A most interesting and informative post for which I am grateful. The Little Giant had terrific technique, invention and an unswerving commitment to swing. He may well have been 'the fastest tenor player around, but I'd like to mention Lucky Thomson, who was also no slouch when it came to high speed invention, but thanks again for this one.
Terrific film. You captured the personality, humour, groove, swing and character of this giant. A tremendous artist. I totally agree with your points about live streaming in this epoch. I watch at least three a week. A big shout out to you for speaking about the situation for African Americans past and right now. Regards from Spain. Etc
I beleive the last thing that would impress Griffen, is that he was considered to be the fastest tenor alive. The need to be a Speed Merchant on the Horn, I very much doubt ever entered his mind. It's the saxophonists that have flooded their brains with practicing Scales who are "Worthy" of that "Accolade".
I enjoyed his playing, his personlality and it was great fun and musically rewarding to play music with him!
That clip of A Monks Dream is just incredible, those guys sound so great
He was a great player and we all miss him.
Great! Love it!

Hello from West Wales and thanks for your excellent work as a jazz ambassador!
Hey, thanks!
Thank you!
only saw fans at the vanguard standing on chairs screaming twice, once for JG~
Wow. That must have been some atmosphere. A spontaneous, heartfelt reaction to a special musician.

@@JazzVideoGuy Out of work but hope to donate to your important project very soon.
If you're a jazz musician who is clean, dirty, hot and cool at the same time, you must have something.
