Electricity went off at 11:00 pm and came up at 6:00. Horrible horrible what the Thais have done to paradise. One rickety pier. That was it. Saw” the beach” on a dirt floor in the only place that had a vcr. Damn you Hollywood.

Im going to Thailand in Dec/Jan, first 5 days in Bangkok and then Phuket for 8 days, i have accomodation booked for 4 days in Patong and 4 days in Old Town Phuket... but im unsure about old Town, i feel like 4 days is too much for Old Town, so i'd like to change it. Does anyone have any recomendations? Like maybe 2 days in Phi Phi and then 2 days in Old town?

IMHO, Ko Phi Phi is over rated. Loh Dalum is actually kinda disgusting. At low tide it reeks of sewer, for good reason. See all that black stuff in the water ? That's from raw sewage. I would not swim at Loh Dalum without a gamma globulin shot. Similans are awesome and I like Phuket's beaches more. But, Phuket is getting awfully crowed and expensive. Krabi is nice too.
Phi Phi has really strong low tides. But I did not see dirty water there. Try to visit Phang Nga province, it is very beautiful there and there are much fewer tourists.

Hi) if you rent a bike, 4 days in Patong can be combined with Old Town, the path between them is about 20 minutes) And so Phi Phi Phi is a must visit.
