- This is the 'behind the scenes' video from an advertising job I did a few years ago with 'The Lion Whisperer', Kevin Richardson. I was the photographer and was lucky enough to have this experience working in such close proximity to the lions.

It's funny when you seen a lot of lion whisperer tv that you think you recognize the lions yourself even without an introduction. I could be wrong but I believe the first two lionesses were Meg & Amy -- with Meg ofcourse being the one jumping into the river. The next two are Bobcat and Gaby -- Bob's fearsome dark mane and piercing eyes is hard to mistaken. And the last two -- I think are Vayetse and Livy (Ginny's missing) cause that innocent and youthful, pink-nosed Vayeste's face, and Livy is bigger and lighter toned than Ginny.

This was one of my favorite lion videos. The scene of the lion with his paws on the top of the cage, he was absolutely huge! I'll bet every man inside was grateful for the cage. Good job Justin. :)

She is a drone killer.
Lots of animal trainers and others say " oh hes gonna get killed because of how he rolls with them, and this and that". I disagree... I think out of all the lion trainers and people similar to Kevin, kevin has the least chance of being killed. They dont associate anything bad with him. Of course it could still happen. But if you love skydiving, even though it could kill you, doesnt mean you should not do it.
CJ actually i disagree with the sky diving analogy. Kevin is doing dangerous stuff with the lions but he is providing a lot of education and awareness. Whereas sky diving is just, well for fun and the adrenaline rush. It's just being dangerous just because.
issaciams yea and he's got a great relationship with all the animals at his sanctuary especially the lions. As well as doing a lot of good xx
Thats my point though. People always talk shit about kevin and whjat he does, atleast its not a pointless selfish risk ya know.
What kevin does is incredible, and because of the way he does it, he has a much lower risk of being attacked versus a "trainer with a stick".
I think ya mis took what i meant. I basically meant if you love to do something, even if it can be dangrous, you should still do it. Even more so in Kevin's case because its for a incredibly good cause.

The music wasn't good at all. That's why the lions were pissed off. Lions say 'we are the kings/queens of the jungle, can't you play some good music to go with our persona?'

Doesn't their sandpaper-like tongue rip his skin to shreds? You'd think the constant grooming would be painful after awhile...
Yeah he said it isn't exactly pleasant. But they're showing him their love so he just takes it.
It doesn't literally rip his skin to shreds but it does exfoliate quite a bit, so he tries to move his head around so they lick mostly his hair and beard.

Blimey, these photographers don't ask for much, do they? I wonder why Kevin and the lions don't occasionally simply biff them and walk off. Especially the big cats. Meg looked nonplussed at having a cageful of them at her elbow and Bobcat certainly intended to fix 'em good if he could dig his way in.

Never really cared about the music. My attention was not focus there. It's the big cats and Kevin that matters. The sight of them can bring you to another place and time. Really amazing bond they have.

You could see that whenever the lions got a little too rough with the cage, Kev told them off and distracted them. The cage isn't meant to be for long protection.
