Erik here! I can't believe I misspoke this. Obviously, it's the great REGINALD VELJOHNSON... (not Dominic). Ho ho ho I'm an idiot.
Do Lethal Weapon. DO LETHAL WEAPON!!
He also did a cameo in Ghostbusters!
@@Jaytube106 he's getting too old for that shit
I watched die hard on christmas eve before I even saw this was video
I grew up watching family matters so you really had me questioning my memory!
I used to watch this movie with my dad every weekend / and Christmas when I was young, he died when I was 18, at 27 I still watch it every year. Thanks for this
Same!! 😌🙏
Yippi-ki-yak other buckets
NOICE
NINE-NINE
Nine nine
Cool cool cool
Nein!
I must have watched Die Hard a thousand times, but I never got Ellis' off-screen "can I get some coke" request reference. I actually learned something here. Who knew?
Omigod you're RIGHT
It's not Christmas until Hans Gruber goes off the Nakatomi Tower! Yippee Kay Yay!!
DieHard is my favorite Christmas movie and Lethal Weapon is a close second.
Had to like, because Intimidator3 forever
thank god they didn’t stick with Schwarzenegger or Stallone
lol! Imagine Schwarzenegger saying " Yippee Kai Yay... with that Austrian accent.. That could of been hilarious.
DNulrammah German vs. kind of German
You think that's bad, they were contractually obligated to offer the role to Frank Sinatra, who was over seventy years old at the time.
It's not Christmas without Die Hard!
Yes
Lethal Weapon is a Christmas movie. We watch it every year, right after Die Hard.
Such an amazing movie. A masterclass in action cinema. Few movies can be this good this many years after release. Easily one of my top 5 action movies of all time with Aliens, T2: Judgement Day, The Raid, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Die Hard - the true family Christmas Movie!
with boobs and guns
The terrorist with the "southern accent" is an American (Eddie, the only American in the group), not a German putting on an American accent. In fact, the group is not exclusively German at all.
So that wasn't Huey Lewis? 😂
There are 2 Americans in the group.
Thats what I came here to say too lol
@@runlarryrun77, yes, thank you, Eddie and Theo.
Fritz is an austrian gg
9:00 Falcon was the call sign that General Esperanza had in Die hard 2.
I figured that the reason John McClane (ie John Wayne) was shoeless was to emphasize his (and America’s) ability to “think on his feet (ie abstract thought)” to counter the villains who hide behind their textbook plans that depend on people/the government being predictable.
Also keep in mind the “shades of grey” outfits of the villains (evil as ambiguity) compared to McClane’s black and white outfit.
For as detailed as your video was, I cannot believe that you missed the real "Akagi" connection! Not only was that the carrier that served as the flagship for Pearl Harbor, but it also carried Vice Admiral Chūichi Nagumo. James Shigeta, who (of course) played Takagi in "Die Hard," also played V.Admiral Chūichi in the 1976 film, "Midway," aboard the Akagi!!
David Gannon judging you by your avatar, it would figure that a soldier from WW2 would know that.😉
Monroville, I watched the 1976 Midway film not a week ago and was very surprised to see Shigeta in that movie, let alone as the V. Admiral aboard the Akagi, which I remembered was Takagi's password in Die Hard!
for me die hard and gremlins are some of the best Christmas movies
Gremlins yo
And Christmas Vacation
Also Lethal Weapon.
The closing moments of the movie used Vaughn Monroe's version of "Let It Snow", not Dean Martin's.
3 favorite Christmas movies
1: die hard
2: lethal weapon
3: home alone
YES! Few others also acknowledge Lethal Weapon as a Christmas movie!
@@TheCawdfather still
One of the greatest and watchable action movies of all time.
Die Hard is such a great film. One of the best hero v villain conflicts in film history.
There were no Kamikaze attacks at pearl harbor, other than that, great video
My favorite Christmas film hans down!
The shirt change has always been the one big wtf in this film for so many but I'm glad it was left out. This director gave us Predator an Die Hard back to back 2 of the greatest action films of all time I love it!!!!
The Ref is kind of a dark Christmas movie.
Sgt. Al Powell also appears in NBC's Chuck which means Chuck is probably in shared universe too.
Wll when you think about it Die hard and Home alone are kind of the same movie: 1. A normal every day joe protecs a bulding
2. The bad guys are stronger by numbers and skills but still get ther butt kick
3. The movie teaches us about value of the family and forgivnes
4. Both heros have to make ther own traps
5. They are both placed during Chrismas time.
P.S. I appologise for the grammar, english is not my first language
Like Jackie Chan - His character usually starts out at a disadvantage.
@@DNulrammah Yes, and progresses to a badass
Who’s looking through the comments to see how many people are yelling at him for saying Dominic not Reginald
I came here just for that. What the hell!?!?
REGINALD.
The disrespect 😪
Outstanding video. Thank you. One of the most amazing movies in the history of cinema - and you made it better for me!
Trading Places is my second favorite Christmas Movie.
There were no kamikazi planes in the attack on Pearl Harbor. They were fighters and torpedo planes. Kamikazees were not used until later in the war when the Japanese were losing. They were a last resort, not a first-strike weapon.
But not really a last resort either. They were just more effective than torpedo bombers because of their built in guidance system.
And also the fact they required less training and their aircraft not being a fair match for the US navy in dogfights.
If you are going to lose your planes anyways, you might as well make them count.
"The Ref" with Dennis Leary is my favorite Christmas movie.
Ditto
Awesome flick, underrated.
@@robmetaldeth1889 Totally agree. Most people I know have never even heard of it.
It's 18th century French huguenot.
Dean Martin doesn't sing Let It Snow at the end of Die Hard. It was Vaughn Monroe.
I also learned that the reason Hans looks so surprised when he fell is bcuz the stunt director dropped him after 2 count, not 3 as planned.
My favourite Christmas movie is ironman3
You need a better taste in movies
He forgot to point out the fact that the reason Hans’ reaction is so perfect when they drop him is that he was told that there would be a 3 count but they dropped him on 2.
Robert C. Phelps They dropped him on 1
The Japanese did not use kamikaze, that is, suicide pilots, at Pearl Harbor. They came along much later in the War.
The Akagi was lost, along with 3 other Japanese aircraft carriers at the battle of Midway, June 1942.
While individual pilots had deliberately crashed their crippled warplanes into American ships earlier in the war, the Kamikaze attacks were first used en masse at the battle of Okinawa, April 1945.
The Japanese had lost all their aircraft carriers in action by that time, so they were all launched from land bases.
04:15 there weren’t kamikaze during the attack on Pearl Harbor. kamikaze wasn’t used until near the end of the war, not the beginning.
It was Vaughn Monroe's recording of "Let it snow" for the movie. (Not Dean Martin)
The best rendition of let it snow by the way.
Merry Christmas!
The fact its CHRISTMAS literally saves the day at the end of the movie
Ellis was so smarmy and I loved the whole scene when he went to talk to them.
Long Kiss Goodnight is a fun xmas watch
That was GENIUS!!! One of your best, and possibly my favorite of all your vids! Merry Christmas Mellon Farmer!
Yippee Ki Yay Melon Farmers
I Love That Goldberg Reference
Alvaro Guzman it’s not
Wow. I had no idea Die hard was so well written. Thanks for bringing this to us.
you missed one:
Hanz was to be let go when they counted to three... so after they shouted One.. they let him "Fall"
Actually it was on the count of two, not one.
That's more of an interesting fact about the films production more than an easter egg or a detail in the movie but I guess it could've been mentioned when they talked about unbuckling the Rolex.
One thing always bothered about Die Hard. McClain was an experienced police officer. No cop like McClain would call that weapon a "Machine Gun"
My favorite unconventional Christmas movies are die hard, lethal weapon, gremlins, trading places, the ref, and the ice harvest. The last 2 are criminally underrated
awesome gift!! I really enjoy those videos! Thank you very much!
You forgot that John's shirt changes colors after he comes out of the vents. It changes from white to green.
SpiderMwa It's brown from dust
@@lavernmerriweather637 No, that's green, but isn't the vent clean anyway? Doesn't look like it would get that dirty. But it's okay with me.
I’m literally watching die hard right now
Same here Christmas tradition
Mammoth Supremacy 55 and?
If you are watching this video, you are not watching Die Hard.
@@RyanAcidhedzMurphy Die Hard is in the video. So I'm watching it too.
I'm figuratively watching Die Hard right now.
Gremlins
Ironically, I just finished Die Hard as this video came out
I don't think you know what Irony is buddy.
Also, "Who gives a sh*t about glass?" is an unintentional tie-in to the Unbreakable universe.
Hans tells his German associate "Schieß auf das Fenster" .. and when he doesn't understand, he tells him again, but in English. Arse backwards.
@@caribstu Carl looks at Hans as if to say "wtf???" because it means shoot the windows, not shoot the glass. This is because Hans has spent too much time away from Germany speaking english. there was a line or 2 about it in the film, but can't recall what now.
Totally brilliant and timely. We watched it this Christmas and being Down Under, there wasn't a flake of snow to be seen either.
Message at 2:04
I watched this Christmas eve, without planning it finished and ode to joy started playing as the clock struck midnight for Christmas day
So doing this on christmas...this means this is an action christmas movie.
❄☃️🎄👌🌡
Another couple of Easter eggs: In the movie Speed, the building that Dennis Hopper sabotages the elevator is Fox Plaza. At the end of Fight Club the building closest to the camera that collapses is also Fox Plaza. In Lethal Weapon 2 when Riggs, Leo Getz and the assassin fall out of the hotel in to the pool as they are trying to get out of said pool you see Fox Plaza directly next to the hotel. In the movie Blind Date when Kim Bassinger goes to talk with John Larroquette about defending Bruce Willis in court you see Fox Plaza out the office window with its upper floors still under construction.
Other unconventional Christmas movie = Lethal Weapon 💪🏻😎👍🏻
My favorite non-traditional Christmas movie is by far Gremlins! From the inciting incident to the saturated setting, it's purely Christmas. It's just a horror-comedy too.
Remove Christmas, Billy gets no present, and we get no movie!
Best Christmas movie ever. Thank you guys for doing this video. You guys are great!!!!!
Every X-Mas Eve, I put my VHS Tape of Blazing Saddles on and Smoke a Cigar.
Kenny Craig niceee
Me I personally put on birth of a nation and chain smoke cigarettes but that’s just me 😐
@@JaBoreman That............was.......................Hilariously Brilliant. ......I needed that. I damnd near pissed myself laughing....
"Woot and Cheers! ...too funny!
This goes up there with Trading Places as my top 2 unconventional Christmas movies
and lethal weapon
The Ref with Denis Leary is one of my favorites at Christmas.
Watched this today, loved it! Definitely a Christmas movie!
Thank you, I always loved this movie and you made it better.
"Batman Returns" (1992) is another of my all-time favorite unconventional Christmas movies, with a nod to "Lethal Weapon" and "Trading Places"... also "Just Friends", but that one might be a little too on the nose rather than unconventional.
Favorite Christmas movie is lethal weapon
If ya'll trying to catch what the text is on the screen use the keys . , to go frame by frame.
Doesn't work on mobile, sadly
@@masonmurphy2679. 25 speed
@@jimger9978 The flash that you guys see is a sentence saying that i mean he, has a girlfriend.
It’s not Dean Martin at the end, it’s Vaughn Monroe’s “Let It Snow”. Get your facts right
They had a 24 hr. marathon of this movie on TV this Christmas....it was great, have to see it every year. I saw it in the theater originally with my dad, so it's sentimental for sure
hey the fists with your toes really work
Thanks for making me obsessively pause to catch all the cigarette burn texts.
And favorite Christmas movie is The Ref.
The japanese DID NOT use Kamikaze Planes at Pearl Harbour (NOTE SPELLING)
Die Hard is my favorite, but I like Batman Returns as a Christmas movie that doesn't get mentioned a lot
Me too!!!!
I NEVER considered BR a christmas movie... but you're 100% correct
Great films. I love Gremlins, too.
We watch this as a family every Christmas Eve😎
"Happy holidays! Unless you're watching this in... next August..."
August 15: Oh my gosh!!! Erik is psychic!!!!!!!
I was skeptical going in, as these types of videos are a dime a dozen; but this was actually really good.
"Hans, Booby...I'm your white knight"
just finished watching the movie half an hour ago so awesome. My christmas tradition!
Fun vid ... Cheers!
It's Reginald VelJohnson, not Dominic.
Thank you. WTF?
Omg, YES, thank you! He repeats it multiple times as well.
I LOVE CHRISTMAS MOVIES... although Die Hard 2 is my favourite Christmas movie of all time.. Love laying on the couch under the aircon in a food coma watching a bit of Bruce.
Better off Dead is my favourite Christmas movie.
My favorite Xmas movies are Go, Better Off Dead and The Ref. I like this one a lot too - and for the record, I've always considered Die Hard to be a Christmas movie. 😉
I love love love Go! Not enough people talk about that movie. Never thought of it as a Christmas movie but now I might have to do a rewatch in the season.
Freaking awesome break down! Thanks.
Deadass just watched it this morning (even though it’s not a Christmas movie)
Did you Know:
Argyle (De'voreaux) is the Young Guitar Thief in The Blues Brothers.
Awesome choice of movie to watch for Christmas
An actual interesting fact about die-hard is when Alan rickman falls to his death, the stunt team said they were drop him on 3...
They dropped him on 2..
That's why he looks genuinely shocked and scared
you watched the English guys die hard video he said those exact words.
It's funny because I was just watching it with the commentary by director John Mctiernan and paused it for a break to watch this video. Got Die Hard in the brain today.
I think you missed this: the name "Hans Gruber" would be a Christmas reference due to Franz Gruber, author of the Christmas song, "Silent Night". Note that Hans & Franz rhyme - and were linked by a famous Saturday Night Live sketch in the late 1980s.
Damn that was fun! I'm off to watch it for the millionth time. Thanks!
Die Hard, Trading Places, and Long Kiss Goodnight are my top3 Xmas movies
Well this was just outstanding!
Gremlins, watched it yesterday for Christmas, great holiday film.
Pretty sure Eddie who poses as the Secretary/Security was actually meant to be American as to not raise suspicion as he has the same Southern accent when he radios Hans later in the film.
I have seen this movie so many times (including first-run at the movie theater!) but I never noticed the elevator ding thing. You just KILLED me ded.
Favorite unconventional Christmas movie?...Lethal Weapon
I am watching this "next August" and I think it's the best Christmas movie I've ever seen!!!
Leather wepon is my favorite Christmas film
