Oh man... I have some THOUGHTS on this yarn! Velvet yarn can be tricky and it is good to know what you are getting into with a velvet yarn. How does it survive a wash test?? Did it WORM??... and what is "worming" anyway? 🤔 Would I buy this again, or stock it in my yarn stash? Watch the full review to find out!
I always try my hardest to respond to all my comments, because I make these videos for you! Let me know your thoughts, and if there is anything you would like to see me do a video about.

Thank you so much for this! I haven’t crotcheted in decades (oof!) and hit the stores for a baby blanket yarn and fell in love with the feel. You totally saved me! And no need to apologize! This is the most useful vid I’ve watched in a looong time.

Great review. Love how in-depth you went with this yarn. Some people are just it soft and great lol. Thank you for showing the good and bad about this yarn.

Thanks Miriam! It is definitely more work for the in depth yarn reviews, but I feel like it is all info I would want to know if I were yarn shopping. Especially yarn shopping online!

@@YarnatPlay it is hard to shop online especially with a new type or brand you never worked with before.

Second comment with a question . What about washing this in a small mesh laundry bag on gentle to prevent snagging. Or is it the water itself that causes worming.

I've never tried velvet yarn before and had no idea about the worming! I was considering making a blanket out of Bernat Blanket, but now I'm not so sure...

You are probably save with bernat blanket. It isn't nearly as slippery. I have made a couple blankets with it and haven't had any problems.

Oh man it is heartbreaking. I had no idea this was a thing and made a whole blanket that just looks horrible now after one wash 😢

Oh no! 😭 I absolutely want to love velvet yarn, but unless it is tied off row by row to create a fringe, it is just too risky for me. I hope you are able to save your blanket!!! ❤️

Thank you Rachel, you did an awesome review! I was so curious about this velvet yarn. I had my reservations about how it worked up and wear? You answered my questions, still unsure if I care spend what they are asking for it!

If you are bargain hunting and are patient, I would wait for it to go on sale at Joann's. Once it is on sale use a 25% off your total purchase coupon and you can probably get it pretty close to 50% off!

I like making hats out of velvet yarn that I then donate to the homeless since I know that worming is an issue if washed I use a loom and always pull as tightly as possible. And use the bulkier yarn on small gage looms so loops at tighter together.

I've never used velvet yarn but I've heard you can use something like fray check on the ends to keep the fibers from coming off the main cord/thread. I will definitely be working up the velvet yarn I have on my Addi. As always, love your videos!!

Oh my gosh! I would never have thought to use the Addi with this yarn. I have 3 skeins I haven’t used because I didn’t know what to use them for. Do you have a pattern to share for your adorable cat? I’d love to try it. Great review of this yarn. I’ve heard that the tails work themselves loose on Ami’s. Someone let their grandchild play with it and after a few minutes….yeah, time wasted 😢

It makes a fun amigurumi stuffy! I will say that after a few days of my girls loving on these that I did have an end come loose, but I wouldn't worry about trimming it shorter if needed, since it won't frey.
