@@craigruddock3824 Well that's where it gets interesting and strategy comes into play. You can choose to fall back to have the advantage of touch or decide to keep your position in front and lose that benefit. It's all about who you want to touch and when.

I can just see it now, just like cycling, skating, and vaulting; when one guy crashes everybody behind him dies that's what real competitive sports is.
I started Inline Speed Skating at age 40 and competed for 8 years. Was in the best shape of my life.
Literally everyone is in everyones way, they might as well start throwing elbows. Why not just send them one at a time and record fastest time.
i'm trying my best to explain. same as in daytona 500 or whatever it's called.
The track is oval, so fastest line would be the same and difference in times would come to 0 eventually, this sport wouldn't have lasted for a week if it was your way. it's about attacking and defending positions, not going round and round. the whole point of the competition is racing. they all have same level stamina and leg strength also their knowledge in skating is practically the same. its all about knowing when and how to attack, and how to defend. so your suggestion wont work.

Would be much better if it was a pursuit, ie. everyone starts equally spaced round the track, and the fastest wins. Maybe if you catch and tag someone they are eliminated.

Didn't know this sport existed but it looks great fun.... like short track speed skating on ice. Should one day be a summer Olympic event. Oh and the NZ guy has nothing to complain about because he was trying to push the Belgian guy around but came off worse himself that's all haha.

except when the guy in black pushed the leader in dark blue out near the end it seemed like chicken shit.
So Michael was mad at Swings, but it was Michael who came in hard at Swings who only defended his position..
And after watching 10 times I still have no idea why Le Pivert was angry at Swings. If anything, Jimenez pushed him a little, but mostly it was just his own mistake..
Yeh Michael had to reason to be mad at Swings, but I think Le Pivert was only expressing his anger at Swing because he got pushed out by Jimenez.
BTW Swings is a perfect name for this sport. 😂 This was fun to watch!

If the Village People ever get back together, one of them needs to adapt a speed skater's outfit.
Lots of Pushing. That shouldn't be allowed. If the point of this is to see who is fastest in a 1000 meter race. Then make a 1000 meter long straight track and give all of the racers a straight run to do and see who is faster. Anyone can push someone out of the way. But if we are talking about speed then that would be the best way to see who is fastest.
Unknown Person it’s more than just going fast, its about skating smart, making the right pass and defending your position
1000m is 1km. so doesnt make sense to make it a straight line track.
Now, make that argument for Nascar and see if you still hold the same argument.
There’s strategy in this type of racing, similar to cycling.

because the guys behind have less air resistance -> they have more speed then someone in front -> they dont want to hit him -> they push him slightly on the back so the speeds get equal. You see that a lot on cross country skiing when they go downhill.

I'm actually disgusted by that one guy who just completely gave up. Even though his position might not have changed I would have really respected the hustle / tenacity.
He finished the race though which says something, probably gave up because it was very unlikely for him to win.
