- We dip way back into the HorseTV Archives to show you an event in Wyoming made over 30 years ago. Celebrating the early settlers and their arrival from the East, this wagon train replicates the settlement of the Old West. A journey back in time.
My grandfather, Doc Gardner is interviewed in this! He and his wife JoAnne, along with Doug Kafka, brought me along for the ride the summer I turned 13. Thank you so much for the memories. I miss them very much. And…I finally have my own horse! :-)
This is really special, thank you for putting it on here!
You are most welcome! We have more coming!
A family in a wagon traveling across the country for months was a pretty intense trek to accomplish back then, Americans sure were a tough breed! And by today's standards of living a life of ease, one would have to prepare and condition beforehand or else the elements alone would crush them in just a few days, and that's without the chance of Indian attacks or even the many other illnesses and injury without adequate medicinal care plaguing settlers back then!
I was there. All of it.
Very cool! Thanks for sharing.
Let's do it again.
My wife and I did the whole trip. We were the chaplains for the wagon train. On this video I’m at about the 49 50 minute mark a flag is knocked off a wagon and someone picks it up and hands it to me. I’m riding a bay with a paint and mule in tow. Wish someone would put the weeks 1-4 on also. Would do it again.
Quite an adventure! This was the only segment in the library, if someone has Weeks 1-4 and would loan it to us, we'd be happy to air it along with this segment. If you have video, let us know at Info@HorseTVToday.com
