Finally. I am so glad someone is making this film. He is one of my all time favorite performers. He is the perfect combination of folk, blues and jazz that no one could replicate.
Back in the day...by which I mean college in the late 60s...Mississippi John Hurt's records were a must-have, along with those by Bukka White, Sonny Boy Williamson, JB Lenoir, and a whole host of other, perhaps now better-known Blues legends like Howlin Wolf, Buddy Guy, BB and Freddie and on and on. Those stories are more familiar and are alive because of the Brits that first imitated their sound, and then honored them, but the music of these older Bluesmen is itself vital--and to finally have their personal stories told in this way has been a long time coming.
My into to the blues as a little girl in the late 1950's was to Bessie and Billie, to this day I adore those women and their songs, Strange Fruit always chills me to the bone.
Alot of people talk about Morgan Freeman’s voice but Mississippi John Hurt’s … he could read me a bed time story every night & I would drift to dreaming a happy man.
The first time I heard of John Hurt was when I watched the movie Shadrach. I fell in love with the music and led me to listen him. Love that more people will learn about this amazing man
When I first heard "You've got to walk that lonesome valley..", it wasn't just another song on the radio, it was like a grandfather giving me advice. I will have to look out for this movie.
Oh my god I'm so hyped for this. John Hurt's cabin has since burned down, Happy Traum has died, but this film has them both. Thanks to the team for your work.
his style of Blues is so unique...it reminds me of Henry Thomas and Skip James...there's quiet and quaint soft subtlety to their style...and it has a certain effect, a mesmerizing and hypnotizing sleepy day dream on a rainy mid-afternoon that feels more like a late-evening...
Was really hoping to see maybe a clip of John fahey talking about his influence on him too but does such a thing even exist?? Either way, this is awesome!
So glad to see Mississippi John Hurt get the honor and recognition he so richly deserves. More people need to know about John Hurt.
.....agree, greetings from Germany!

I love John Hurt's music - so gentle yet so profound - I'm going to find this movie and watch it

I love all those ancient folk blues... Hurt, Blind Willie Johnson, Robert Johnson, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Son House, Charlie Patton, Memphis Minnie...
His music is the first blues I learned to play, from Happy Traum and John Sebastion’s lessons. Great to know this is out there, I’m eager to see it!
The first blues songs I fell in love with, must have been 1964 or 65. Life changer.
I learned to fingerpick through MJH’s music. He’s a true legend and deserves his story being told. So excited.
African American folk music & blues are so underappreciated.
This looks fantastic.
Definitely try to make it rentable online please 🙏
Waiting patiently for it...
R.I.P. Happy Traum 😢
Damn I hadn't heard about his passing! R.I.P. indeed.
Feel blessed to have stumbled across this great man's music a few years ago. The presence and kindness that it radiates is so striking.

Yes! Overdue and so richly deserved. Thank you to the film makers for preserving this critical cultural history and giving us this gift. ♥
I'm really looking forward to seeing this. A story certainly worth telling and a real shame Happy is no longer with us to see its release😢

The sweetness shines through in his music, it sits on you like a favourite sweater.
Oh man. You ever have the feeling that something you didn’t even know you needed is finally here? That’s what this movie is.
Funny thing is every time I got a John Hurt album someone borrowed it….
And mine never came back : )
First one was a gift from my brother in the spring of 98.
Some of the first stuff I learned on guitar in the 70s was some MJH tunes from a book of tabs collected by Happy Traum!
Cant wait to check it out. Love his pickin and warm voice.

His wonderful music has enriched my life for decades.
Oh yes! Bring it on. I learnt to fingerpick learning Trouble I Had it All My Days.
Like all the best musicians, you can hear his spirit and personality in every note...
Hello good people! Please do it with Spanish subtitles. We are thousands of Spanish speakers who love and feel blues music.
"too many things going on"...lol...yep you're not alone...can't wait to see this film
The Grateful Dead leaned into the music and vibes of this man big time.
An American Legend.

Wasn’t he a relative of Skip James?
@@beatmet2355 I don't know
Can't wait to watch.
Glad the late great Happy Traum appears.
A little bummed Taj Mahal isn’t in this. But I did see a quick glimpse of him there around 1:22. John was such a massive influence on Taj.
I can hardly wait to see this !!
Was really hoping to see maybe a clip of John fahey talking about his influence on him too but does such a thing even exist?? Either way, this is awesome!
He was the first guitarist I heard and wanted to 😊play guitar.
I had no idea the chestbuster dude from Alien was a badass guitar player and singer. Amazing 👏
