      ​@@V38-r7tnot true, there is actually footage from a spitfire intercepting and destroying a V-1 in the air. Also, there really wouldn't be that much shrapnel, as it would get mostly vaporized in the explosion.

      Your comment is misleading.
      Hitler admired the British Empire because of how they ran their empire and how they were “pure and aryan”. He liked them for all the wrong reasons.
      He also hated the USA because he thought they were all racial impure and could never win a war because they were an inferior society.
      ALSO, while he did admire the British empire he completely signed up to fight them, Britain gave him way too many chances and made it clear when he would start war with them but he kept going. He knew he was going to fight Britain and he was fine with it. It was entirely avoidable.

      They created overly complex, hard to build and fragile machines that were unable to stand up to the rigours of combat and couldn't be effectively mass produced. They were resource intensive to build and operate. They were the exact opposite of what the Germans needed in WWII.

      What’s funny, is he also never mentioned why it was called the Vengeance 1 rocket. The vengeance came from the RAF bombing of Hamburg, which was the first civilian target of the war by either side. Churchill basically used Hitler’s ego against him (and his people as human shields), by bombing it and making the Luftwaffe focus on civilian targets in the UK and less on military factories.

      @@alarmedresponse They burn Hydrogen, which burns with a light blue, almost invisible flame. You can see the inside of the engine glowing, but the exhaust is basically invisible (its water vapour, after all), especially compared to the very bright SRBs and the tons of glowing dirt they produce.
      You should watch a Space Shuttle launch, you will see the main engines ignite first, followed after a few seconds by the SRBs.

    The V1 wasn't ineffective because of it's propulsion system. It's guidance system was essentially a compass and a clock, travelling in sort of the direction of the target at about as long as it would take to get there. Unsurprisingly, a large percentage of them didn't hit anything of great value, but their randomness was in itself terrifying.
