Very enjoyable video. You are definitely living history and testing what has been historically recorded as technique. I very much enjoy what you are doing and admire your research prior to conducting your testing. Merry Christmas to you and your family, and may 2025 bring you success in all of your endeavors.
Another great video. Noticing your large powder horn . I think it warrants a video on powder horn size. Would a longhunt party carry avg size and refill at camp or would they carry large powder horns. Maybe a future video idea.
Very interesting, but I wish ya had put it on paper and used a bench to show the true accuracy. Reminds me of a bag mold i bought for my .40 . When I went to load, the ball wouldn't go down. Scratching my head i removed the patch and tried again... no go ! I mic the balls they were everything from 41 to 43 caliber 😢 It's really kool 😎 that ya made the mold and shot the balls!! Thanks 👍 😊
I get it. I have been shooting my whole life and professionally for 25 years. I have seen first hand that you only get issued two eyeballs and two good ears. Once they are gone, that’s it.
Anthony, what are your thoughts about using greased tow over the top of the ball to prevent it rolling forward. Some of the smoothbore barrels recovered in the Voices from the Rapids book were loaded with round ball and wadding in front of it. TY
If I were to carry this particular caliber/bullet combo it would be a requirement to keep it from rolling out. I would likely use wasp nest since it’s easier for me to use.
Thank you for sharing another great experiment! You have me wondering if they would have shaved down the wings or used as is. I give you credit for going with the as is to see the results. In a previous reply you mentioned using wasp nest to secure the ball. Do you think that would change the accuracy at all? May have to try making one of these.

That’s so very kind and humbling. Thank you for your support.
Glad to see you carry a large powder horn. I made mine from a Highland cow horn and it's a wee bit large
This thing is huge but I really like it. I don’t notice the weight or size that much compared to smaller ones.
Great video as always.
I appreciate you watching and the kind words.
What a cool experiment! This was an excellent video. Merry christmas to you and yours.
Thank you. To you as well!
They had molds and were capable of lapping them smooth.
I could team these out better but I wanted to first see what happened this way.
Hello from north Idaho! Enjoyed the video and Merry Christmas to you and your family!🎄
Merry Christmas!
Good, usable information and first class music! Thanks for both!
The Us Army band nailed that song.
That was a fun video! Interesting and informative
Thanks, I appreciate you taking the time to watch!

That’s a great idea. I will see what I can find with it!

I might do some paper and a rest on the next one actually. Well, somewhat of a rest at least anyways.
Fun video.
Thank you!
Excellent video my friend!!
Thank you. I appreciate the kind words and support. I still want to redo the whole experiment at some point.
Its about using equipment thats authentic: polycarb safety glasses on 🤓
😂 always gets me

Great video. Black powder is more reliable than most really think.
I’m glad you liked it! It is a pretty interesting form of technology and will do predictable things when handled right it seems.
@@thedeerskindiary Yes, Sir !
Thank you for sharing another great experiment!

Are you gonna do any winter videos?
Yes I am! Hopefully 2-3 actually. I have a busy January but I am going to try and let that not stop me.
What I really want to know is if you drink spa instead of brown ale
I’ll drink whatever. For Gary Owen and Glory!
What is the name of the lively fife & drum tune you’re playing in the background?
Gary Owen by the US Army Band
@ Thanks! 👍
JUPITER? It’s SATURN THAT HAS THE RINGS🤪😂
I never said I was a science guy. 😂😂😂🤷🏽♂️
