  • Meg runs you through the differences between the main types and guages when it comes to acoustic guitar strings. If you are stuck and not too sure which one to go for then hopefully this can help you decide the right strings for you!
    Phosphor Bronze is known to be more balanced and warm sounding whilst 80/20 is known for its extra brightness and full sound. Each gauge will offer a different playability as well as tonal texture and only you will know which is the perfect choice for your style of playing.

    12-53 Elixers is all I run on my Acoustics!
    Phosphor Bronze is best, which I used to be a 80/20 guy.
    I got a set of 12-53 Elixer Nanoweb coated Phosphor Bronze Strings, along with Ebony bridge pins, and it made a HUGE difference!!

    I've been playing for 10-11 years. I've mostly focused on electric the past 3 years and when I try to get back into acoustic the strings are hard on my hand and they're only natural gauge. I ended up tuning each string down like 2 steps instead of going and buying lighter strings and I gotta say; tuning down relieved the strings of a lot of tension and feels amazing! It also gave it more of an open tuning sound. But I'm gonna pick up super light strings for the relief in the tension. I don't need to work hard to play it and be uncomfortable. I'm probably gonna get lighter strings for my electric as well. There's not much of a tone difference when it comes to string gauge.

    The undisputed truth. Pick gauge & attack should complement string gauge.

    Just keep in mind that when a guitar manufacturer sets up a guitar, they cut the nut and saddle for a specific gauge of string. Changing that gauge can sometimes cause intonation problems, tuning problems, high/low action, too much relief or a backbow, etc...

      I agree. However, going up or down one number usually doesn't change anything more than what the seasons changing also would have done.

    There's also silk strum which has more of a honky tonk folk sound to it and then there's nickel Strong which is really pretty for harmonics and sounds really retro. There's far more than two options those are just the basics 😌

    13 is not good for your guitar and 85/15 bronze is better than 80/20.most people think 80/20 bronze is brighter but it's not (my opinion) 😐

      Get a job, work for it, buy your guitar. We all did. At 17 you should have at least bought a vehicle to get you to work

      Bro, im 18 n when i got my first electric guitar (at 17, but i had an acoustic one before) i couldnt afford a good guitar either. You just got to search for the cheapest one you could find n it will do fine to use It for learning. Then some time later you can watch for something better

    • @Remolachaa_
      @Remolachaa_ 7 месяцев назад

      Even the cheapest ones work really fine, i got both my guitar and amplifier (5W its enough for a room guitarist) for just 100 dolars. You just gotta know where to search
