Hi Bob, I have the same M-9, in black also, the M-9 was also designed to be used as a survival knife too, there use to be a video by Noss, on RUclips, titled "the Russian AK-47 vs. The U.S. M-9", Hip Hip Hurray, for the U.S. of A.
I just got mines earlier today, this knife is no joke, tough as steel, 100% heavy duty, super solid, heavy as a brick, this knife is not cheap at all like all the others, and will never wear down.
the reason the scabbard detaches from the bianchi belt attachment is so you can use it to cut wire without removing the entire thing from your war belt.
Always loved the intimacy of knives, no psycho. btw., just a lover of good steel, it's pretty big but I would so go well in my collection, not a huge fan of serration as they tend to give certain trouble in pulling out of targets on the bayonets, but good on regular knives, but over a lovely piece Ontario knows its trade, Shame it lacks the sharpening stone and extra pocket of Phrobis pattern, also would have gone with the grren olive
I got one of these from some knife/sword store for $40, it even said the suggested retail price should be $99, the guy working the store thought the belt clip was some kind of slingshot.. it's like they hire anyone haha
Real surplus m9 bayonets are about 120 USD right now. Lower quality reproductions are about 50. Surplus AK bayonets that are essentially the same thing but fit AKs are about 20-30 usd right now since they are really easy to find at the moment.
is this blade supposed to have an off-center grind? I got one recently and one side of the blade basically doesn't even have a secondary bevel. I could touch it up but Idk if it's supposed to be like that.
Hmm, one thing I just can't comprehend why the M9 bayonets made after 1994 have non-fullered blades. The ones made before 1994 did have a fuller, granted the 1993 ones had a thinner fuller than the ones made before 1993, but why did they drop the fuller altogether?
The US Military never issued a black M9. They only issued green and tan. The tan version has USMC in the handle. Ontario knife company has civilian models that they make in China. The black M9 is one of them.
This is one tough bayonet !, Noss did a destruction video, M9 vs. Russian AK-47 bayonet, guess who won, Hip Hip Hurry, for the Great U.S.A. after watching the video, I got the M9, and at a pawn shop I also got the AK-47, But I'm Proud to be an American !!!
It was designed for ALICE webbing but it probably does. Anything ive messed around with that had ALICE clips still worked on the MOLLE stuff. The M10 bayonet by ontario is essentially the same thing. Only the blade is 420 modified stainless steel instead of 425 stainless steel and the belt clip is specifically for MOLLE. The handle is also slightly different between the two. They both cost the same thing. And are both black anodized. DONT get all stainless finish those are reproductions not mil.
ai ordered from Ontario knives it showed the belt clip attachment assemblybin the pictures. when O ordered it did not come with it. I contacted the company who dlsaid the picture was wrong. They never gave me the belt clip and they never took down the picture. Highly disappointed with the company. I can not carry on my belt and I had to purchase an aftermarket molle sheath and carry on my vest where I don't like carrying
This sheath hangs down too low which requires a leg strap and the handle bangs against the buckle with each step you take. There is also no pouch for a sharpening stone. I had to modify a single pistol mag pouch to fit this sheath. The Buck M-9 sheath is a much better design. It sits higher up on the belt, has two straps to keep the knife in place and comes with a stone pouch.
Good review. I'm thinking of picking one up. Does anyone know how they compare to the M7 bayonet as far as strictly a combat weapon? The M7 is made of carbon steel and I think the dagger design modeled after the M3 design may be more suitable in that role.
I don't like the grip on Ontario's knife, I like S&W's handle, but I heard their blade's steel was crap. It's it possible to trade the grips out? Or even better, does Ontario have one of the thinner grips like Smith and Wesson so that way I don't need to buy 2 knives just to trade pieces out?
I do this to my hatchets as well and would work just as well on this knife... buy black hockey stick tape. Cheap easily replaceable and great grip. You are able to make your own grip to fit you.
It's used to attach to a rifle (00:22 he said it's fit for AR-15). The Gun barrel will go through that circle. Just google "bayonet us army m9" and you will find the picture :D
It will also fit on a Mossberg 590A1 with the bayonet lug. Just for those that may not know, the 590A1 is a 12 gauge pump shotgun. Really badass with a bayonet attached to it.
Also the M-9, was copied from the Buck Buckmaster #184 Survival Knife, used by the Navy Seal's during the Vietnam War, I have the Buckmaster, and you can see the similarities.
Normally I would have to question someone who calls a sheath for a knife a scabbard.....but seeing how solid that sheath is, I'd say it's pretty accurate.
I'm so glad I watched this video. I was about to sell mine but I'm keeping it now. I got it with my 590A1.
Bless you
Thats funny , I'm looking this up because I just bought a Mossberg 590A1 xs security and this knife . hahaha Looks like it's a winning combo .

Wish u was still around

Take a shot every time this guy says “heavy duty” lol

so that what that hole in the blade is for. always heard there was a wire cutter but never saw how to use it.
is it factory new?
Yeah, but no StatTrak™, unfortunately.
Can you explain to me what do you mean by "modified 420 steel"? I mean what upgrades it has compared to normal one.
That Knife costs more in CS:GO then on this Store....
So?
yea
Scorvo well what kind of steel and quality would you expect from some cheap Chinese game prop? the CS:GO knives are for looks only.
That is the kind of knife we love... Some tactical knife
Is this a full tang? And would it make a great survival knife.
Not a full tang but this knife can sti carry your full weight. Check out its torture test in RUclips by mayor fuglycool.

I want to buy one but too bad. I dont live in the USA.
You should make it possible to ship to countries outside the USA

Very smart system.
will this fit MOLLE?
I use the wire cutter as a bottle opener

The Ontarios handles are more comfortable
lol id never be caught using a smith they make fine fire arms but their knives are absolute junk
I do this to my hatchets as well and would work just as well on this knife... buy black hockey stick tape. Cheap easily replaceable and great grip. You are able to make your own grip to fit you.
Garmmer Mibe S&W knives are trash. I've owned two and both were garbage
how much is that knife?
I'm buying one! Today! :D
what is the difference between ontario m9 490 green and m9 493 black?
+Eddy Wong : Probably just the color. Check out the M11 EOD by Ontario
7:27 did he decided to be extra fancy for a second there?
can somebody tell what in the world the "circle" on the guard are made for? nice design but cannot figure it out
It's used to attach to a rifle (00:22 he said it's fit for AR-15). The Gun barrel will go through that circle. Just google "bayonet us army m9" and you will find the picture :D
Ha dude its a bayonet
Go to 8:02 he explains it.
Dylan Kneifl and its great for running a sapling thru to make a spear.
It will also fit on a Mossberg 590A1 with the bayonet lug. Just for those that may not know, the 590A1 is a 12 gauge pump shotgun. Really badass with a bayonet attached to it.
wooow i'm going to buy this knife:DDD amazing quality *.*

Also Noss did a excellent destruction video with The M-9 vs. The Russian AK Bayonet, Hip Hip Hurray for the Red, White, and Blue. ,, .
You're correct about that. I have a Buckmaster as well and the DNA is undeniable.
Combact or survival knife?
Yes
Click the link under the vid for the price.
Got it for $99.99, gotta love Amazon : )
To drain out water dont you mean blood

@dandotreillydot42058 No, sorry.
Ontario does not provide the stone. Nice blade but incomplete scabbard.
The tang...It`s small as heck.
Potatoheadahoy really? Would you be against batoning with it?
