I think this fluff is what Mayurama had in mind with the actual story arc but due to his constraints about rushing to just finish overlord, he cut some arcs that could serve as a buildup for thIs visit like what you mentioned being Nfriea's(potion boy) discovery of the potion.
Did the author ever state why he decided on so greatly shortening the series? I mean 12 volumes is a rather apocalyptic amount to cut a series down by... I mean give us 25 at least that's still 5 volumes less but its reasonable for pacing. I expect health reasons but even then it seems less likely to me its that and not out of spite. I say that because of the rumor he was boycotting S4 until Tanya the evil got approved for more stuff. Please correct my opinion, if you know better.
For what I remember it was so funny that the elf king kept using high spells while Ainz kepting spamming wall of skeletons to defend each attack. Ainz kept making the elf king waste mana while he barely used any.
But he didn't go after him because he said he was low on mana. So maybe he was approaching half and for him that's too low. That's the only reason Zesshi caught up to her father
I saw someone pointed this out way back when volume 14 came out, but I have to agree, and from what I hear, this volume supports it even further: When Ainz says "I've lost interest" after Zanec's death, it definitely felt a lot more like the author's words than Ainz's words.
i think this is the second time ainz has ever been serisously mad, if we can take albedo's words as fact. I think the theocracy is gonna get the absolute worst invasion ever
He got pretty mad when prince Zanac got offed by his own people. A more controlled anger and admittedly didn't go as ballistic as he did with the workers or Zesshi.
No joke. There's a reason why he said 'In Nazarick Death is a mercy that spares you from suffering.' I have a feeling Ainz is not only gonna raize the country to the ground, but also keep everyone alive while suffering for an eternity for what they did to Shalltear.
So I think that this part went unrecognized, so in vol 16 when Aniz asked Aura hypothetically if Albedo betrayed them could she take over nazarick, Now towards the end When Ainz summoned Albedo, she came in all apologetic and Aura found that strange. Aniz unintentional made Aura suspect Albedo and this could lead to her plan being uncovered.
Nazarick wins and conquers every piece of land and sea OR they implode because only nazarick can defeat nazarick😂 see you at the ending. As of reading 15 and 16. i'll be only reading the last chapter of the last volume just to see the end result.
Honestly I really loved how Marre played it Smart when fighting Zesshi He didn't reveal his Destructive capabilities until the end He utilised the Scrolls to make Zesshi think that he can only Cast self buffs and made her believe that she's fighting a melee fighter who had some self buffs He made sure that he wasn't cornered so he could ecape or use his capabilities as a disciple of Disaster and he saved up lots of Mana He also made her warry of the Gollum that he summoned with the Scroll Making her wonder if it could get stronger While marre didn't pull a 4d chess PvP move He was genuinely capable and smart I loved it Also this has nothing to do with the video or volume 16 But I think I finally understand why People Dislike PDL as an individual He claims that the atrocities that Ainz and Other players like the eight greed kings did are Disgusting and horrible but he never did anything to stop other Nations from committing warcrimes on eachother PDL was more than Capable of Stopping the Theocracy's slaughter of Innocent demihumans And the Baharuth empire's annual war with Re-estize Which would've eventually caused many innocents in the Re-estize kingdom to starve to death He also didn't try to stop the Demihuman alliance from Slaughtering the People of the Draconic kingdom, nor did he try to defend the Roble holy Kingdom from Jaldabaoth's evil For someone who claims that he is "Protector of this world" He isn't protecting Alot Tho it's more than possible that he fears that his power and influence might eventually turn into a greedy tyrant He probably should've tried to do better
@@randalthevandal4170 I can see that being true, after all he let both Aura and Mare sit on his lap as one would do to their children, also Albedo Sidenote: Isn't Zeshi/Antilene kinda dumb thinking Mare is undead? After all he used the 6th tier spell [Heal] She should have known that healing spells hurt the undead
Why do people think that PDL has to be the godkeeper of every country? He doesn’t specifically hate players, just those that misuse their power for evil. The 6 great gods made a deal with the dragon lords, the 8 greed kings waged war on them, the only time he intervened with a players actions was when they were malicious. He even helped the 13 heroes fight the demon gods and befriended the leader of the 13 heroes, who was a player. His actions show the he more so keeps the world in balance, rather than exerts his own will over everyone else
I agree with this perspective and criticisms of the state of Overlord. Maruyama built a larger world than he could fill. While I'll still praise his work he unfortunately falls into the very filled group of writers who had large ambitions but lost their drive to achieve them.
Plus the fact that during the fight Maire was actually surprised when Zan used both Ainz and Shalteir's techniques. The Elf King was super short, not much of the boogy man that they made him out to be.
Yeah unfortunately from what I've read the author stated he wanted to do 35-40 volumes, but he's been working on over lord for over 10+ years and now he wants to work on something new... it sucks cause he did so much world building in the beginning just to throw it all away just to rush the ending... it's sad cause overlord is amazing and could be the next berserk imo but unfortunately the author dsnt see the value in his work anymore with is quite sad...
Take Mushoku Tensei for example. The novel started at relatively the same time as Overlord but it wasn't rushed, nothing was wasted and it turned out great. So much wasted potential but Overlord is still a good novel regardless.
Volume 15 and 16 had none of the style of the previous 4 volumes as it honestly felt like I was reading someone’s fan fiction of the elf arc. I tried to give the directionless feeling (the pharmacist part especially) the benefit of the doubt since this was supposed to be a vacation for Ainz but I still found myself skipping whole sections of both volumes until the fights with the elf king and Zeshi. The epilogue felt like the author was rushing the ending too which is exactly what he’s doing. Sucks that he’s tired of writing this otherwise fantastic story
15 was boring as hell, the Dark Elven culture was poorly developed when compared to say, the lizardmen and how their tribes and customs worked. It may well be true that the author is just burnt out and doesn't want to work on the series anymore, his passion for it has slowly been fading since volume 11 or 12. Feels like he just wants done with it cause he doesn't know what to do with the story anymore, either that or simply a lack of motivation. I suppose its for the best that its ending soon, nothing good will come from him forcing himself to write another 10 volumes.
@Ceroid The only real difference is that where OP MCs are usually heroes, or heroes insisting they're villains but still doing heroic stuff. Ainz and Nazarick are just straight up villains doing evil shit just for the lols. The weird part about Overlord though is that many of the side characters from New World actually have more personality and depth than Ainz and all of his NPCs. In some ways the story would be more intriguing if there was no Ainz and Nazarick (Or anymore players) and just followed the New World factions in a GoT type of storytelling. New World is actually a pretty well (By iseka standards) put together setting and has some pretty nice lore and history. As it is, its just Nazarick stomping, torturing, murdering and destroying their way across a helpless world unopposed. Still, I guess as power fantasies go, it is unique in the regard of it being a genuine villain MC and not some fake villain who's actually a hero MC. But that alone isn't enough anymore, something's gotta change, but since the author is losing motivation, there will be no change (Unless some big twist is on the horizon).
@Ceroid Being OP doesnt mean it dooms you. Look at Slime. It satyed good even when the Slime turned ridiculous. What made Overlord so good is that other characters POV made it interesting despite having main cast so OP. Volume 15 is so bad because instead of getting other characters POV we are stuck in Ainz POV most of the time and it made it very bland. Besides nothing really happened and the book was just stuffed with needless words. Its easily the worst book in overlord series. Volume 16 was helped by a good last chapter but over all it doesnt fare much better than volume 15.
@Ceroid Weird as it sounds, my favorite Overlord volume is the side story where Momonga lands in New World by himself 200 years before he did in the main timeline, and without no Nazarick. It was actually oddly refreshing to see Momonga/Satoru act on his own volition without any of the Tomb or NPC's bullshit influencing his every action.
I remember them saying that the main reason volumes 15 & 16 took so long to come out was the Mariyama having writer's block due to being unable to relax at his favorite café, where he wrote practically every novel of Overlord. So I assumed all the fluff and padding was him just trying to progress the plot along to where he wanted, but it obviously went way off course. Also, not gonna lie, most of 15 and part of 16 made Ainz out to be so dumb. You mentioned the candy-scene and oh boy, I did not find it funny as the author probably thought it was. Ainz did Olympic levels of mental gymnastics to justify why that the adults in the village were staring at him funny. He genuinely thought that adults were just jealous that they weren't getting candy, but in reality, he looked like creep trying to entice the little kids with candy.
1 to 2 years not being able to go at his favorite relaxing cafe. never found a better alternative. never thought of creating a relaxing environment. the author is done.😂 maruyama wants to end overlord in 3 titles. Half elf god kin is done. 2 more. and he wasted 2/3 overall of the 2 books. the only good part was beginning 15 and ending 16. Like a car, maruyama isnt out of gas. he blown the engine. he cant proceed any longer.
@@susandinosaur732 It's actually quite common for writers to get comfortable in a single space or routine. Alternatives don't always work, for one reason or another. And Japan's response to Covid was strong. Does Mariyama want to end Overlord certainly he does. But the quality, incoherent rambling that split volume 14 into 15 & 16, is a clear sign of someone trying to fill empty space.
I genuinly think that this has been one of the weakest arcs in all of Overlord. I really dislike how everything that happened seemed to have such a small impact. I did not expect Aura and Mare to make friends, but i had hoped that the events in the elven kingdom would be fun to read, but appart from the chapters with Zesshi and Decem i did not enjoy the majority of these two volumes.
Its because of author fatigue. I heard that the author isnt getting enough from the media franchise he created to fully support himself so he is trying to tie up all the loose ends he could and end the series. I would also assume he wouldnt make a sequel unless its his only option for income.
@@MiseRaen not sure about the second half, but the author fatigue part is definetly true. He's gone on record saying he's just lost the passion for writting the story and it makes sense that the results of that would eventually show
I totally agree with you as i also felt the almost same when reading 15th and 16 volume.. Its only because we know that, we don't have much left to be fed when there's only couple more volumes to go. Hell, ill be mad even if its 3-4 more volumes. Cause, while we are reading it for the first time with the knowledge of its going to end within next 4 volumes max, we expect something fullfilling or tying some old lose ends. At that point we are fine as long as its something of value or stretched upon subject finally getting its time. But then we get the paid vacation or kids trip to countryside. Although it is also one of the subject that Ainz has brought up a few times its totally not the one anyone wants but the more it drags on the more we think that, Damnn why this thing is still going, we are halfway through the volume.. and it goes on and on and on till the end. Only noteworthy things I remember from volume 15 are some of the dialogues of theocracy. Then we begin with volume 16, and in this we still continue to drag on the elf thing for almost half of the volume. Which albeit being lot less than 15th, pisssed me lot more than 15th volume. But with the situations going on with ongoing wars which now start to impact even dark elf villages far outside of main city where Ainz and twins resides, we know this extra no needed info journey will finally end and we will get to some good stuff which allows us to hold stronger and move forward with the volume. Then later half of the volume is just going from 1mile/hour to 1000mile/hour. Elf king, theocracy, zesshi and darkness lord dragon stuff really push the volume to very high level in terms of overall rating. Author trying to make Ainz dabble in alchemy/make his connection with whole elf kingdom should not be considered a small matter at all, but during this time of period is not the best choice as we all can guess that this much of a build up will never get enough time in future to end it properly. So why bother. At the end of volume 16, we can guess that next in light novel will be Ainz trying to defeat and conquer theocracy, we will also need to see dragon lord's empire, the darkness lord's scheme for sure. And with just this stuff we can guess that even 2 volumes should not be enough. So either Darkness lord will be introduced directly or Pdl and other lords from dragon kingdom will be introduced directly. And one of them will get very brief introduction. Anyway just hoping that if we are to get only 2 volumes then they both should be around 800 pages each. For me 15th volume was almost pointless while 16th was actually quite good. And i am being very generous for 16th cause of the later half.
Completely agree with your points, after I finished 15 it had felt like I read nothing of importance to the overall story, and then 16 had 10 million important things happen right at the end. Disappointed, but I guess that's what happens when you create such a rich and well-fleshed out story and then get burnt out. Best of luck to the author and I hope he can find it in him to give us fans the ending we want with proper payoff
in my opinion, if you are burned out or don't want to make the novel anymore let someone else write it. so the fans could enjoy a well written novel and it doesn't bother them anymore. Overlord had so much potential and I hate when things like this get rushed to the end just to end it. seems pretty distasteful.
With how the last volumes are going, you could make a 2 part movie series if you think about it. First movie covers the elf god kin and second part covers the war against the Slane Theocracy. Although a single season could cover it altogether. He can always cover a few things when he’s up to it in web novel format or short side stories. I don’t entirely think every sub plot has to be solved in a series since real life works that way sometimes to with unresolved things
There never going to make it into a 2 part movie, if they made a movie just for the elf god kin, people would walk out half way. he's not going to go back to the Web Novel, he has stated over and over and over he's done with Overlord, he's cutting the story short and rushing it to get it done, he's not then going to go web novel and add more, that just makes no sense after what he has done and said. "I don’t entirely think every sub plot has to be solved in a series since real life works that way sometimes to with unresolved things" It does when its key to the story, which anyone reading would know the massive amount of unfinished key story points. And you don't start sub plots ready to add more to just end high and dry.
@@Espiritu_Analysis well ya he’s upset with everything said and done. And I mean to say that it’s not a lot left. I mean to say any author can change their mind in the far future if he decides to write again however that is unlikely. It’s nothing to keep any hope for. But things can always change 5, 10 or more years down the line. And ya the sub plots unfortunately have started when they shouldn’t have but oh well. I know he’s cutting it short as you said. But anyways it’s at least pretty much confirmed we have the rest getting adapted with the season 4 finale
I'm guessing that the reason behind Vol. 15 + Vol. 16 being mostly Ainz fluff is because this was the last time we really get that. With how this volume ends, I guess that Vol. 17 + Vol. 18 are gonna be mostly action, much like how Vol. 14 was.
I don't so tbh it was sonot the writer style that I think he was dragging himself through writing Volume 15 his style returned part way through vol 16 when he started seeing the pharmacist.
I personally agree with just about everything you have said though I don't mind fluff too much but with this potentially being the 3rd to last book before the end I felt like it was a bit much. The meat and potatoes of this volume was Elf King/Zesshi fight. I understand the author is probably fatigued with Overlord and wants to do a romco next but the series really needed more volumes because as you said, there still so much stuff left unresolved. Dragonic Kingdom, Council State, the 8GK's capital, whatever happened to Clementine body(If she was revived), the other Dragon Lords, and if Ainz is truly the only Player of this era(I personally think he is). I really hope the end is satisfying.
honestly if there even was a season 5 ( because lets me honest after season 3 i thought the anime would have killed itself ) id say they are just going to fluff the hell out of it, i mean the last episode had a ( SPOILER ) Dance sequence with the princess and that was actually probably one of my favorite parts in the series as she finally loses it. I mean who knows we still got the movie coming so they may pull some crazy stuff and buy the rights and stuff from the auther depending on how good it goes. i dont know is that a thing?
Im started to think the Anime adaptation will ended with Holy Kingdom Arc The Movie. Dunno why its like one of the most standout and interesting, since I too lost interest with the LN after Elf arc(which I doubt gonna get an Anime adaptation).
There is to much plot to cover in only 2 volumes, and I refuse for it all to be left to an open ending. -The is Corpus of the Abyss which alone could be a whole volume of content if done right. -All those dragon lords. Platinum, Deep Darkness, Vampiric, Elder Coffin, Brightness, Catastrophe, Primordial, Swordmaster, Heavenly, Diamond, Blue Sky, and more... -That Dwarfen blacksmith who ran away taking the ingot. -Antilene Heran Fouche, (Zesshi) if she’s just tortured, and killed despite her having so much plot potential, I’ll be dissatisfied. She can be tortured, and brainwashed but don’t kill her, and don’t torture her for all of eternity please. Ainz, you should know she had nothing to do with Shalltear. -The Slane Theocracy, their gonna be destroyed but please don’t be a complete wipeout, the captain of the Slane Theocracy should maybe have a decent fight against the battle maids perhaps? -The other 8 out of the top 10 talents of the new world. -Children of players, and npcs. -Are you telling me that there is no player or npc or even former guild bases in this world that can be made into a volume. Example: The player is dead but his/her npcs are still alive because lifespan, and their only duty now is to guard the guild base. Ainz raids it, and fights against this npc who is most likely level 100, and either kills him/her, or tells her to have a new purpose in life, and kneel before him. -How is Climb doing, has he met Sebas, is Brain resurrected (Probably not but a man can dream.) Is Climb keeping his sanity, how is Renner treating him, and how much power have they given Renner? -Adventurers guild. -Far, far away nations, and land marks. -Argland Council State. They most likely will attack or support the Slane Theocracy while they are in the middle of being invaded. -Blue Rose. -Albedos hit squad, Cocytus Ruling the lizard men, Sebas has a child?, etc... -Kingdom building. -There was also that 1 chapter in volume 12-14, where a girl was planning a Olympics type event. -What is the farry way road (Forgot the name, my bad.) the dark elves keep mentioning. -Ijaniya, the assassin group mentioned to take the name of 1 of the 13 heroes. Most of those are at the top of my head, I’m sure I’m missing some, and even while you write about those events, more plot can be created not to mention such as. Overlord can have a time skip about 10 or more years, maybe until the new players arrive, and we see it from their point of view for the first chapter before alliance, conflict or whatever. Can be a whole volume, 2 volumes or more, with the new players gathering the new worlders around them for a rebellion, they probably have a few world items to. (1-3) Remnant Dragon Lords who were in hiding, children of Godkin from the theocracy if the Black Scripture Captain guy is forced or told to impregnate several women, these women escape, and 1 of the children grows up to be a hero. A real one who is maybe level 100. If Evileye is still alive, 100 years of hard work can perhaps make her level 80 or so, and with her talent, she can be op. If Zesshi is forced to join Nazarik, she might betray them, and a full on war, an actual fight can happen. (I doubt Ainz would lose though.) Overlord can’t leave an open ending or solve most of these in the background, some sure but it will be hella disappointing if it does. I love Overlord, and I know there is enough content for Overlord to be over 40 volumes, now that is to much but 20-25 volumes is perfect no? Am I asking to much? (I probably am.) Hopefully there will be side stories, web novels, and 1 or 2 more alternate volumes. A continuation of the Vampire Princess of the Lost Country, or just more in depth, how Ainz deals with the Minatour Sage, the evil deities, and 13 heroes, and now Nazarik. I personally want Ainz to fight Nazarik, he can fight Albedo, and Demiurge but Sebas, Pandora’s Actor, and some more, Nigredo... joins him. (Ainz has the rings, they don’t, he can cause damage as long as he gets in Nazarik, also Albedo is not in love with him. She’s a bitch remember.) Ok, this was to long. Sorry for the rambling.
I think the author will make Zezhimi dream come true: A man who can defeat her, this would be fun to see since Aura could be a bit jealous of the attention that Mare is having
@@heitorpedrodegodoi5646 She’s a prisoner, and most likely being tortured right now, maybe not tortured because she’s to high level, but she’s definitely not being treated like a guest.
actually I agree with you, I come to overlord as book reader not as otaku or anime fans, for me the first thing that made me follow this novel series is because the author can portrayed one character with ambiguous moral standard and play along with the balance about the good and evil side, and also the author can brought that heavy concept with his own humor and comedic approach that make me always waiting how this mess be concluded in the end. but his story excitement declined when the story come to holy kingdom arc and its story telling element get worsen. many mystery, character, lore and logic left unconcluded and the part that supposed to be important and detailed just get pass through in several sentences, meanwhile the part that unimportant to the plot written with more specific detail, I talk about how they "infiltrate" dark elves village and the significance of journey to dark elves village, it's like not adding any significance to the main story other than the author obliged to tell that kind of story because he put that as cliffhanger in his previous volume, Ainz and nazarick really not get anything from that dark elves village, even the pharmacist part we never know if that dark elves' medicine knowledge worth to Nazarick. then come the "steal kill" it's weird that they got no important item/equipment/artifact or any information about the origin of elf related lore/ significant unexpected fact...the author only use that part to kill the main antagonist and put theocracy cliffhanger, nothing more. the story itself really has the potencies but that potencies never dug more deeper dan the author really rushed the story so he can finish the whole series in 17 volume as he targeted, I don't know why the author need to rush his works
Respect the opinion. I definitely wanted more world building for vol 15/16. Vols 15 and 16 remind me of 12 and 13 where 12 is definitely the stronger of the two. It's likely that volume 17 will be similar to 14 which was amazing. Hope the author ends on 22 or 25 volumes tho as their is so much story left with the dragon lords.
The author just has a burn out, and just doesn't care anymore. He doesn't care whether people like it or not, he wanted to write this an just did. This happens when authors lose interest in their work.
I’d be disappointed if they didn’t wrap up the things right to potentially include figuring out how players were sent there and if that’d be a potential threat in the future to come back too
I can't believe that the Author is ending Overlord cause he's tired and he said it in a past post/Interview. That he rather work in a Office job than continue overlord. Am like bro, you're making alot of money and with the movie even more. I hope he sees this and re thinks
He doesn't make much money kodama screwed him over the compeny in fact makes lots of money but because of signed contracts he doesn't get much at all in fact this is one of the main reason why he lost passion overlord was his first work but got screwed by greed
I can't say I dislike the rambling fluff of these 2 books because I do like it. Its part of what makes the world of Overlord feel so lived in. But I get the disappointment that time is being spent even now introducing new things and giving off the feeling that important stuff we've come to care about is being skipped, cut, dropped, or brushed aside while the author rushes to the end. That sucks and I feel it too. I wish Maruyama still enjoyed writing the series. Because I would love it if this had another 10 or 15 volumes on the way (especially because the English hard covers with So-Bin's artwork looks so damn clean on my bookshelf) but I don't want a creator forced to keep creating something they've lost the passion and enjoyment for. But it's hard to not feel some sadness that what we were originally sold on is being cut short.
I really enjoy your content, I hope you keep covering overlord. Audible has the light novels, which I started listening to this week. I don't like reading so I thought this would be a great way to carry on my overlord experience! Some of your subscribers but like it too
I was hoping that all their meddling would prop up some interesting brilliant strategy by pure coincidence, such as maybe assisting that dark elf village would rally them in a conflict with the main elf king and cause a new ruler to take place under the worship of nazarick. Or maybe the slaine theocracy would discover the results of the conflict and be left with a lasting impression that would drastically change the operations of the akane theocracy in the future. Or maybe ains would let zeshi escape and the slaine theocracy would despair even further at the prospect of ains meddling with the elves. There were so many interesting plot points to be explored, as well as more development of the dark elves and other elven culture being more developed. That it just ended up feeling like filler in the end.
Tbh I've become kinda bored with it all. There's no stakes to be had, Aniz never loses and none of his npc get killed off of even hurt. It would be more interesting if he had to fight an equal but opposite guild.
This ain’t the anime for you. The whole point is for him to Conquer and become Overlord of the new world. No one will be an actual challenge to Ainz or the guardians. Ainz isn’t dumb enough to let anyone from Nazarick die especially after the Shalltear incident. There shouldn’t be a match for them realistically. It’s about World building and plot.
@@mark45635 I'm fully aware of all that, however with the new novels, the author doesn't make use of many situations he set up. Stakes give a story teeth, Demon Slayer did that well. I simply wish the same for Overlord.
I was so darn disappointed with the last 2 novels. I was surprised to know that I could be so bored with overlord cannon. Even when Zesshi used ainz and shaltear's trump card, I was like how wtf? It just didn't register Zesshi acting differently from how she was described, Ainz Just about to Rush into a war without knowing absolutely everything he can about the theocracy and etc if the writer is tired, he should go to bed. But still, thanks to him, for giving me such a good time with overlord.
Mare went all the way and mimicked Ainz samas tactics. What ainz always wanted was for the NPCs to think of the best tactic. Albedo/Pandora/Demi can exceed Ainz expectations. other need to be spoonfed.
I think we can blame Kadokawa in some way but, I heard that the author himself said his getting tired of writing Overlord. If anything, I think they should extend season 5 into a 22-24 episodes. That way, Maruyama will be able to add more context to the ending of the story,
True, if it was part of a 30th some books would be fine, even if after 2/3 of fluffy it had some kind of payoff in the end it would be better. If I'm not mistaken the WB ends with the kingdom stomping right? it's like the author was having too much fun in the slow life in the village and then someone reminded him to step up in the gas because the end was near. The elf village was just blue balls all around, we never got to see how the empire reacted to the kingdom stomping, never saw the blueberry storyline conclusion it seems that the author just forgets, we never saw the young elfs vs old elfs clash that he kept teasing, we never saw mare and aura reaction playing house, not enough ZZ backstory or development, elf king was lacking in more lore. was kinda sad to wait for so long and got so little
wn ends with the empire alliance but instead of sorcerer kingdom Ains just gets to be a baron, then theres a weird filler arc about an OC from the empire
i think that a real fan can be honest about the flaws of a work he loves and still love it, i really like overlord but youre right about how the story loses focus on this later volumes and it feels like a lot of those volumes were wasted, now, a fanboy who cant deal with reallity will cry about it but i really think is just the minority (they are louder sadly) having an honest opinion about something you like is never a bad thing
I want to know about, Book of spells World item from 8 greed kings (Book 5), 6 Great Gods item stash with Slane Theocracy, What is in the rift near Dwarven city, capital of 8 greed kings in desert, Draconic kingdom and Council state, Red potion development, Development of Sorcerer's Kingdom, Runecraft development, Other realms and lot more I can't remember now.. arrghh
marumaya > editor > marumaya > editor > publish. Volume 15 1/3 Good. 2/3 Meh. 3/3 Bad. Volume 16. 1/3 Bad. 2/3 Meh. 3/3 WOW No one of them saw this as trash? like divide it in 9 equal parts. 7 crap. 2 gold.😂 what a trash these 2 books are. I currently have 10 books. not planning to complete the set anymore.😂
I may be a few days late to this video, but I would like to share some thoughts. While reading the comments, I noticed that a few people have been saying that Overlord has relied on the overpowered nature of Aniz and Nazuric in the new world. While correct in some regards, I feel like they are missing the forest for the trees. To me, the charm and appeal of Overlord are that all of the characters feel like living people. Aniz still has the mind of a human in the body of a skeleton. The world feels alive thanks to the extreme detail the author has put into Overlord. From what I heard in this video, the author has begun to have burnout with this story. It is sad to hear, but burnout happens to all of us. I hope that Kugane Maruyama can regain his passion for this sears. If possible, I would love to see him rework these novels to fit into the overall story. Overlord is a unique novel and needs time to mature and grow. If I could talk to Maruyama, I would say that it's ok to take time away from a project to regain your focus and passion for it. You have built a massive fanbase that will support you no matter how long it takes. The stories of the New World and Aniz have only just begun.
its probably a money thing, he probably cut a bad deal at the start wen he didnt think it would get big and doesn't get much kick back from a really popular story. at the end of the day they have to make a living and if they think they can make more by getting a new deal when they make a new story thats how it be.
I didn't enjoy both volumes. The last fights with Elf King and Oreo Girl were lame. The decision from Oreo girl to stand her ground and fight to the death while Mare was just casually bonking her was so illogical it made me annoyed, the author just threw her away. Mare itself got barely any development or different insight in his character. The attack on the Slane Theocracy gonna be a total curb stomp just like the Kingdom. The Elf Kingdom part which was supposed to be Mare and Aura's time to explore and learn was just Ainz and a fat Dark Elf love story. I will continue to follow Overlord until the end but I advice people to lower your expectations when everything comes to a close. The author is gonna rush through everything and loose ends will stay loose.
When I got done reading part 2 my first thought was there's too much left. So my idea was that the author is probably going to have to make at least three parts of volume 17 if he wants the story completed. The main reason why that was my theory is just because going up against the Theocracy is going to make Platinum move.
I agree with all of your points on this. From what was written so far, I suspect that the final two volumes may have three plot points in full. The invasion of the Theocracy, Albedo's squad, and the coven of undead (possibly tied in to the Theocracy's skeleton god) Though I hope I'm wrong and all of these are fully fleshed out and we get more than two volumes... I am doubtful. The way things had been rushed leaves a bad taste in my mouth
The fluff in 15 and 16 is really only redeemable if they somehow utilize the dark elf village in a sequel novel (idk, maybe talking about how after the fall pf the Elven kingdom, the Dark Elf village becomes the new head of state due to having the closest relation to the next potential qualified people being Aura and Mare (as they have the eyes of royalty). Possibly have some time spent on how to best absorb the Elf Kingdom due to the fact that the elves would likely not want to be led by children, but also that the children had the strongest claim due to eyes and strength, and how that could effect things down the line (especially since many who would've had info on the kingdoms past would likely already be dead from fighting the Slaine Theocracy)) Or if they choose to cut this content out for season 5 to fit in more of the Decem and Antilen content. Could go without the pharmacy debacle, and should've done something more regarding the Dark Elf children plot, like have them ask things about their eyes or something and have Aura/Mare inadvertently reveal things like saying "supreme beings" or "creator", and then having this blossom to change whatever religious system the Dark Elf village used in a similar way to how Ainz's words accidentally created a religion in the Holy Kingdom with Neia about strength. Neat plot points like this with potential payoff is better than the weird interaction with Ainz trying to BS his way through pharmacy classes were boring and could've been concluded with less pages dedicated to it in my opinion.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who struggled through these two volumes because of the fluff. I'm used to reading long novels, my favorite fantasy series is The Wheel of Time, but so much if these books are pointless to the overall story. Especially that chapter with Blueberry felt like it took forever to go over for me.
The Theocracy is fucking boned. They wanted to buy time against the Sorcerer King yet they had no idea that they were already marked for death. I know it might be foolish for him to do, but I have a feeling Ainz is going to personally lead the charge against the Theocracy and crush them. Hopefully we get a baby goat part 2.
Man it was a bummer that the majority of the chapter was spent on the dark elf village and especially the whole ainz trying to learn pharmacy while the whole fight with decem or zesshi felt incredibly rushed.
honestly that plot point kinda sounds disappointing the Elf king and the half elf both being defeated killed or captured I kinda figured the elf king would die and the half elf girl from slane people would join ainz if that's how things go down its kinda dull.
The elf King wrongly assumed that the twins where his decedent's calling then grandchildren. Because as far as the new world people know Heterochromia is a elf royalty trait.
honestly the only person I think that can be friends with mare and aura is the half elf but with what happen to her I think that aint happening which is dissapointing and the dark elf village part was really a torture the only thing I enjoy in this volumes are the fights with the elf King and the half elf
Is there a reason why the creator wants to end the series at vol 18? As you said he had lot and lots of ideas, but yet he now trying to compress as much he can now.
Combination of burn-out and illegal translators trying to monetize his work behind his back. I truly believe he loves this series but also feels constrained by it slightly but people using his work to try and scam him and profit off of it was the straw that broke the camel's back and he decided to end it sooner rather than later in response. At least, that's what I heard. Take it with a grain of salt.
@@Dragon_Lair "illegal translators trying to monetize his work behind his back", which is barely a problem. There is a fan translation but they don't even ask for money. Only a couple of illegal sites use that translation and trick dumb people into giving them money. Which is only a handful of idiots. Most of the time the fan translation is just good advertisement. Because that's how I got into the series and I bought an absolute f-ton of merchandise. I highly doubt the author is that bothered by it. He only made one tweet about it which was poorly translated back then. It would be the same mentality of Nintendo getting mad at ROM hacks.
@@Flimmertje Lets not forget most legal translated LN are normally a year or two behind the current stuff. So by the time vol 18 comes out, the 15th vol might be finally releasing in English.
You opinion is exactly mine. I was reading it feeling like something was off about 15 and 16. But you put it into words perfectly. It was all fluff. Most of the dark elf village was pointless to the story. Remove it minus the tribe reporting they are getting attacked and nothing will change. I still like overlord but im kinda sad to see it end this way.
I agree with your analysis whole heartedly. I read both 16 and 17 and felt something was missing the whole time. I just did not enjoy it nearly as much as any other volume in the entire series. I feel they made Ainz dumb, which he is clearly not. They are also fluffing things that don’t need to be fluffed while there are still major plot points to be closed. I don’t take issue with the series ending earlier than intended, I just wish it would end in a somewhat enjoyable way.
Meh, since the author started rushing for the end i lost most of my interest, the novel had an extreme amount of potential, the amount of plot threads completely ignored or destroyed for the sake of finishing the novel makes me sad.
Just need to correct you on one thing. The elf king doesn't reference bukabukachagama (aura & mares creator). He is saying that he is their grandfather at which point aura says no way he is bukabukachagamas father (not the exact quote but thats the gist), the elf king has no idea what aura is talking about. Ainz briefly wonders if the elf king is bukabukachagamas descendant but dismisses the idea as he would be part slime (her race). He then wonders if the elf king is a descendant of her sister akemi who was an elf in ygdrassil but he quickly dismisses that thought too.
No worries the dialogue in that section is kinda confusing. Good vid otherwise. Agree with all your points. Padded and rushed is a perfect way to describe this.
Season 3 and season 4 have a story in between. which is not animated. the volumes about holy kingdom. remember when philip stole the relief goods. it was for the holy kingdom destroyed after a war. thats what you are missing. Its too brutal to animate😂 you need to know about remedios and neiah baraja.
So do you think that maybe the author will see the popularity of overlord the light novel and the anime and do you think and if the movie is a big success do you think that that German studios that he signed two or whatever we’ll give him a big pay cut or a bigger raise or something of that sort?
I had the same issue with volume 15 that i had with 14. Too much unnecessary detail. Kingdom could have been destroyed in half a volume. i would have liked to get more detail on draconic kingdom, city state alliance etc. especially knowing there are so little volumes left. it feels like wasting space when author does that and it is incredibly frustrating. I don't really mind getting the details, don't misunderstand, however, if i know there are 30 or 40 volumes, sure, i would love that. i love a long story that takes its time to establish and can deliver in the end a satisfying end where everything comes around. However, we dont have many volumes left. i would have much rather liked to have more detail on demiurge activities, nfirea and lizzie finally making the red potion, etc. because i know the dark elves are not gonna play a big or any part after this volume. at most, they will just be added to sorcerer kingdom's roster of demihumans. Again, i'm all for depth of characters etc, but when you know you are not gonna get more of this story, it gets incredibly frustrating to be wasting time on random characters we are not gonna see again or get any satisfactory ending for, and by this, author is just creating more and more points that we would want a satisfying end to, but we are not gonna get that in only 2 volumes. Best case scenario would be to get more volumes of course, but as that's not possible, i would have liked to get more depth on the existing stuff instead of creating more plot points that will be left unresolved, and end what we got cleanly, instead of expanding like this. I would have enjoyed it a lot more if i hadn't known there are only 2 more volumes left.
This shit is just sad to see cause with all the art and the interesting concepts and plot points it just makes you really wish the author just finished his work fully like this could have been a good dark fantasy world and story but who knows what's going on with his head.
i'm understand the autor, he is burned and wants to end overlord quickly with open end, but there are some plots that must end yes or yes to end the series decently. 1. theocracy -> for what i think it should be done with the volume 17 and/or 18 2. Blue roses -> this adventurer group has so many interactions with nazaric that should have an end (submision, defeat and run or death) 3. PDL -> this is supposed to be the bad boy of the history who can "defeat" Ainz, He must have 1 more aparition before the end of the series maybe helping the theocracy 4. Argland Council State -> they should start a war to purge the evil (Nazarick) with the help of the dragond lord (including PDL) and be defeated (that army not the nation) and end the overlord series with the quote "So this is how the end beggins" leaving the open end here. This is, in my opinion, the most basic points to solve to end the series good and open ended, so in my opinion he should be done about 20 volumes intead of rusing in, and doing it in 18.
he could rush things with slane and give an open ending. then. coming back to continue the story would be possible. as per the loose ends. 4 books should be enough to explain everything. What i dont understand about this 1 title is that. it got 2 books. and he wasted half of it for a boring story in the woods😂 he supposed to juice out everything before ending it.
I totally agree with your opinion. I would phrase it even harsher: Volume 16 is the worst volume for me because of everything until Ainz starts to fight. At this point it beginns to actually get interesting again but the whole dark elf village arc is the worst. Nothing of importance happened there. I also find the reason Ainz went to the capital is not a natural progression and more of a "the narrative forces him" one? The reason why I find Volume 15 slightly better is that the Ursus-part was entertaining and the characters had a good introduction but in the end (in Volume 16) it got to nowhere. No welcome party, the youngsters did nothing and especially the Aura fanatic did nothing too. (Just suddenly Ainz visits the Alchemist every day and the children are playing every day but every other "village-plot" stops for no reason) And the amount of this boring arc takes a very big part of the story while we all crave that Ainz and co. finally get into contact with the elven king and/or the Theocracy. I really think the autor should have cut the dark elf village part by 80% and instead should have given us more of the Theocracy, a little Enri-part, a little Nazarik part that focuses one of the guardians (Maybe the special squad that is later mentioned for more build-up?) and also a little part for the draconic kingdom to end their part in the story. (Instead of mentioning them in a few sentences)
No surprise Antilene lost, Fairy Tail has taught me to never believe in overhyped antagonist's/villains. She lost the moment she faces a member of Nazarick, disappointing but it was expected as per usual. At the very least I hope Antilene has a happier ending than most. There is a possibility that Ainz will see the memories from the conversation she had with the captain from Overlord II episode 1 about her marrying a man stronger than her an having a child with them, that Ainz will let her live and become Mare's wife. I can accept an ending where Antilene marries Mare and has a child with him.
Kugane Maruyama over here suffering from success, makes one of the greatest light novels and just wants to get it over with. It’s kinda weird but I guess that’s just me as a fan being upset that the story I honestly love is being rushed and will end in 2 more volumes.
Could be an issue where the popularity of the series has lead to an immense amount of stress on the author, so if this is where it ends, perhaps it isn't "the end". How many times has Evangelion "ended"
I was fine reading 15 and 16 since i waited for the entire thing but i definitely dont see myself reading 15. I have seen people say the Holy Kingdom being 2 volumes it too long but i disagree. even doe 11 was a setup, Neia and Remidios development through 11 made the events of 12 feel rewarding for Neia and we get to mock Remidios. The Dark elves really did not matter in 16. You could easily have just the first halve of 11 be the dark elves and the rest be the set up for Zesshi and Elf King. Zesshi barely got any screen time and the Elf King was just done in without any satisfaction. Its really sad to see Overlord do this. Maruyama being tired of it is fine with me. I rather he not put out anything for years and then when he is ready, Release a volume or a 2 parter, Overlord fans would wait for quality than a rush job. Vol 16 is still good to me but only cause Mare carried it Hard.

What happened to dragons kingdom and city state alliance also central continent
I think this fluff is what Mayurama had in mind with the actual story arc but due to his constraints about rushing to just finish overlord, he cut some arcs that could serve as a buildup for thIs visit like what you mentioned being Nfriea's(potion boy) discovery of the potion.
i was right overlord end will suck
That's how you PvP, Elf King does not understand PvP and only thought "Big Numbers Kill"
But he didn't go after him because he said he was low on mana.
So maybe he was approaching half and for him that's too low.
That's the only reason Zesshi caught up to her father
big brain move by Ainz..
This reminds me of Fate Apocrypha when karna uses divine weapons of mass destruction and sieg just kept spamming balmung over and over again
@@ringo69420 but it different in that case
I saw someone pointed this out way back when volume 14 came out, but I have to agree, and from what I hear, this volume supports it even further: When Ainz says "I've lost interest" after Zanec's death, it definitely felt a lot more like the author's words than Ainz's words.
i think this is the second time ainz has ever been serisously mad, if we can take albedo's words as fact. I think the theocracy is gonna get the absolute worst invasion ever
I believe it's 2 times he got mad in this volume. 1.) When the Elf King tried to bed Aura and 2.) Epilogue
He got pretty mad when prince Zanac got offed by his own people. A more controlled anger and admittedly didn't go as ballistic as he did with the workers or Zesshi.
S1, When someone brainwashed Shalltear. Ainz take it personally in the highest level. Theocracy Doom is near
@@bitfrosteseigeheim5605 He seemed pretty mad when Foresight lied to him.
No joke. There's a reason why he said 'In Nazarick Death is a mercy that spares you from suffering.'
I have a feeling Ainz is not only gonna raize the country to the ground, but also keep everyone alive while suffering for an eternity for what they did to Shalltear.
Honestly I really loved how Marre played it Smart when fighting Zesshi
He didn't reveal his Destructive capabilities until the end
He utilised the Scrolls to make Zesshi think that he can only Cast self buffs and made her believe that she's fighting a melee fighter who had some self buffs
He made sure that he wasn't cornered so he could ecape or use his capabilities as a disciple of Disaster and he saved up lots of Mana
He also made her warry of the Gollum that he summoned with the Scroll
Making her wonder if it could get stronger
While marre didn't pull a 4d chess PvP move
He was genuinely capable and smart
I loved it
Also this has nothing to do with the video or volume 16
But I think I finally understand why People Dislike PDL as an individual
He claims that the atrocities that Ainz and Other players like the eight greed kings did are Disgusting and horrible but he never did anything to stop other Nations from committing warcrimes on eachother
PDL was more than Capable of Stopping the Theocracy's slaughter of Innocent demihumans
And the Baharuth empire's annual war with Re-estize
Which would've eventually caused many innocents in the Re-estize kingdom to starve to death
He also didn't try to stop the Demihuman alliance from Slaughtering the People of the Draconic kingdom, nor did he try to defend the Roble holy Kingdom from Jaldabaoth's evil
For someone who claims that he is "Protector of this world"
He isn't protecting Alot
Tho it's more than possible that he fears that his power and influence might eventually turn into a greedy tyrant
He probably should've tried to do better
Mare is literally mimicking Ainz in the ways of pvp
How cute,how adorable

Maybe she thought that he used it to trick her
Why do people think that PDL has to be the godkeeper of every country?
But in this fight we see that ainz ultimate skill is not strong but can be countered by other player easily.
*50
Fluff sums it up nicely. Just words. No deep meaning or purpose.
Maruyama is 3 chapters past needing a long vacation. It's a shame he insists on rushing to the end so cheaply.
But the quality, incoherent rambling that split volume 14 into 15 & 16, is a clear sign of someone trying to fill empty space.
i just wanna see the floor guardians go all out.
I hope the anime cuts these volumes into 2 episodes. A complete waste of my time.
Agreed. The dark elf village did next to fuckin nothing
@@isaacsantos6200 year i skip dark elves village arc , bad as lizardmen

I like fluff and padding it can be so soft and warm especially in the winter ah.
That didn't work out very well with Boruto. 🤷♂
@@Espiritu_Analysis is the author is working on something new?
Buy the rights from the author?
@@heitorpedrodegodoi5646 crazier things have happened in the world of media besides i was spittballing ideas there
There is to much plot to cover in only 2 volumes, and I refuse for it all to be left to an open ending.
Remnant Dragon Lords who were in hiding, children of Godkin from the theocracy if the Black Scripture Captain guy is forced or told to impregnate several women, these women escape, and 1 of the children grows up to be a hero. A real one who is maybe level 100. If Evileye is still alive, 100 years of hard work can perhaps make her level 80 or so, and with her talent, she can be op. If Zesshi is forced to join Nazarik, she might betray them, and a full on war, an actual fight can happen. (I doubt Ainz would lose though.)
Overlord can’t leave an open ending or solve most of these in the background, some sure but it will be hella disappointing if it does. I love Overlord, and I know there is enough content for Overlord to be over 40 volumes, now that is to much but 20-25 volumes is perfect no? Am I asking to much? (I probably am.)
Hopefully there will be side stories, web novels, and 1 or 2 more alternate volumes. She’s a bitch remember.)
Ok, this was to long.
@@grinfo5561 Who knows maybe in 10 years the author will get his passion for the series again and continue the light novels.
I feel you. For such a magnificent and vast world, with so much potential to be cut short, is such a pity.
actually I agree with you, I come to overlord as book reader not as otaku or anime fans, for me the first thing that made me follow this novel series is because the author can portrayed one character with ambiguous moral standard and play along with the balance about the good and evil side, and also the author can brought that heavy concept with his own humor and comedic approach that make me always waiting how this mess be concluded in the end. but his story excitement declined when the story come to holy kingdom arc and its story telling element get worsen.
many mystery, character, lore and logic left unconcluded and the part that supposed to be important and detailed just get pass through in several sentences, meanwhile the part that unimportant to the plot written with more specific detail, I talk about how they "infiltrate" dark elves village and the significance of journey to dark elves village, it's like not adding any significance to the main story other than the author obliged to tell that kind of story because he put that as cliffhanger in his previous volume, Ainz and nazarick really not get anything from that dark elves village, even the pharmacist part we never know if that dark elves' medicine knowledge worth to Nazarick.
then come the "steal kill" it's weird that they got no important item/equipment/artifact or any information about the origin of elf related lore/ significant unexpected fact...the author only use that part to kill the main antagonist and put theocracy cliffhanger, nothing more.
the story itself really has the potencies but that potencies never dug more deeper dan the author really rushed the story so he can finish the whole series in 17 volume as he targeted, I don't know why the author need to rush his works
We can always be expecting an OVA to overlord after finishes hopefully with that we'll get a decent explanation
Honestly like the whole pharmacy thing made sense because only Aniz had fun, the minute he leaves the elf village is when the story starts.
Respect the opinion. I definitely wanted more world building for vol 15/16. Vols 15 and 16 remind me of 12 and 13 where 12 is definitely the stronger of the two. It's likely that volume 17 will be similar to 14 which was amazing. Hope the author ends on 22 or 25 volumes tho as their is so much story left with the dragon lords.
thanks for the great videos!
The author just has a burn out, and just doesn't care anymore. He doesn't care whether people like it or not, he wanted to write this an just did. This happens when authors lose interest in their work.
Thats sad. Its an awesome world.
His burn out might be due to management not giving him a fair share of the cut but a measly amount, hence why he wonders if it's all worth it.
I’d be disappointed if they didn’t wrap up the things right to potentially include figuring out how players were sent there and if that’d be a potential threat in the future to come back too
Heard this volume audible is was really good recommended it
yes agreed, it was like the story is not talking about the important details.
All I can say is Zeshhi got L + whacked + level-gapped + skill issue + fatherless 😂💀

@@grayfullbuster1242 i thought he is doing a collabaration with the author of goblin slayer ?
Some of your subscribers but like it too
Seem to be spot on kind of wish he sells it to someone who have love an a passion for it. Hope they continue it but unlikely, good video spot on.
I'm guessing volume 17 will cover the Slane Theocracy and volume 18 will cover the Argland Council State.

I think we can blame Kadokawa in some way but, I heard that the author himself said his getting tired of writing Overlord. If anything, I think they should extend season 5 into a 22-24 episodes. That way, Maruyama will be able to add more context to the ending of the story,
Maruyama is burn out Overlord would have 50 volumes but he cut to 18 to finish the story
8:15 I’d assume it was brushed over because ainz acknowledging his friends weren’t there in vol 14
The editor really should have caught Maruyama in a safety net with how Overlord’s story is laid out.

@@gigimelenohelophobia471 that’s when I wish I could give him all of Ainz’s gold so he could live comfortably.
Where are 15 and 16 sold? I'm looking on Amazon and kindle
When I got done reading part 2 my first thought was there's too much left. So my idea was that the author is probably going to have to make at least three parts of volume 17 if he wants the story completed. The main reason why that was my theory is just because going up against the Theocracy is going to make Platinum move.
Maybe a bonus light novel with filled with fluff to concluded those side stories. we can only hope ofc
I can finally start spoil with friends after I listened 14-16.
I agree with all of your points on this. From what was written so far, I suspect that the final two volumes may have three plot points in full.
The invasion of the Theocracy, Albedo's squad, and the coven of undead (possibly tied in to the Theocracy's skeleton god)
Though I hope I'm wrong and all of these are fully fleshed out and we get more than two volumes...
Possibly have some time spent on how to best absorb the Elf Kingdom due to the fact that the elves would likely not want to be led by children, but also that the children had the strongest claim due to eyes and strength, and how that could effect things down the line (especially since many who would've had info on the kingdoms past would likely already be dead from fighting the Slaine Theocracy))
Or if they choose to cut this content out for season 5 to fit in more of the Decem and Antilen content.
Great video, but you should add some background music too. Think that might fit well
The Theocracy is fucking boned.
We should buy the rights and continue the story.
Why don't people stop buying the books if they're bad?
honestly that plot point kinda sounds disappointing the Elf king and the half elf both being defeated killed or captured I kinda figured the elf king would die and the half elf girl from slane people would join ainz if that's how things go down its kinda dull.
The elf King wrongly assumed that the twins where his decedent's calling then grandchildren. Because as far as the new world people know Heterochromia is a elf royalty trait.
They are cut for the ‘the story of what happened to people’ novel he wrote on Web Novel site, I hope.
honestly the only person I think that can be friends with mare and aura is the half elf but with what happen to her I think that aint happening which is dissapointing and the dark elf village part was really a torture the only thing I enjoy in this volumes are the fights with the elf King and the half elf
We need to capture Kugane Maruyama and hold him hostage to make Overlord content INDEFINITELY. Overlord CANNOT die. #HardcoreOverlordFan

I agree.
My thoughts exactly, volume 15 was a total nothingburguer
Meh, since the author started rushing for the end i lost most of my interest, the novel had an extreme amount of potential, the amount of plot threads completely ignored or destroyed for the sake of finishing the novel makes me sad.
damn haven't read overlord LN almost 3yrs and now they already moved to elf kingdom?
Just need to correct you on one thing. The elf king doesn't reference bukabukachagama (aura & mares creator). He is saying that he is their grandfather at which point aura says no way he is bukabukachagamas father (not the exact quote but thats the gist), the elf king has no idea what aura is talking about. Ainz briefly wonders if the elf king is bukabukachagamas descendant but dismisses the idea as he would be part slime (her race). He then wonders if the elf king is a descendant of her sister akemi who was an elf in ygdrassil but he quickly dismisses that thought too.
OW ok, yah I read it wrong, ty for the note!
No worries the dialogue in that section is kinda confusing. Good vid otherwise. Agree with all your points. Padded and rushed is a perfect way to describe this.
Be nice if they just end with a clip of that last war and some cool future coexistence under the supreme ones rule
Can I ask for help, Right after the Overlord S4 ends, what volume should I start reading to catch up to the end of the series?
I would have enjoyed it a lot more if i hadn't known there are only 2 more volumes left.
time for fan fiction to fill the gaps
Where can I read volume 15??
Where does this take place compared to the anime?
This shit is just sad to see cause with all the art and the interesting concepts and plot points it just makes you really wish the author just finished his work fully like this could have been a good dark fantasy world and story but who knows what's going on with his head.
i'm understand the autor, he is burned and wants to end overlord quickly with open end, but there are some plots that must end yes or yes to end the series decently.
1. theocracy -> for what i think it should be done with the volume 17 and/or 18
2. Blue roses -> this adventurer group has so many interactions with nazaric that should have an end (submision, defeat and run or death)
3. PDL -> this is supposed to be the bad boy of the history who can "defeat" Ainz, He must have 1 more aparition before the end of the series maybe helping the theocracy
Trinston was here. ..
So what was zeshys talent?
I totally agree with your opinion. I would phrase it even harsher:
Volume 16 is the worst volume for me because of everything until Ainz starts to fight.
(Just suddenly Ainz visits the Alchemist every day and the children are playing every day but every other "village-plot" stops for no reason)
And the amount of this boring arc takes a very big part of the story while we all crave that Ainz and co. finally get into contact with the elven king and/or the Theocracy.
What happened to shalteer?
WE NEED OVERLORD 2
