- The Indian alternative to industrial agriculture
Farm of Krishnappa, member of KRRS, Karnataka, India, Feb. 2012
With rising costs and falling yields, industrial agriculture (oil-based pesticides and fertilizers, hybrid seeds and monoculture) have driven over 200,000 Indian farmers to suicide. But Krishnappa - and hundreds of thousands of other Indian farmers - have found a way out of that trap: a tropical permaculture that offers them - and the earth - a new future.

monoculture is only good for ease of harvesting. it'll be best if farmers can select the ideal combination of different plant varieties that fit the local conditions and create the perfect permaculture which is naturally balanced (needs less human interference) and sustainable.
