The thought and effort that goes into something like this(let alone describing it) is truly underappreciated. You have done a great job using reasonably priced off the shelf gear and growing things I have seen no where else.
Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words! I’m really happy you enjoyed! I took my time with this one and tried to get everything organized so it could be helpful to everyone. If you ever decide to go down the tent route, you won’t be disappointed. It has been the best thing ever for growing a decently large collection inside a tiny apartment! Happy growing my friend!
Awesome set up!! Yrs ago I had my balcony enclosed to grow whatever, then after 6 yrs a storm took it out and property management wouldn't allow me to re-due it. So now just a few Mini's in my indoor Orchidarium case. I have just one 1000 watt WeeGrowth remote light now, florescent lights that came with unit were just not doing it. My case has stainless steel bottom as drip pan with a grate above it that works out great. My unit has two 4" electronic fans each blowing in different direction and can control the speed. Top and back side of my unit are plexiglass, but doors sides are plate glass. I added a ultrasonic humidifier that turns on if humidity drops below 72%. My heat is fairly much by room temp, days in summer never above 80° and nights by front window drop no lower than 65°. Really enjoyed your vid, lots of great info!! 👍😊
You have similar temps to me.... it’s a great range for flexible growing of lots of different genus. Sucks about the tent, management companies always find a way to ruin things. I cannot wait to get out of my apartment and into a place where I can set something up outdoors. Thank you so much for watching! Happy growing.
My tent is set up in the basement. Thanks for showing the day/night temperature regulator. That is the one missing part of my setup. I knew that I needed something like that. I got a tent in order to grow Masdevallias, Miltoniopsis, and Dendrobium cuthbertsonii. They can’t survive the heat on my sun porch. Thanks again.
Thanks Darrell! The day/night regulator is a keystone for me. It has really helped me reduce the manual checking and adjusting and the consistency seems to really suit the plants. I’m thrilled to hear you have your tent together and eager to hear about your success! Thanks again for watching, happy growing!
Amazing video I have a very similar setup. My modification was adding vents facing towards my window. For airflow... my greenhouse seemed to have alot of stale air and was a rot box until adding all the 3 vents 1 can be opened and closed at different heights. The other 2 vents are in the back with a fan open and running continuously. I add a lot of water to my humidifiers and they are set to automatic timer to fog the entire greenhouse in the AM . I use 5 humidifiers 4 are uktrasonic and 1 is evaporative. 3 on the inside and 1 on the outside pointing towards the fan. I have one humidifier that is set to blow on tolumnia in the AM; the next for the greenhouse 75-85% continuous; the next after that is the same one for AM fog, The last one is an evaporative with a wick it is set to start running when the greenhouse goes below 85% humidity it has a built in sensor unlike the others. My temperature range is 65°-70°. I like that your setup has sensors and uses less humidifiers.
Sounds like you have a pretty awesome setup as well! That is a lot of humidifiers but if it works it works! I had a much larger ultrasonic unit at first but it hardly ever ran and the tank would need cleaned before it needed filled. The one I run now is about half the size of that one and still usually only runs when the door is halfway unzipped and the full sun is on the tent or when I have the door open. The mounts evaporate so much moisture they somewhat regulate their own environment, unless I have the door partially unzipped. I get a bigger temp variance but I force it year round with either the heater or my AC in the summer. I’d love a cooler growing setup but that’s the one I find the trickiest. Perhaps one day! Thank you so much for watching! I hope you continue to be a part of my channel!
Thank you so much for watching! I’m glad you enjoyed! I’ve been eager to release this one for a long time, I am excited you guys are enjoying it! Happy growing!
Indeed there is! Thank you so much for watching! Tent life is a great way to go for a collector like myself with limited space. I can say that as much as there is to think about…. It’s pretty great once you figure out your system and can sit back and grow while the automation takes over the headache. I feel the same way about the tank setups as well. Once you get them dialed in…. It makes all the research/ trial and error worth it!
@@CloudforestVibesOrchidsMore I feel like once I settle somewhere more permanently, I might switch from sideboard to grow tent. Unless there’s a conservatory/sun room. Haha
@@MattbyNature I wouldn’t have set this up had I not planned on being here the past few years but I’m sure glad I did. Either way you have a great collection and do great with your space! I’d would be awesome to see what a lot of folks would do with a tent setup though….. I hope to be the bad influence that gets many to finally cave… 🙃
Hi! I love your videos, i was wondering, im looking to make an orchidarium in a grow tent, 2'x2'x5.2' would you reccomend a SF1000 or SF300 for the light? im leaning towards the sf1000 just because i think i could have it higher and fit more plants in, as opposed to the 300 which would need to be lower... im looking at primarily mounted orchids in this tent and will be trying replicate your humidity and temp automation, do you think the 300 would be adequate? or go with the 1000 and lower the brightness or raise it higher etc.... thanks in advance, your orchids are stunning.
I would say the same way except maybe adding a heater to the outside area (still within the garage). This could help you maintain temps inside the tent easier but would definitely be more costly. The heater I use does a great job but my temps don’t get below 50 in that room in the dead of winter. What kind of temps are you trying to work against?
Incredible! I am trying to do something very similar and I think I may have the same greenhouse kit. However, does yours maintain a high humidity without assistance? I am having to run a humidifier constantly to achieve 60% humidity even, though I have far fewer than you.
So, the more plants you get, the more it should maintain. Mine holds moisture like crazy! I usually have mine 1/4 to halfway unzipped just to help air exchange and relieve the de-humidifier a bit. More fluctuation on the winter when the heater is working more and drying the air but even then, it seldom drops below 80%. It’s a great investment snd way to achieve near greenhouse conditions in the gone! Best of luck on your adventure…. I’m going to do an updated video on this topic here in the near future. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions, I am always happy to help! Thanks for watching!
So, it’s mostly trial and error but one side is in front of the window and have the brighter grow lights over it, so that is the bright side and the other half is lower light plants. Some plants like more air flow and are placed directly in the path of the little computer fans and others do not and I try to avoid placing them in direct fire. Other than that, it’s wherever there’s space and hope for the best. The only area I have to be extra careful with is the new hanging rack in the middle and the area right in front of the window. Only places bright enough to cook plants that don’t like the heat or bright sun/light. Thanks again for watching! I hope this helps!
40 minute video? I'd say that is thorough before I even watch it. Ah, the grow tent is only 6'4", that explains why you're always knocking things around in there, you can't stand up straight. Hey now, I didn't say it was an absolute mess! If I decide to buy another set of Barrina lights, I could send you the Mars TS600 which should give you plenty of additional light.
You should have seen it before I hacked it all down and edited it. I had just over an hour of raw video to trim! This was a fun one to make, I have been eager to show my full setup for a while. Mess or no mess 😝! How do you like the Mars light? I’ve been looking at them and spider farmer trying to make a choice but haven’t pulled the trigger yet.
@@CloudforestVibesOrchidsMore The Mars light is quite strong and I don't know that it is entirely necessary. I have it 30" above the plants and still had to put a shade cloth under it. The Bloomspect SL600 is about the same, a little cheaper in material mind you, but it is dimmable and only $50. I actually like the Barrina strip lights for use on shelves. The color is a bit weird, slightly pink, but the plants certainly respond to it.
@@michaelmccarthy4077 I will keep that in mind. It’s amazing how reasonable lighting has become alongside the advancement of the cannabis industry. I remember trying to afford aquarium and terrarium lighting when I was young.... boy how things have changed! Not complaining but it’s so nice to be able to get High quality lighting that doesn’t require a loan and blood donation. Thanks for the input, as always!

some ideas how I can heat this greenhouse in a cold garage ?
