Surgical procedure explanation like this without clinical pictures.... very very commendable... i am a postgraduate student in perio and no one ever explained it like this. Thanks mam...
Thank you dr very helpful ,and could you explain for us a video related the important anatomical considerations in perio surgery either in maxilla or mandible
Excellent presentation! Very clear and concise. One question- is it important to distinguish between attached and unattached keratinized gingiva for this procedure? At one point you called the tissue between the gingival margin and mucogingival junction attached gingiva, but the tissue along the entire pocket depth would be unattached to the bone. Thanks for clarifying!
That's when there is no pocket. Else the clear demarcation is: sulcus/pocket/free gingiva is from GINGIVAL margin to base . Attached gingiva is upto mucogingival junction. As far as this surgical procedure is concerned, distinguishing gingiva is essential so as to plan incisions and place the fgg. As for palatal aspects, graft procurement area is delineated accordingly. Overall, attached gingiva is to be distinguished from free gingiva. Kindly go through my videos on assessment of width of attached gingiva and identification of mucogingival junction to get a better insight into this topic Hope these helps. Happy to help. Thank you for your appreciation
I want to ask that after giving the respective incisions at or below MGJ the flap is displaced more apically rite... So is that soft tissue cut to fit properly apically or basically what is done I got confused ?? I mean apically fold will not occur if we displace the MGJ
Mam your videos are very helpful.. Can you please suggest how to prepare the subject for final mds exams.. And how to attempt an essay question for part 4 paper
WHY WE DONT USE THE SAME TECHNIQUE FOR EXAMPLE FREE GINGIVAL GRAFT FOR ROOT COVERAGE + INCREASING THE WIDTH OF GINGIVA? WHY WE CLASSIFY IT TO AUGMENTATION CORONAL AND APICAL TO RECESSION?

@@dentaltopics177 happy to help.
Do we place a periodontal dressing on a free gingival graft?
Ideally, no bcoz then the graft will get displaced under our pressure of placing a pack and it's retention.
Mam it contains connective tissue and we have Already severed by taking graft even a partial thickness so how the bloody supply is intact?
Blood supple is available from donor site.
WHY WE DONT USE THE SAME TECHNIQUE FOR EXAMPLE FREE GINGIVAL GRAFT FOR ROOT COVERAGE + INCREASING THE WIDTH OF GINGIVA? WHY WE CLASSIFY IT TO AUGMENTATION CORONAL AND APICAL TO RECESSION?
Which technique of augmentation is used in case of deep narrow class 2 or class 3 recession with high frenal attachment
Sub epithelial connective tissue grafting is gold standard. Here, in combination with a FRENECTOMY.
@@dentalstudiessimplified thank you so much.Your videos helped a lot in understanding the topic thoroughly
Mam when we raise the flap why is there a need to suture the flap where the apical portion of free gingival graft is located
To hold the graft and prevent it from falling once the incisions are complete and graft is completely freed from its parent site.
