    Im not sure how brass instruments work exactly but how do you play different notes without using the slider?

    • @arizonagreenbee
      @arizonagreenbee 2 года назад +6

      It's called partials. Depending on things like how our embouchure is set (loose or tight), how fast the air is and the amount of pressure we can make different notes using the same positions/fingerings. This is why we have a limited number of buttons or just a slide and maybe a trigger. So, on a trombone, the first position could be Bb, F, or a high D (and possibly more, but trombone is not my main).

    • @seth094978
      @seth094978 Год назад +3

      Specifically, this is an alto trombone, so the available 1st position notes are the pitches of the Eb harmonic series:
      pedal Eb, Low Eb, Bb, Eb, G, Bb, Db, Eb, F, G, A half flat, Bb, etc.
      Those last handful are pretty difficult, but technically possible. The Db is "out of tune" (actually it's just a note we don't use in western music much -- the true harmonic 7th)

    • @wheresrebecca_
      @wheresrebecca_ Год назад

      Depending on how tight or loose your lips are (your embouchure/mouth formation) while buzzing air through it is how the notes get higher and lower. So if your lips are pursed tightly the notes are high, and when you relax the lips the lower the note goes.
