  • The North East Maritime Trust are starting a new project making some boats for the Sea Cadets. We've donated a few hundred quid's worth of Epoxy Resin and Marine & Industrial are also helping out with £500 worth of materials.
The NEMT is a brilliant organization dedicated to preserving the maritime heritage of the North East of England. Founded with a mission to restore, maintain, and operate a collection of traditional vessels that are indigenous to the region, NEMT plays a crucial role in keeping the area's maritime history alive. The trust focuses on a variety of vessels, including fishing boats, workboats, and other craft that have historical significance to the North East's coastal communities.
One of the key activities of the North East Maritime Trust is the restoration of traditional wooden boats, a task undertaken by skilled craftsmen and volunteers who are passionate about maritime preservation. These efforts ensure that the craftsmanship and techniques used in the original construction of these vessels are not lost to time. Additionally, NEMT engages the public through educational programs, workshops, and opportunities to sail on these historic boats, thus fostering a deeper appreciation for the region's maritime heritage. Through its work, the trust not only preserves important aspects of local history but also contributes to the cultural and educational landscape of the North East of England.
We last made a short video about the NEMT in 2011, and as we're helping out with some Epoxy Resin, we thought we'd pop in with a camera and see what they're up to in 2024.
