This is why I love bike racing. F-1 drivers make millions and millions and many are spoiled brats. Many TT racers competing at this incredible race, do their own prep work, race on a shoestring budget and are humble and down to earth. My very best wishes to you for a safe and successful TT. Will be following from the US.
I've always wondered how TT preparation differed from normal race preparation: and thanks to the Wavy One, now all is clear. Thanks Dave - and here's to you having a brilliant fortnight on our favourite Isle. Oh, and prayers going out to the weather gods. Obviously. 👍
youve got some huge balls to go around that circuit......123MPH avg is no joke either!.......your just an everyday racer like many avg people.....no big factory team just doing what you love
it was so "painfull" to leave BMW-Essen (NRW 🇩🇪) without the baby from the first serie ... good choice ! can not wait what is much more economic S1000RR in your care , V4 ...s...r...sp mopedMaster Lange (Motorradmeisterei Lange) or 44teeth with the R1 tuning program...
Great video like always! Only one question Dave: Why do you keeping the alarm system on your race bike? Wish you great weather and fast laptimes on the TT !
Depends what you'd call non critical really 😂 Footrests, etc (definitely critical) I use high strength 270, but yes, on some less terrifying bits I will use 243 or 222
@@obsession_engineering haha That's true. When travelling at over 150mph, every fastener is critical ☺ But, yes, that's interesting you do. Afteral, you don't want any fasteners vibrating loose. Thank-you for the reply. Once again, best of luck Dave! 👍
Forgive my ignorance but what is that pink thing attached to the brake caliber running next to the fork leg? (English isn`t my 1st language, it`s the best i can do)
really fantastic!! hey I am absolute beginner from india.. I owe normal 160 cc bike for daily travelling and lately I got so interested with tt that I have set my mind to compete in it.. can you please tell which bike I should start from?? i have money crunch as of now but I have dream to race in tt. any suggestion, I would appreciate.. I can only learn from the best
Hey wanted to ask ..on a 2018 s1000rr ..when doing a normal valnve clearance check do we need to take out the cam shaft holders as well ?? I understand if shims need to be changed then we need to...for just checking the valve clearance- do we need to remove the cam shaft holders too which hold the cam lobes
probably need the wheel speed inputs for the anti-wheely/traction control stuff to work? I'm curious why the BMW alarm unit is still on there, does it do anything other than beep annoyingly and monitor tire pressure on the S1000RR?
Detail. Has 200 miles since last oil change and will need an oil change in another 300. Respect that 500 mile interval for oil change. Ohh and cheats. Must have but not required to operate. Lol

The MotoGP riders can also be a bit like spoilt brats. But yes, I totally agree, the TT road racers are such a down to earth likeable bunch of guys.
Well said my friend!
@PeterJons well said my friend.

Please stop thrusting this at us, this is not appropriate here.
Your attention to detail is superb , this is a lesson for those who don't have a clue about meticulous preparation, love it all.
Dave sending you high hopes and wishes for the TT mate good luck.
Your attention to detail is…an obsession. As a normal streetrider this was unknown to me, thx for enlightenment
Good luck Dave, really appreciate you making these videos.
Fantastically informative
What a great video and channel. Everything explained clearly and everything just makes sense.

Top video once again Dave.
Hope to see you blasting past my Marshall Post at sulby Cross roads.on Monday.
I probably won't have time to wave 😁

Love the vid!!!
Awesome 👌 respect to you!!
I’d love a shot of that monster bike 🏁🏁🏁
I love dave 💙
Good luck buddy 👌🏻👍🏻
Best of luck.
Great video like always!
Only one question Dave:
Why do you keeping the alarm system on your race bike?
Wish you great weather and fast laptimes on the TT !
Alarm is merely to keep my paranoia in check, big locks and alarms help me sleep better!
Steady away Dave 👍🏻
Good luck don't forget to say hello to the fairies stay safe
Just hit the subscribed. Imagine the engine work.
Good job mate, what more can you do? Best of luck!
Make sure and check the torque spec on your brake bleeders as well.
I would recommend a sprint P-08 f1-85 air filter none of that oiling messing around
Ah some lockwiring! Thanks! Do you lock wire the oil filter?!
Hope TT going well 👍🏻
yes, a jubilee clip around it and then wire to that
Do you use low strength Loctite (equivalent to a nyloc nut) for the non-critical fasteners Dave?
Best of luck with the TT 👍
Depends what you'd call non critical really 😂
Footrests, etc (definitely critical) I use high strength 270, but yes, on some less terrifying bits I will use 243 or 222

Suspension potentiometer
Great video. Does the lock wire on the rear spindle not effect pit stops?
I usually run 6 laps on the same tyre, as I'm not fast enough to need the extra grip from the 2 lap tyres, so no rush when I'm wheel changing
really fantastic!! hey I am absolute beginner from india.. I owe normal 160 cc bike for daily travelling and lately I got so interested with tt that I have set my mind to compete in it.. can you please tell which bike I should start from?? i have money crunch as of now but I have dream to race in tt. any suggestion, I would appreciate.. Question, obviously dunlop tire issue has now stopped slick use, superstock tire instead, will it affect lap times assume slightly slower?
The difference is very very small, the front boys may notice more difference but for me it's no problem
Don't you have a quick release system for changing the rear wheel/tyre during a race ?
We don't do a wheel change, so don't need the quick release option. But the caliper and spacers are captive so it can be done quickly if necessary
No, you only need the rocker cover off, no need to remove the cam caps
Lovely video no so sure about the tire dunlops bike d213 blew off :(
The slicks were the issue at nw200, I've no concerns with the tyres we have at TT
This is a great video, thanks for sharing it. Just out of interest, what approximately is the MPG while racing?
Quick calculation puts the BMW at 15.5 mpg (English gallons not American)
The lock wire on rear spindle how do you change wheel during the race in the pit ?
We don't do a wheel change! Easy 😁
@@obsession_engineering haha yeah I just herd them say as I watched the high lights
No tyre change lol good luck 🏍🏍🏍💨💨💨💨💨💨
Dave what fuel do you run.
Super unleaded from the local petrol station. In the UK I try to use the 99 octane shell /tesco /esso but in the island its mostly 97
What did the cops show up or did your ear drums blow
With the ABS pumped removed, why are the ABS sensors and disks still on the bike wheels, carrying extra weight?
probably need the wheel speed inputs for the anti-wheely/traction control stuff to work?
I'm curious why the BMW alarm unit is still on there, does it do anything other than beep annoyingly and monitor tire pressure on the S1000RR?
Correct on the wheel speed sensors, they're needed for traction, launch control, etc.
And the alarm just helps my paranoia
Detail. Has 200 miles since last oil change and will need an oil change in another 300. Respect that 500 mile interval for oil change. Ohh and cheats. Must have but not required to operate. Lol
That voice had me turning off in 30 seconds straight!
Not much I can do about that, unless I hit the helium 😁
Great overview, very interesting. Hoping you stay safe, do well and most of all have fun at the TT. 👏🫡
