Great choice of color, love the green! I mean grey 😎👍
My Initial first impression of the exterior of the rig is just how clean all the lines are to this vehicle. It’s a beautiful looking rig. I was blown away by how the rear entrance opens up and how the entire ceiling is on actuators which allows you to raise the ceiling up to allow walking headroom. I also couldn’t believe how much interior space this rig has. It’s huge inside. The only thing I didn’t see which I was a bit surprised, is that there is no interior shower or toilet. I find that odd only because some of the new truck campers have found very innovative ways to incorporate a complete dry bathroom without compromising on precious interior space. Other than that this vehicle looks like it was built to survive the Zombie Apocalypse! This camper truly is on a whole other level. Extremely impressive!
Thanks so much! We're able to make models fo this rig with an interior wet bath, but for this vehicle specifically, we chose to maximize interior living space, and have an exterior shower only.
@@RossmonsterRigs I completely understand you wanted more living space instead of an interior bathroom but your rig does have an exterior shower, that’s great. I also forgot to mention that those jump-seats in the rear cab are amazing! I’ve never seen them before but if I owned a truck with an extended cab, I would definitely go with the jump-seats so that you can still use the rear for added storage. Again, your vehicle is absolutely beautiful and extremely practical. Thank you for the response and I wish you both the best! Cheers!
Wow, very impressive. Lots of thought went into it obviously. Love the walk through from the cab to the camper. Can't wait to see the 3/4 ton version.
Thanks so much!
Can’t wait to see your design for F 150 Lightning!
Great video and great explanation of everything.
Thank you!
Super cool rig. As a F-150 owner it makes me want one!!! Interesting placement of the windows? Wish they were over the sink or something in the kitchen, but it's not my rig so do what you want!!!! Love the pass through from the cab. It looks like a F-150 version of the EarthRoamer. Super cool.
Thanks! Our Baja rigs are either custom or plug and play, so you can always choose a different window placement that works best for you.
Does an F150 have enough CCC for that camper? Looks beautiful!
Been l reviewing. Can you get in and move around with the top down? It would be nice to have some windows or lookout on each side to let light in when closed. I’m sure there are times where you can’t open being stealth like on the road and you want use it while in transit to your off road location.
You can move around with the top down, but if you're above 5 ft 3, you need to hunch a bit. In our newer models of the Baja there are windows that you can see out of with the topper down. Additionally, since these are custom, we can add whatever windows are needed for each use case!
Absolutely beautiful I’m sure a beautiful price tag
Nicely overpriced at $175,000
What are the dimensions? What is the interior height of the raised ceiling? How long/wide is the interior floor space? Watta rugged beauty!! Kudos Lucy!!!
Beautiful camper build! So glad conversion companies here in the US are taking note of how builders in Europe are designing their overland vehicles. The one big con of truck campers IMHO is the lack of stealth. When you see a truck camper like this, you know someone is likely sleeping inside. Off road capability is undeniable. Not for me but I appreciate the workmanship.
Clearly a lot of thoughtful design and effort went into this. The main questions I have are around it's true four seasonability. How well is it insulated (K-Flex with Cladding could be perfect augmentation)? Are the tanks insulated or can they be moved to the interior for the heat? Can double pane windows be added instead? Of course some sort of toilet / shower combo should be standard for a rig like this. Having the pass through is awesome, especially in crappy weather. Nice job!
Thanks so much! We've spent quite a few nights in this rig in the sub freezing weather and have been very comfortable. The camper is well insulated and his a Rixen hydronic heat/hot water system. This rig's water tank is exterior, however our latest two models have chosen interior tanks. Cheers!
That's such a cool build! A couple suggestions though...
The door actuator. Very slow to get in and out. Perhaps a regular door on the side would've been best, or just put the tire somewhere besides the door
Also, the windows are covered by the chair backs.
Everything but a view
i really like the way you say button, lol 4:20... anyways great build, I'm sure the client will love it.
Thanks! 👍
Perfect but needs OEM bathroom to complete the package .. you say can be custom-added but people don’t want to think, just wire money and pickup truck
My wife and I have 1/2 and 3/4 ton diesel trucks. I have been considering a 4 Wheel Poptop for the versatility. Pulling our 27ft bumper pull trailer is not practical in some locations and weather environments. My wife seems to like your design. Hope the camper boom lasts long enough to help your company become well established.
Appreciate that, thanks!
Very nice!!! Does the truck bed articulate separately from the cab? Thanks.
We have a flexible gasket that connects the truck cab and the truck camper so that they can articulate separately.
Amazing!!
Thanks!!
Awesome setup
Thanks!
Pretty great design and build! Only aspect lacking is an exterior shower cube and perhaps dedicated spot inside for portable commode. But, those are easy. Couple questions: could you add additional windows, maybe even some above the existing ones? Can you add metal channels outside for mounting gear to the sides and a rack on top for boats, bikes, and solar? What are the sides and top exterior made of and what's the insulation value? What's the static load capacity of the top? Can different rear bumpers be added, like a dual swing out to move the tire to that and make the rear door manual? Thanks for sharing and wishing you plenty of sales, and happy wheeling!
Hey there, thanks for reaching out. RE windows, these can be added almost anywhere, as these will be custom builds. The one in production now has 5 more windows than the one in this video. RE mounting: L-track for mounting purposes can be added anywhere on the exterior. RE the build: there is an aluminum sub frame with a fiberglass exterior and the top is capable of holding 1200lbs. RE bumpers: Yes, many different types of bumpers can be added to these rigs, as again, they will be custom rigs, so will be built to client specifications. All the best.
No way--- BEAUTIFUL
Thank you!
Nice rig. It would have been nice to see outside of truck with the top in the ‘UP’ position. Is it hard sided? Also what is the finished weight; how much cargo can go in vehicle and still stay within GVWR of a F150?
For the first 9 seconds of the video, the top is in the up position, but yes, it is hard sided. The finished weight of the camper shell is about 700lbs. . From there, weight would be determined on each custom build out. This exact build out weighs right at 1500lbs. But with the added leaf suspension give it an extra 900lbs payload and the airbag system we have loaded it up with allows us to carry 2500lbs and get up and down mountain passes here in CO with ease.
@@RossmonsterRigs Thanks the first 9 seconds of the video made me dizzy 🙃 but yes it’s there.
Actually the F-150 with the 9.75" rear axle can be increased with wheels up to 5300 lbs for the rear axle. Combined with the 3800 lbs front axle this platform can have a combined GAWR of as much as 9100 lbs. This is a way better platform then an F-250, especially with Ford's new Powerboost system.
Great vid! Love the camper too! Ross you da man!!
Thanks 👍
Love the f150 chassis for this build, light weight with nice wide tires. The only thing I would change would be the bed. I'd put the pillows on the driver's side so you can sleep better when parked on the street so the blood doesn't rush to your head all night.
Yup, we've had team members spend quite a few nights in this rig, and they typically just move pillows based upon where they're parked. The other nice thing about this rig however is the airbag suspension we've added, so that is a great tool to level things out for sleeping as well.
wow awesome truck...can travel the globe anytime seriously...but wet bath room? .......but love the built.. greetings from Sarawak Malaysian Borneo🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾
Thanks! Yes, we do have a model of this camper with a bathroom as well.
Hi. Im planning to build one. Did u consider the fuel expenses per liter? How many miles per gallon?
Hi there, thanks for reaching out. Yes, we considered fuel economy at multiple points in the design. The articulating hard shell topper allows the vehicle to have minimal wind drag. We also optimized the frame, shell, and internal build out for weight so the vehicle will perform well and maintain efficient fuel economy.
i like the 'sealable' access...from Truck Cab...to Camper!...Also...the remote 'Hard side' Pop Up Camper ( Pop ups with the flimsy material Not 'my thing'...to much people & Wind noise too!! i don't 'feel Secure'! ..i'm sure this Unit is Very EXPENSIVE!!!! if you had a more of an empty shell. ( with those 2 'features'...).to 'fit' a Tacoma or New Ranger...i would 'Consider'!.. cheers!
It this any videos of building? I want to do this but want to see the masters do it first…
Can you reduce the size of the sink behind the bedroom and put in the bathroom?
We're a custom shop so we can absolutely swap sink size and location.
What's the price approximately on this beauty ? Like 200k ?
The base price for our Baja rigs is $175k which includes the truck (so can go up or down based upon chassis choice).
Nice rig. I've never heard of your company and I've filmed alot of rigs over the years.
Thanks!
You guys might want to reach out to my buddy Phil with Down2Mob overland. He has a gladiator build he is looking to do. 4door to 2 door and similar Living idea..
No toilet or shower? Can that be engineered into this floor plan or would the floor plan have to change?
This rig has an exterior shower w/ hot water, but no toilet. The interior of these builds are completely customizable, so toilet and shower are absolutely something you could add.
Toilet=the woods
It is a half ton rig, water is heavy. I think this is a good idea version 2 will be very good if you get there. I love how light it is a half ton is nice to get around with fair fuel mileage. My unsolicited opinion move the door to the side. This will allow for towing* things, though you probably don't have much capacity left for towing. the slant on the back is visually abrasive and would look much better with a shorter angle. Don't worry about water with a light nimble version, save it for the 3/4 or 1 ton. Start the printing press of money if you can get it right.
I need a Trundra version of this.
Cool truck. What brand of jump seats are those and where did you purchase them?
We removed the bench seat, so one of the seats is the original single seat from the F150, then we just purchased another from e bay I believe, also a stock F150 single seat from the rear of the vehicle.
@@RossmonsterRigs Thank you for the info.
If I drop my Ram 1500 off with you how long do you need? And is the price you mentioned earlier just for the conversion or truck and conversion?
Each camper build is completely custom, so price and timing varies, but if you'd like to chat with one of our design team members, I'd be happy to set that up so that you can get exact pricing and timing details along with any other questions you may have.
how much?
Sweet
Amazing rig, nice work!!!!!!!
Thanks a lot!
No crapper and shower. Nice though
am I the only thinking that if you are sleeping and somehow that top comes down (a thief that got in and decided to press that button) , that death could be rough 😢
How much weight does the living area add to the truck? What is the shell made of? Does it have any insulation?
The weight varies on interior build out. This particular one weighs about 1500lbs. Even though it is under gvwr we have added a suspension leaf in the rear for a better ride along with airbags capable of 5,000 lbs. It is a fiberglass shell with aluminum frame. And yes we do install noise dampening, along with closed cell insulation and a reflectix barrier.
Nice build. I just found you guys.
Do you have any details on how the back rests hinge works and is that able to hold a couple of people sitting on just the suspended part?
Thanks!
The back rest hinges can be purchased from RB components. If I'm understanding youre question correctly, the benches themselves can support people sitting on them, We wouldn't recommend sitting on the folded out, suspended portion alone, as these are really just intended to make the sleeping platform.
I want the truck n the girl. Lol.
Is Lucy from New England? Every now and then I hear something like a Rossmonsta
Y’all do tours?
She's actually from Colorado! We do do tours.
Can this be retrofitted for a hybrid F150?
Yes, it can!
@@RossmonsterRigs dang, now yer talking, this could be my next beast.
I seen your comment saying it starts at 150k. Is that with the truck? It seems extremely expensive.... you can get a used f350 dually and triple slide camper with a kitchen, bathroom, living room, and bedroom for 50k less. It looks nice but I can't justify that price unless you are giving me a brand new 2020/21 truck along with it, and even then it seems a little expensive
Thanks for reaching out! The truck is included in this price. Additionally, all of our builds are completely custom, therefore we're able to hit many price points, and generally recommend people reach out and chat with one of our designers to get the most accurate pricing for what they are looking for. Lastly, we consider these builds a quite different product from a slide camper (though both have their perks!), and have priced them accordingly. Nonetheless, we'd be more than happy to chat at any point and tell you more about our product if you'd like to shoot us an e mail or give us a call.
Is that fabric or solid sides around the queen bed when you lift the top? Love the pass-through between the cab and the shell.
It's a hard fiberglass exterior and fabric on the interior. Thanks!
So it only has two tiny windows, which are covered up behind the couches, and a door that takes so long to open and close you had to fast forward the video? Despite some other complains I'm ok with the lack of a bathroom. There's just no room on an 'overlander' so most of the people who buy these accept that as a cost of staying within the envelope of the truck.
I don’t think it will pass DOT safety certification. No escape door if there’s a fire, you’re trapped inside.
@@paftaf I believe the skylight is an escape hatch, most are.....
@@1966cambo
You need multiple egress. Door and skylight.
@@paftaf exactly, door is one, skylight is second....
What are the internal dimensions of the bed section and truck bed sections please?
The bed is just shy of a queen and this truck has a 6.5 ft bed.
Wow, awesome camper! I love the pass through from the cab to the living space. The hard sided pop top is a great idea too for the added upper storage cabinets. It would be nice to have some more windows above the counter tops and below the upper cabinets.
Thanks so much! Our next two models were just wrapped up and have many more windows, so we'll be sure to post tours of those rigs soon.
@@RossmonsterRigs great! Can’t wait. Will these be removable, or are the they fixed to the truck chassis?
You get what you pay for. You can’t even really build it for less
No toilet?
Not in this one! But a dry flush toilet can be thrown in anywhere in this build for those that want it.
Wheres is the storage?
There's storage in all of the upper and lower cabinetry. These builds are custom however, so storage can be added wherever the client would like.
No 1080 or 4K :(
Why three charge controllers for only 800 watts of solar?
Hi there. The three charge controllers are for charging from the alternator. The solar controller is sized appropriately for the solar array used.
@@RossmonsterRigs Three charge controllers equal three opportunities for component failure. You do realize that single-unit charge controllers are available that will handle the vehicle charging system, or solar array, or shore power; and will automatically switch between the three different systems; right? There's no way you can have a VALID reason for utilizing three separate charge controllers!
2003, we built our ExpeditionVehicle on a commercial truck.
We full-time live-aboard, boondocking exclusively.
One goal is simplicity and redundancy.
A couple-three charge-controllers sounds like a pretty good idea!
All that tech but still no place to poop or shower.
All of these builds are completely custom, so this is absolutely something that can be added in different builds. This one does also have an exterior shower with hot water.
@@RossmonsterRigs Thanks for the replay. I would be interested in seeing a build with a wet bath. Sending my wife to poop outside in the snow is not an option.
Cost
Our Baja Truck Campers start at $175 (including truck) and can be built in a few different layouts or completely custom.
How much would this cost?
They are all custom, so price will vary, however they will start (truck included) around $150k.
What is the cost of it
These rigs will vary in cost as they are customizable, but will start around $150k.
@@RossmonsterRigs do they come with showers and toilet
@@RossmonsterRigs $150,000.00 including the Truck?
looks expensive af.....
The most disappointing thing she said was..."my husband and I"...
You folks should probably ask Andrew to close his mouth for company photos. Pretty embarrassing to have that stereotype onboard. You can keep the clickbait yoga pant lady out of the sales team. No self-aware dude that's laying out money for an off-grid truck camper expects her to be along for the hard times. Just give me the dudes on the build and engineering team explaining everything as it is. I expect truth from men, not women.
