Hey, high school ref here so take my opinion fwiw on that goaltend call. I'm a MFFL so obviously not a fan of my professional counterparts, but in this case I'll be the devil's advocate. The baseline official should be watching contact on the shot under the rim and not the rim. The two back court officials should be watching the rim. Dinwiddie's shot was right at the rim and the one official in view on the sideline was on the other side of the goal and could not see it. In a perfect situation he should not make that call as it would be a guess. The referee who would have the best view would be the trail official who unfortunately because of the midcourt turn over and quick transition the other way was behind the play. Watch the replay, she comes into view as the rebound is being cleared and was most likely at halfcourt when the goaltend occurred. It was an honest mistake by the crew on the court. Y'all are right though, a goaltend call could be reviewed and should have been made. In the heat of a game like that the goaltend was one of a million things that were being watched and considered. I pretty much guarantee that in a similar situation in another game those refs will make that call.
The NBA robbed the Mavs in 06 (Who knows how many more they would have won). Wade shot more FT than the whole Mavs team combined. Go back and watch game 5. Tied 2-2 Mavs up 1. Wade throws Terry on the ground by half court before the inbound, no call. He gets the ball split two denders, missed wide open shot and they call a foul.
I don't think Lively is a huge loss, Mavs should play more small ball anyways. Maybe they should look into picking up shooting big like Olynyk to bring some diversity off the bench since Kleber can't shoot anymore
@@jlavigne1155if he is a difference maker, then why did he lose last 6 of 8 games? It's because Luka wasn't playing. I think they will be fine without him for a while, look into playing smaller to match what OKC and Celtics are doing.
@fringe_minority the Mavs have won more games this season without Luka than last. Luka is a offense monster. Kyrie was also out a lot of games. Hell, the whole team! Has missed a lot of games. Without a consistent offense you will not win games. The numbers help tell that story
Ben’s favorite phrase ever is “embarrassment of riches” he says it once every episode and twice this episode lol
Over on DLLS "wax poetic" was a go to phrase for a few of them for a couple weeks. Haven't heard it since I left a comment about it lol

The difference in our defense with Lively on and Lively off is a massive swing. He is a massive loss
@hasp__ they've been losing games with or without him. At this point he is not much of a difference maker.
No, he absolutely is a difference maker, the numbers back it up. Def is much better with him on the court
