Woody is a genius and a good person, he was absolved of all allegations and never convicted of any crime. You don't have to believe me, you can believe the justice system that did a thorough investigation on him and the lie detector test he took. It's apalling to me that he has been informally convicted by public opinion, which gave him Oscars quite recently but completely changed their opinion during metoo. Pathetic and spineless.

Just so we are clear, I gave the movie a generally good review

Unless I am living in Russia a person is innocent until proven guilty and Woody Allen was investigated by the State of New York and cleared of all allegations but like the scent of horse manure it does fade easily. That said I loved “Coup de Chance” and want to see it again to better understand it due to subtitles. Woody Allen is a theatrical artist and a true genius of film.

Woody Allen is one of the best filmmakers to ever live. We agree on that point. But when you are a star you are the subject of public opinion

PAST HIM PRIME? HOW ABOUT HIS MOVIE WITH KATE BLANCHETT? I THINK WHEN I SEE REALLY FUCKED UP AUDIENCE REVIEWS ON ROTTENTOMATOES, YOU WROTE ONE OF THEM. HE MADE THE MOVIE AS A LOVE STORY TO PARIS, ONE OF HIS FAVORITE CITIES IN THE WORLD. READ 'APROPOS OF NOTHING' AND SEE WHAT HE SAYS ABOUT THE MOVIE. STFU ABOUT HIS BAGGAGE. HE WAS FOUND TO BE INNOCENT BY TWO SEPARATE INVESTIGATIONS.

I like your sincerity , in this review, my humble opinion is that we should learn to separate the person from his or her actions and value the film by itself .

Talk about the movie...not woody allen. You are the one out of touch. And his career was never ruined. Find another career yourself.😮

Woody Allen is spending his remaining years in unable to get large scale American distribution for his films. All of his contacts in the US have largely dried up. He has become a pariah within Hollywood. It’s ok to say his career has been largely negatively impacted… in that same breath I also make note that I liked this movie, but it’s ok to talk about the artist behind the art especially when the art is an expression of self, and the artist has always put himself into his art.

I can't fathom how anybody can connect the real life people connected to the film to the narrative film itself. If you can't suspend belief, I don't see how you can experience the film as intended.

Yeah I think we all pick and choose and we don’t need to make sense of it or make it consistent with other beliefs etc. And I think the consequence is that we’re hypocrites if we bag on someone for enjoying a bad person’s art. My funny pick and choose: I ALSO can’t listen to MJ 😂

Good review. However, not unlike Jimmy Hendrix playing the same guitar keys in a million songs of his, a true artist will tackle matters that rhey enjoy. The fact that an audience member or more can trace areas of affinity and repetition in more than one of his works is neither here nor there. A film stands on its own merit and is not an episode of a director’s lifetime series of works.

Compartmentalization literally *is* separation, so I don’t see how separating the art from the artist is either impossible or a lie. What you’re talking about here is semantics. Regardless, I applaud the fact that you make an exception from your inclination to boycott artists. The only artist whose work I refuse to watch is Tarantino and that’s to do with an interview he once gave that complicated my feelings about his treatment of violence in film. So is Annie Hall your favorite Woody Allen picture then?

I still believe the choice is made for someone to make the exception/separation. And it’s fine to do so. I don’t think anyone is a bad person for doing so. I just believe that art is so closely intertwined with the artist that to say you can separate it is impossible. Especially, when someone says they make the choice to do so. That means you are making the choice mentally to do so, so even if you separate it, you are aware of the allegations. Regardless, Annie Hall is indeed my favorite. I think it’s one of the best movies ever made.

Your opening 6 minute and 20 second bias diatribe was impossible to listen to. I watched the film and thought it was exceptional. I looked through your reviews hoping to see Blue Jasmine, Hannah and Her Sisters, Manhattan Murder Mystery, Crimes and Misdemeanors in hopes of giving you a second chance. Sadly I arrived at the conclusion I feared all along, you're a one hit wonder with only Annie Hall under your belt.
Please next time, if you have an ax to grind, skip the movie entirely since you have no ability to objectively review art without your bias seeping through. And where do you get off saying it should be his last???

I spoke in complete honesty. If you don’t like that then don’t watch my channel. It won’t hurt my feelings.

Hello @ronster369 - I support you 100%. The person claiming to be a movie reviewer on this video just ranted uninformed opinion, the concept of "honesty" is irrelevant to the point being made by @ronster369. The point is that the video is not informed, the talker did not even bother to properly research and review Woody Allen's filmography. The whole video was just an excuse to say "look at me, look at me - I'm going with the mob that presumes guilty unless proven innocent! Cancel Woody Allen! Cancel Woody Allen! Ra-ra-ra, ra-ra,-ra" and you called it, @ronster369. Your point has nothing to do with that smokescreen response nonsense about "honesty". That response is just an obnoxious attempt to distract from the point being made by trying to use the word "honesty" as a deflection. Opinion and honesty are not equivalent. @ronster369 Good for you for pointing out the extreme bias and lack of informed discussion demonstrated by the perpatrator of this misleading channel. I support you @ronster369. Do not worry about keyboard bullies like the one spouting political bias in the name of "movie reviews". There was no review in this video, just uninformed hot air. The so-called "movie reviewer" does make one good suggestion for everyone everywhere - do not watch this channel.
