome and even surpasse it. I truly hope GGG has the budget to market the game way more and make that PoE 2 more than successfull in the minds of the developpers. I cant wait to play that game and go back to this feeling of playing in the couch with friends that in this modern age I feel we lost. I will play on PC mainly but damn ARPG is so fucking back !!!
The game is literally shut up and take my money Everything I was giving feedback for Poe 1 for years has been added to Poe 2 and more than can imagine Unbelievable
In the context of biome related drops, the reveal stream also referenced finding towns with different types of people where you can find different items. I think they're greatly developing the exploration feel of Delve, so we'll be hunting the infinite proc gen atlas world looking for cool points of interest, not just nodes with particular end game content like Breach, but also unique maps, and towns, and probably lots of other types we haven't seen, that might have things we're particularly interested in.
forbidden flame/flesh being a runeword would make a lot of sense. we even might get a vaal "runeword" that requires 3, and have like condition - first half of effect - 2nd half of effect. like "[when you take a savage hit] [you regenerate 10% of your hp over 1s], [and cast ice nova]" (maybe with the 2nd one only requiring the first one, and the 3rd requiring the 1st and 2nd.)
58:10 About the pathfinder flasks, they are not only supportable with support gems, but they can scale with your flask which a really easy scalar. To this day poison flask can slap early and stay strong for quite a long time because of this. It also seems to guarantee the ailment which might matter for some quick and easy interactions.
> 1:40:00 "the players who're gonna get destroyed are the degenerate lightning arrow/tornado shot" according to the Q&A, monks are the ones dying the most, but interestingly, they're also the ones people enjoy the most.
Big fan of yours Tri and I didn't even play PoE1 either lol your response to the feedback from your last big johnny rogers was very endearing. You could tell you care and remember, even if you say uhuh a million times during the next Rogers interview, we're all still ur fan
Poe1 have Inquisitor, hierophant, Guardian as far as I know they will come later as well if u I understand it correctly and we will most likely get something along those lines.
The performance thing might've been touched on already, but I'd like to point out that there are no apparent frame drops in the actual video on PoE's official YT channel. I also got the same vibe that it was janky, but it was just the stream. The official upload is smooth AF. It's definitely running on top high-end specs for the presentation, but still smooth, which was kinda misleading in the actual livestream. Here hoping it runs great on mid setups at least.
1:51:51 - to add more to this, I also like that vaal orbs can now reroll up to 3 modifiers. So as Mark said during the Q&A, you can make a "mid" tier item potentially good, so rare items wtith 2-3 good modifiers will have some potential for vaaling too.
Completely agree with Micheal about the campaign, Blizzard really lost me when they lost all of the character that they once had. In D4 we have a silent protagonist which really ruined the experience of the game for me compared to how D3 was and how PoE 2 is presented. Once I watched the witch trailer I was sold once she started saying things about the bosses and areas she was in. Anyway thanks for coming to my Ted Talk
Hmm, do you think splitting the vid into 2 would be better since they are basically 2 podcasts glued together? Something to think about, because on the other hand people usually don't like "spam" in their feed from the same creator, I dunno
Cool to see people with different experiences with ARPGs look excited for POE2. As someone in my mid 40s I have been gaming s8nce the early 80s. I played the heck out of Diablo 1, 2 and even 3, much less time on D4. I've got hundreds of hours in Grim Dawn, Last Epoch, POE 1. Played the Torchlight series. I'm likely forgetting lots of other games. But POE 2 looks like a game designed exactly for an ARPG gamer like me. It looks like the next generation of ARPGs and I'll likely never play one of those older games again.
@@pascall166 I bought new winter-tires (still unused). My old ones are probably good enough for another year. So kinda trading winter-tires for PoE supporter pack haha.
@Tri The Atlas map being to bright/colorful was something I thought as well. I like the campaign map style much more. Also some of the Atlas map tiles weren't finished and you could see hard edges between them in the GGG live stream footage. So I think it is still work in progress. Maybe you can ask Jonathan about the Atlas map style in your upcoming interview?
Any plans to upload these to Spotify / an audio platform? RUclips ads every 6 minutes are annoying 😅 Great chats, thanks for filling the void as we wait for Dec 6!
stuff that we haven't really seen for poe 2 that I liked in lost ark was the boss dungeons, think like grand daddy crab in act 1 of poe 1 hitting you along the way, but on steroids, like kitava breaking buildings over your head in the feeding trough. the lab and stretching it, the atziri map with the mid bosses in poe 1 are the only things I can think of that are near it. I guess ultimatum and sanctum might be similar, but don't really hit the same vibe. basically I want to fight through a boss to get to the mcguffin and be able to threaten it. or how cool would it be to have a boss that is protected by 4 generals like vinktar, shaper or olmec's sanctum, and you could go straight to the boss, but then you have to fight all of them at once, or you can go to all 4 corners and fight the individual guardians.
38:10 they have already said that they get tonplay around with immunities more again now that we are encouraged to have a weapon swap with a different ele type. Ele immunes are already confirmed guys, get used to it. (Although i believe their wording was something like "we'll be able to play around a bit more with immunities", this could also just mean super resistances, like reducing cold damage by 95% after mitigation, rather than completely bricking some elements.
I tried PoE about 5 years ago didn't like it. The flask system was aweful. I don't think flask should play any part in builds and should only be the typical health/mana you need while leveling. Then once your build is off the ground they become basically obsolete and emergency buttons. It's far better to focus on gameplay, mechanics, WASD movement, dodge/block then trying to piano mandatory flask in. PoE 2 also fixing the terrible skill gem system in the original game and stream lining it is a HUUUGE win. Then with the new passives tree we can respec easily and actually try and theory craft. I can't wait for PoE2!
When the Delayed POE 2 for 3 weeks cause of MTX i knew we wore getting some kind of surprise, i was think maybe just 1 more act. im so glad we got so so so much more.

Great video, and I keep getting reminded of why I'll have to go AWOL from youtube etc on the 6th. Imagine killing your first poe pinnacle bosses, and now imagine doing it with zero community information! ;)
Seriously that's my plan too. Don't give me "5 best builds", don't spoil the mechanics or "fastest way through the campaign". Learning how crazy Poe's campaign was when you entered the basement full of blood and piles of dead bodies everywhere was actually great.
@@brettzeigerbacher2314 True. I need to protect my mind from any opinions regarding classes also, there are too many people willing to propagate viability judgements and small comments that will linger in the mind and poison my creativity .p
My fiend Brought me D3 so i had to play it with him. and it took me a while to pull the trigger and play POE cause i had other games and stuff going on but fell in love with POE
26:35 poe veteran? He just said he could get 2 power charges from one corpse with spell echo... Unless the skill doesnt consume the corpse (in which case it needs balance), the repeat would be useless with spell echo. Of course if theres any other corpses around i think it would automatically target a second corpse, but thats not what he said. Just want to make sure michael doesnt make any big mistakes planning, thought it was funny that chat started calling him a vet at the same time as the first time he says something wrong. So glad to have another creator in the community, and i hope you love poe 2 so much that it even makes you want to try poe 1 again.
I expect builds to have a lot of variety even within the same build, just because of differences in skill level - as beginners are better off tossing any complicated mechanics even if they would be theoretically better. Also because certain utilities may mean nothing to some players and be very good for other players. Elemental monk in particular is likely to become like this. As it may not even be quarterstaffs.
got same feeling from the atlas look too, will it make me upset playing the game? nah, but could be so much better if it was grittier :) still awesome shit mechanic wise, i hope it's also explained lore-wise why it's ever expanding, coz with original map device and atlas you kinda get carte-blanche it being alternate dimensions and all, but what about here? In any case exciting stuff
i remember like 5 years ago when i was complaining about WASD and flasks. So many people were against what i said, but now we are here. I think people majority of the time just dont like change even though its for the better.
I never played POE1 and I am so hyped for POE2. Played all Diablos, I hope POE2 will deliver. Even though I never played POE1, I love all the changes they made and the direction they took with combat. I want a game somewhere between Elden Ring and brainless ARPG that's just clicking on mobs. I dont think POE2 will be perfect for me in this regard (I guess I'd prefer a bit harder combat) but the whole package looks amazing. I don't enjoy soulslikes that much because they twisted the idea of challenge and they are usually very boring with how you can develop your character.
Yeah agreed the flasks looked lame in the showcase, I suppose we can hope that you can juice them with gems and turn them into a way to max out dots on bosses immediately or something.
The low point for me was when I found out there is no Mac OS X support for early access. I went from being super hyped to not wanting to buy access. Now I’m just meh. It makes we wonder how many other major ball drops there will be.
Couldn't agree more about Ranger. My favorite class now but the most disappointing reveal in the showcase. Essentially the same ascendancies as now...still gonna play it though.
53:20 For me it was the "gamification" of the Wraeclast continent. Seems like it's gonna expand infinitely so it has no defined shape anymore with no set landmarks like mountain ranges, rivers, lakes etc. and the biomes are mixed together in an illogical mess. If Atlas was still about lovecraftian dreamlands then I would have 0 problems with that approach. Bah, I would even agree on the vibrant colour palette choice coz imo such place should feel a bit whimsical and pretty to look at but yeah... I just hate how PoEII builds immersion through cool cinematics, interesting lore and beautifully crafted environments and than immediately breaks that immersion with the first glance at the world map that looks like something straight from 4X game.
"they finally made a game for D2 players" wtf is he on about? Path of exile is already the PERFECT game for D2 players O_O i remember when i first tried it out in 2011 closed beta it was sooooooooooooo good, was hooked forever. And now, 13 years later and over 10k hours played, i STILL FUCKING LOVE THE GAME! And PoE2 will consolidate that love even more
I subscribed to off meta his takes are the same as mine I love action games ninja gaiden 2 still has the best combat in gaming to me still. I love difficulty it seems so boring doing the same thing over and over and jsut sweeping the map it’s why I never beat any arpg I’ve played so far as they get repetitive and boring poe2 looks way more up my alley than any so far.
Thought Diablo 4 would be better, but POE2 just erased it from existence for me. Have less than 10hrs in POE1 but damn are things looking JUICY for POE2
Now might be a good time to jump into poe1 and play some leading up to the beta release because a lot of systems and ideas cross over. Maybe check out ruthless mode. Nice and slow and easy to learn rather than being bombarded with a ton of systems.
@mcgruber I appreciate the advice! But unfortunately I'm a sucker for punishment and would rather learn on the fly when Early Access releases. Been in the genre since D1 so I've been checking out other community content and soaking up info to connect the dots as I progress!
Yeah, I get what you're saying about the mosaic not needing to exist right now for you. But if you don’t like it, just don’t use it. Some people, like me, have too much anxiety to play a really slow-paced game. I want to zoom because playing slowly isn’t fun for me! The game should be slow for those who enjoy it that way, but also fast for people like me who struggle with slow gameplay.
I actually thought the same with maps. They should stick to the drawn style of the Akt worldmaps. Also I’m not sure about the die once and you loose the map thing. But this is a change which can easily be made once the game is out :)
hey @TalkativeTri no one has asked about re specking your ascendency's if u wanna change them..... do we do the same thing as before? or is it something new? might be a good question to ask
Thanks for having me on Tri! Had a great time talking to you man

@@brettzeigerbacher2314 True. I need to protect my mind from any opinions regarding classes also, there are too many people willing to propagate viability judgements and small comments that will linger in the mind and poison my creativity .p
My fiend Brought me D3 so i had to play it with him. and it took me a while to pull the trigger and play POE cause i had other games and stuff going on but fell in love with POE
watched this video twice
one at the gym
second time at home whilst playing poe
good video tri
26:35 poe veteran? He just said he could get 2 power charges from one corpse with spell echo... Unless the skill doesnt consume the corpse (in which case it needs balance), the repeat would be useless with spell echo. Of course if theres any other corpses around i think it would automatically target a second corpse, but thats not what he said.
Just want to make sure michael doesnt make any big mistakes planning, thought it was funny that chat started calling him a vet at the same time as the first time he says something wrong.
So glad to have another creator in the community, and i hope you love poe 2 so much that it even makes you want to try poe 1 again.
you missed that he said corpse conservation, which is a support that gives a chance to not consume a charge.
Michael was great!
Michael's music on spotify goes hard.
This guy's music is awesome.
I Watched all 2 hours in one sitting wow GG
Agreed on the atlas map vibe check not passing. Design and functionality look awsome just the vibrant colors need to be toned down.
Posted as i was watching the 3 most recent videos of yours, nice. I will continue my Tri marathon I guess lol
got same feeling from the atlas look too, will it make me upset playing the game? nah, but could be so much better if it was grittier :) still awesome shit mechanic wise, i hope it's also explained lore-wise why it's ever expanding, coz with original map device and atlas you kinda get carte-blanche it being alternate dimensions and all, but what about here? In any case exciting stuff
Can't wait for all these
Awesome podcast
i remember like 5 years ago when i was complaining about WASD and flasks. So many people were against what i said, but now we are here. I think people majority of the time just dont like change even though its for the better.
How many days left?
Sirus was my first pinnacle boss as well.
34:37 the visual clarity was eaily the most impressive gameplay thing in the entire reveal
Yeah even when they were showing more end game scenes it was still clear enough. But let's wait for those MTXs to show up and ruin it all 😂.
@@mcgruber In some cases there are advantages to playing with people without microtransactions
I bet you'll get as many likes on this video as Michael said the word "like" during the recording of it.
Do they have regional price for early access packs? Thanks!
Finally we may rejoice!
pretty sure the atlas is wip. They must have focused on it not long ago. I expect some shaders and texture work to make it better.
Don't blame the game for your subpar hardware. Get a proper PC.
Couldn't agree more about Ranger. My favorite class now but the most disappointing reveal in the showcase. Essentially the same ascendancies as now...still gonna play it though.
I watched the boss fight vs the count, even experienced poe1 players are going to get slapped around as if it was there first time playing dark souls.
Wild. How have none of you tried poe. Its just d2 but better in every way
I thought the Doryani stuff was the Act3. We probably use the tech, but i doubt we will "work with Doryani"
We probably meet him in act3, but he's shown in the map room as an NPC .
poggies my doggies
I literally used three weeks of vacation in December for this lol
Blizzard better start reviving d3
"they finally made a game for D2 players"
wtf is he on about? Path of exile is already the PERFECT game for D2 players O_O i remember when i first tried it out in 2011 closed beta it was sooooooooooooo good, was hooked forever. And now, 13 years later and over 10k hours played, i STILL FUCKING LOVE THE GAME! And PoE2 will consolidate that love even more
Everyone’s entitled to their own opinions. He pretty much explained why he felt that way.
What about mounts ?
"Sorry, can't tell you anything about the game - but I a HAVE to take a week off on release day!" 😂
I subscribed to off meta his takes are the same as mine I love action games ninja gaiden 2 still has the best combat in gaming to me still. I love difficulty it seems so boring doing the same thing over and over and jsut sweeping the map it’s why I never beat any arpg I’ve played so far as they get repetitive and boring poe2 looks way more up my alley than any so far.
Agreed! I was so close to beating ninja gaiden 2 sigma on master ninja back in the day before my ps3 crapped out 😂. Loved that game.
I think the atlas will have darker biomes
Jousis will find a way to make some crappy skill the strongest skill in the game.
Can we start calling games like these "PoE-likes"?
where is the lore series
54:54 its not a grimdark map
EXILE-LIKE
I play Exile-like games.
tf where's MrLlama
@@is7eelreigni trust me, ruthless mode is punishment and closer to what Poe 2 is meant to be like. It will be a good challenge for the interim
I have already bound movement in Diablo 2 to W. Very convenient. Actually, WASD no need. Last Epcoh hath it too. Only POE doth not have it , even W.
You have 6 portals. Same as poe 1.
@ no, they said in QA the portals are for using a town portal while mapping but if you die in a map it failed no matter how much portals are left
@@leederlee I'm going to have to watch it again. I thought the only ones you had one chance at were the bosses leading up to the pinnacle boss.
@@mcgruber yeah give me a heads-up if I’m maybe incorrect but I’m pretty sure it is the way I said. I hope not though 😂
Sorry tri love you bro but i csnt hand these andys...
Filthy EXILES LOG IN
FIRST!
"Tri" is "three" in Welsh and Russian :))) Gyda chariad o Rwsia i Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch :))
Diablo 4 VOH should win GOTY. POE 2 will fail.
Bots already huh?
work a bit on your bait little buddy
Expansions being eligible for GAME of the year is ridiculous.
weak bait
Blizzard paid for those spots
hey @TalkativeTri no one has asked about re specking your ascendency's if u wanna change them..... do we do the same thing as before? or is it something new? might be a good question to ask
We can do it, saw it in some gameplay. It's with gold.
@talkativeTri: i want to listen to your talks on Spotify. Please.
